A higher love Megan and David said “I do” al fresco in the stunning grounds of Thornton Manor

Despite initially giving David the cold shoulder when he pursued her at university, Megan did feel the attraction too. Luckily, David is a persistent chap and eventually his determination paid off. “We were drawn to each other by an inexplicable energy, like magnets,” Megan explains. Not long after they started dating, Megan took up a fantastic job opportunity in Dubai, and it only took David a month to realise he couldn’t live without her, following her out there. They lived happily in the UAE together for many years before returning home to the UK to settle and tie the knot.

David proposed during their time in Dubai. He took Megan up Jebel Jais, the country’s highest peak, and at sunset got down on one knee to pop the question. “It was a complete surprise to me, but an amazing one of course,” Megan remembers.

The date was set for 12th July, 2019 at Thornton Manor. Here, the bride shares her treasured memories of the gorgeous wedding…

Thornton Manor was the fi rst venue we saw. The moment I walked into the wedding breakfast room I remember getting so emotional and just knew this was the place. Nowhere else compared after that. I loved having a cottage on the grounds where all my girls could stay the night before and then spend the morning with me.

The outdoor aisle had a red carpet with lanterns and tea lights hanging in the trees.

Our centrepieces were a mix of pink and white blossom trees, and fl owers.

My bouquet was pure white, whereas all the other arrangements were accented with pink blooms amongst the white. The cake had fi ve tiers and was decorated in pink and white with fresh fl owers and our initials. The sponges were fl avoured with raspberry for some layers and salted caramel for the others.

As we lived in Dubai for many years and it means so much to us, we decided to name all our tables after our favourite places there. We dined on a threecourse wedding breakfast and enjoyed fi sh and chip cones in the evening. We had little sweet jars as favours with pink and blue ribbon tied around them. Each guest was also given a tequila shot in a mini jar with a salt sachet and a note that read: “Take a shot we tied the knot.” Place names were tiny chalk boards adorned with ribbon and pearls.

I wore Diva by Naama & Anat. I tried on around 100 dresses all over the world, but this one stood out. It had glamorous sparkle, with a backless mesh and a shape that complemented by fi gure. The groom wore a navy tail suit with a waistcoat and pale pink cravat. His groomsmen were all dressed navy tail suits too but without waistcoats and accessorised with pink ties, allowing David to stand out.

My bridesmaids wore pale pink fi shtail dresses with pearl belts and drop backs A singer entertained guests throughout the day and his band came to join him in the evening. This performance was followed by a DJ.

We also had a photo studio, casino blackjack table and giant garden games. We’d been taking dance lessons together so our fi rst dance was a real highlight. David was so nervous but he nailed it!.

We went to Mexico for two weeks. We both had an amazing time and didn’t want to come home. Make sure you book an amazing photographer and videographer as they will capture the memories you can look back on. Also, relax throughout the day. We really did and enjoyed ourselves so much.
