ST GEORGE’S HALL

Recognised as one of the finest neoclassical buildings in the world, the Grade I listed St George’s Hall opened in 1854 as an expression of the confidence and ambition the Victorians had for Liverpool. Standing proud on St George’s Plateau and famed for its Corinthian columns, Queen Victoria once described the Hall’s exterior as “worthy of ancient Athens,” and it remains that way today. To the west of this grand building you’ll find St John’s Gardens, which feature ornate flower beds and offer a lovely spot for those all-important photographs. What’s more, outside on the terrace, located on the central portico beneath 16 Corinthian columns, there’s space available to hire for an al fresco drinks reception.

Ceremonies can be held in one of two spaces, both with enormous capacities, so no need to worry about the size of your guest list here! With its impressive chandeliers, huge bronze doors and marbled walls adorned with statues and stained-glass windows, the Great Hall simply oozes magnificence, sure to leave your guests enthralled. It can accommodate 800 for the “I dos,” 550 for the wedding breakfast and 550 for the evening do (500 with a dancefloor).

Equally astounding is the Concert Room, which features an opulent crystal chandelier and walls lined with goddess-like statues, all decorated in gentle tones of cream, white, honey and gold. Ravenhead glass mirrors create reflections around the stage, which offers the ideal space for a string-quartet or pianist. The space can hold 450 for the vows, 80 for the wedding breakfast, and 120 for the evening bash.
