Whetheryou’re a regular reader or newly engaged, welcome to our summer issue. As always, our June/July issue is full of inspiration, but my favourite part is the catering feature. I look forward to writing it every year, even if it does make me incredibly hungry afterwards! When I got married last year, we went back and forth about what to have for our wedding breakfast and reception. My husband (it still feels weird saying that) loves anything hot and spicy, while I can’t get enough of anything sweet. After talking to our family, we decided to go for a two-course barbecue so that there would be something to please all of our guests.

If you’re struggling to find the perfect company or cuisine, start by searching online and looking in magazines for inspiration. Before you commit, look at their past work to see if they can create the menu that you’re after. It’s also important to read their reviews, see if they’re in your price range and check that they’re available on your date. To meet some of the best local catering companies and get heaps of inspiration, head over to our catering and drinks feature on page 49.

Like most modern couples, Amy and Jake met online, and their relationship quickly blossomed. Years later, they tied the knot surrounded by friends and family.

A Fabulous Offer

Lancashire Manor Hotel is a charming ivy-covered property with parts that date back to the 16th century. The original stone manor house is at the heart of the hotel and contains the lounge area and above, in the original farmhouse bedrooms, is the honeymoon suite. The glass fronted reception connects the lounge to the traditional Great Hall and contemporary Lathom suite.

Guests can enjoy the garden, with colours that change throughout the seasons, and the patio which has a giant chess set.

The Great Hall is one of the most beautiful traditional halls in the North West, complete with a galleried balcony, great acoustics, crystal chandeliers and a golden bar. The outdoor patio offers a brilliant platform for those arrival drinks and photos.

For 2023, the hotel is offering its Starlight Package. Costing £3,500, it includes the civil ceremony room hire from 4pm, floral arrangements for the ceremony table and centrepieces, chair covers, a glass of fizz after the ceremony, blossom trees, a barbecue or buffet, a DJ and overnight accommodation in one of the bridal suites. Couples will also have use of the Great Hall for the evening reception.

Available on remaining Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays before 30th November 2023, the package is designed for 80 guests, but more can be added if needed at an additional charge. Check out www.lancashiremanorhotel.com for more information.
