The Idle Rocks and St. Mawes Hotel, both situated in St Mawes which was recently voted the UK’s Best Seaside Town, are the perfect destinations for a wedding. Whether couples are looking for something small and intimate or a larger celebration, both hotels enjoy a unique seafront location making them ideal for a coastal celebration.
With a wedding licence and exclusive hire offered, the luxury seaside property St Mawes Hotel is available for weddings and ceremonies all year round. With seven bedrooms, it’s ideal for smaller intimate celebrations for up to 14 guests. The hotel also offers a hidden cinema and courtyard space.
At boutique hotel The Idle Rocks, wedding season runs from October through to May where guests can expect a luxury escape from start to finish. This 18-bedroom hotel (including four harbour view rooms in an adjoining cottage with two being dog friendly) can sleep up to 36 people and radiates coastal charm. Guests can dine at the chef’s table in the restaurant; outside on the waterside terrace overlooking the Fal Estuary or in the private dining room at the St Mawes Hotel which can accommodate up to 40 guests. The head chef at both properties, Dorian Janmaat, is on hand to ensure that all personal requirements are catered for, whether this is canapés for a drinks reception or a more formal dinner for the wedding night. Dorian has taken the hotel’s culinary offering from strength to strength characterised by his passion for cooking and perfection, which has also culminated in the restaurant winning multiple awards. Influenced by Asian flavours, Dorian curates exceptional menus that are a fusion of Cornwall’s best produce whilst embodying his culinary style. From starters to desserts, Dorian ensures that the ingredients used in his balanced, textured dishes are from the most sustainable suppliers.

TREDUDWELL MANOR WEDDING VENUE, FOWEY
This rural wedding venue and luxury bed and breakfast is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty amongst beautiful parkland brimming with colourful shrubs and lush green fields. It combines charming traditions with contemporary touches and has been lovingly renovated. Accessed via a sweeping driveway, the authentic stone exterior flanks this grand country residence that offers a beautiful big-day backdrop for photos.
The retreat is available for small, intimate weddings. Facing towards the Heritage Coastline with the sea on the horizon, Tredudwell Pavilion is a beautiful new addition to the venue that’s in keeping with the listed manor house. Constructed with Cornish stone, oak wood and a slate roof, the pavilion fuses old with new, combining the flexibility of a modern building with bi-fold doors to adapt the size of the rooms according to the number of guests, and incorporating traditional design elements, such as south-facing French windows that overlook the countryside. The granite terrace provides the perfect spot for a drinks reception in the sun, while the impressive, draped canvas ceiling and beautiful chandeliers add a feeling of grandeur.
Ceremonies take place inside the manor house in the Pavilion Ceremony Room for up to 150 guests. The glass bi-fold doors bring the outdoors in, creating the feel of an outdoor wedding whilst still being protected from the elements.
Outdoor ceremonies for up to 220 guests take place under the fairytale-inspired Ceremony Temples surrounding the pond creating a natural amphitheatre for seated guests ensuring that everybody has a good view. These temples are lit up at night creating a romantic ambience. Receptions take place in the light and airy Tredudwell Pavilion for up to 220 loved ones with its wooden porch and exposed beams, chandeliers and French windows that open to reveal the manicured grounds. The team at the venue provide a fully staffed and stocked bar and the retractable wall inside the pavilion allows for the evening entertainment to be set up without disturbing guests.

WHERE TO BOOK A MINIMOON IN THE AREA
Prepare to be wowed at Castle by the Water, a luxury holiday home in Cornwall that has been featured on several television programmes, most recently Rick Stein’s Cornwall, 2022. It sleeps up to 22 guests in 11 bedrooms making it the ideal choice for special occasions including hen parties, stag gatherings and wedding celebrations. Providing the full package, Castle by the Water, which sits in an imposing position on the banks of the River Tamar offers a plethora of on-site activities like wine tasting, paddle boarding, kayaking, clay pigeon shooting and 4x4 off-roading. There’s also a games room in the cellar and an outdoor swimming pool for guests to enjoy.

All of the camping fees go back into the club, including support to more than 150 youngsters in the youth development section. There are occasional football matches that begin in mid-July and all campers get free entry to all home matches. The showers are out of action for a short time while the matches take place, but some toilets are always available and it’s made up for by the fact the clubhouse is open for pasties and pints, with a pool table and table football available for guests’ use.
For those wanting a mini-moon or a family-moon in the area, this family friendly site is located a five minute drive from the stunning Mousehole harbour and the South West Coast Path is nearby, plus it’s a 25-minute drive from Land’s End, and 20 minutes from some of the top surfing spots. Electric hardstanding and grass motorhome pitches start at £20 per night for two people.
