Northside Farm is an exclusive use venue nestled in the heart of the Northumbrian countryside. Comprising a converted barn and a gin gang ceremony room, it’s surrounded by 70 acres of land, lakes and woodland. The luxurious glamping site boasts 10 timber glamping pods, each with a firepit; four whimsical fairytale style cottages – all with fully functioning luxury amenities – and space for additional tent or wigwam pitches.

Ceremonies for up to 150 can take place outside on the lawn, inside the barn or in the circular gin gang. The barn has a fully licensed wooden bar area adjoining to the floor-to-ceiling glass fronted main reception room, with flagstone flooring, exposed beams and brick walls. The circular gin gang, meanwhile, is a rustic and picturesque ceremony room with adjoining bridal dressing room. Outside the front of the barn and gin gang are manicured lawns used for drinks’ receptions in the summer, and a part-covered comfortable courtyard at the rear with stunning open fireplace, firepit for toasting marshmallows or for enjoying a BBQ buffet. After your reception – catered for up to 200 guests in the evening – it’s time to head back to the glamping site or luxury cottages situated just across the driveway.

Want a truly unique and alternative wedding? North Shire is very much the venue for you. This stunning wedding space, set amongst six acres of rolling North Yorkshire countryside, is a fully-licenced venue which prides itself on catering for any type of wedding you could wish for. From Viking or Hobbit celebrations, to wizard and witch-style affairs; they’ll happily adapt to every style of wedding or blessing you can imagine. Choose a ceremony on the lawn looking out over uninterrupted views of the sea; say your vows on The 11 Knights Stone Circle; marry in Hagrid’s Hut; or wed in The Orangery or The Enchanted Barn. They even offer handfasting affairs! Whatever you decide on, North Shire will cater for up to 450 wedding guests, with enough room to fit up to 75 overnight guests in their on-site fixed accommodation spaces and shepherd’s huts. You can even bring tents and tourers along, while the venue can organise vintage caravans and large furnished bell tents, too.

Psst ! Be sure to watch out for North Shire’s resident peacock – named Fawkes like the phoenix in Harry Potter!

PINCHINTHORPE HALL

A stone-built Grade II listed country house oozing character, Pinchingthorpe Hall was built in the late 1500s; having had various alterations over the centuries. An intimate classic country house based on a medieval site with its very own moat and Victorian gates, it’s set in stunning grounds with picturesque views of Roseberry Topping and the North York Moors. There are five rooms all licensed for ceremonies at the hall, although the Billiard Room, seating 60, is usually the favourite, with its flooding of daylight, beautiful architecture and stunning views. You can combine this for a larger wedding party of 75 with the Drawing rooms, or for up to 100 in The Stables restaurant. Your breakfast then takes place across the Billiard and Drawing rooms, seating up to 75 across the two spaces. Then, for the evening, you can dance the night away in the Marble hall or The Stables with up to 120 of your nearest and dearest!

THE BOSK

The Bosk is a burnt larch cladded building set in the grounds of Breamish Valley Cottages. A modern take on country living with handmade tables, wooden sliding doors and gable glass end to show off the surrounding Cheviot Hills, it includes a bar made from wine boxes, along with full height ceremony room, private garden and stone-built pizza oven.

Ceremonies for up to 60 guests can take place in any of the outdoor areas within Breamish Valley Cottages, or inside the main area of The Bosk itself. Receptions are then held in The Bosk, seating 60 friends and family on long tables.

Psst! Be sure to take advantage of the 11 holiday cottages available to hire, which can sleep up to 54 guests, as well as the site’s very own swimming pool and Jacuzzi.

Nestled in the countryside, Walworth Castle Hotel can host your wedding from start to finish. The original part of the castle dates back to 1189, all of which is evident by the circular turrets, featured stonework and beautiful stained glass windows which adorn the property. Set in 18 acres of lawns and woodlands, Walworth Castle Hotel offers wedding photo opportunities aplenty, from the castle itself to the wishing well or even beside the oak trees – which are well over 100 years old.

Your vows can be taken in any number of spaces, starting with the beautiful Ballroom, complete with 16th century coving and architecture and able to host up to 100 guests. If the sun is shining, choose to say ‘I do’ in Lady Palmers Pavilion, an outdoor ceremony garden which is very popular during the summer months. Or, if you’re looking for something really different, why not get married in a dungeon? Yes, you really did read that correctly – Walworth Castle has its very own dungeon licenced for ceremonies for up to 40!

Wherever you choose to wed, you’ll have the entire venue to yourself, as Walworth hosts only one wedding per day. After the day and night is over, retire to the stunning King James Suite, one of the largest suites in the North East and complete with double jacuzzi bath and four poster bed in the castle’s turret. It’s the actual room King James IV stayed in, back in 1603 when he travelled down from Scotland for his coronation!
