Why Women Deserve More Than 10 Minutes

There is something wonderfully restorative about slowing down.

Whether it’s a walk through the countryside, time in the garden or simply enjoying a quiet cup of tea, taking time to pause allows us to reconnect with ourselves. Yet for many women, that opportunity rarely comes.

We spend years caring for everyone else while our own health slips quietly to the bottom of the list. When we begin to feel different, we often tell ourselves it’s stress, getting older or simply something we’ll deal with another day.

For many women, however, these are the first signs of the perimenopause or menopause.

While hot flushes are well known, fluctuating hormones can also affect sleep, mood, confidence, memory, joints, bladder health and energy levels. Every woman’s experience is different, which is why there is no one-size-fits-all approach.

As a GP with a specialist interest in women’s health, and a British Menopause Society Registered Menopause Specialist, I’ve supported hundreds of women through this stage of life. One thing has become very clear: “Women deserve more than 10 minutes.”

That belief inspired me to establish Time to Pause – Menopause & Women’s Health Clinic, where appointments are designed to give women the time to talk, ask questions, understand their options and make informed decisions about their health.

Although menopause is a large part of my work, Time to Pause is about much more than menopause.

I offer longer, personalised appointments covering all aspects of women’s health, including cervical screening, contraception, troublesome periods, menopause after breast cancer treatment, surgical menopause, premature ovarian insufficiency (early menopause) and hormone advice. Whether you’re looking for reassurance, treatment or simply answers to questions you’ve never had time to ask, every consultation is tailored to you.

Appointments are available both in person at Stockton House near Southam and online, making specialist women’s healthcare accessible wherever you are in the UK. The years around menopause are also an opportunity to think about the future. As hormones change, so too can our heart health, bones, muscles and metabolism. Together we can discuss prevention as well as treatment—from protecting your bones and cardiovascular health to improving sleep, mental wellbeing and long-term health.

Following several years in the best British and European kitchens, he established Simpsons with his wife Alison in 1993. The restaurant became a training ground for successful chefs and led to Andreas’ first Michelin star in 1999. He opened The Cross at Kenilworth in 2013, securing a Michelin star within its first year.

Andreas’ approach to running restaurants comes from the heart: “Hospitality

begins at home, it’s the smile and joy felt when welcoming people through the door. I try to run my businesses like this and I want my teams to feel genuinely happy when they greet our guests. It’s always great to see old friends but I’m equally happy to see new faces.

“At The Cross, we don’t just want to be known as a restaurant for special occasions. That’s why I introduced the pub classics menu - British pub food elevated to Michelin standards. We are also bringing in a new à la carte menu reflecting the best British seasonal produce and inspired by our personal culinary journeys. I’m particularly excited about bringing back the Lamb Kleftiko - one of my signature dishes from my Greek Cypriot roots.”
