The Chamber recently published its Pre Budget 2023 Submission. This Budget is taking place during a time of significant turbulence and pressure for many businesses, employees, and communities. A focused strategic investment in infrastructure is vital for the Kildare’s continued growth, through continued development in areas such as housing, sustainable transport, energy, and active travel.

Some of our main asks included • Increases in capital spending for affordable and social housing in urban aera identified by the NPF

• Introduction of Zoned Land Tax at a rate of 7%

• Capital Gains Tax rate should be reduced from 33% to 20% to incentivise the release of residential property back into the market.

• Financial support for the delivery of the electrification expansion of the Maynooth Dart+

West rail line.

• Introduction of a flexi tax saver ticket for hybrid workers

• Accelerated rollout of fast charging points nationwide for EV’s, with particular focus on regional areas.

• Increased investment in childcare services, and early education infrastructure.

• Simplified work permit process

• Introduction of a skill tax credit, to encourage employers to invest in training for workers with lower qualifications. HR Roundtables

Against the backdrop of economic challenges, Covid-19 and an ever-changing HR landscape, the time for HR to support and lead out in their Organisations is now. To support the thinking, reflection, sharing of ideas and best practices and planning, County Kildare Chamber in partnership with Adare Human Resource Management are facilitating a number of HR Roundtable opportunities for Senior HR Leaders and HR Directors.

These interactive HR Roundtable meetings will enable peer to peer learning and sharing through a structured process designed to support the ability to pivot your Organisations HR Strategic Planning journey each year.

Criteria to attend: 1. Current member of County Kildare Chamber

2. Experienced HP practitioner working in business with 20+ employees

Chamber Policy Advisor Council:

The Policy Advisory Council has held meetings in Q1 & Q2 so far this year. The Council is utilised by the Chamber for soundings on policy position and possible lobbying activities. With 17 members, from different business and geographical spread of the County, it is a strong and useful tool for the Chamber. You can find more about the work of the Policy Advisory Council and its membership here. Minister Damien English T.D. will be attending the next Advisory Council meeting and will participate in a discussion around the current business climate in Kildare and outline key takeaways from Budget 2023.
