Triton launched its unique deep soil engagement direct drill in 2018 to give plough based yields from direct drilling. 6 years later we are consistently achieving higher yields from the Triton than from ploughed trials on our own land. The Triton is the only all weather seed drill on the market that gives the flexibility to grow maximum profit autumn sown crops whilst reducing blackgrass from late drilling... several manufacturers are now also claiming all weather capability... if these are false claims then the farmer’s new approach will be thwarted. JCB unveils new on-farm materials handling machines at LAMMA

• Top-spec Agri Pro telehandlers

• More power for heavy-duty loader

• Two telescopic wheeled loaders

JCB will unveil an unprecedented number of new machines for onfarm materials at this month’s LAMMA show.

In addition to featuring the JCB Fastrac iCON high-speed tractors, the exhibit will showcase the Loadall telescopic handler and wheeled loaders purpose-built for agriculture.

New to the Loadall telehandler lineup are top-spec Agri Pro versions of the 538-60 and 560-80, the former bringing the 50kph DualTech VT hydro-mechanical transmission to the 6m class for the first time.

Low-speed control

This provides hydrostatic drive for precision low-speed control and auto powershift direct drive for efficient travel. The Agri Pro spec also features an uprated driveline with heavier-duty axles, wider tyres and dual-axle power braking system.

For high-lift operations – particularly stacking and retrieving bales –the new JCB Loadall 542-100 combines 4.2 tonne lift capacity and 9.8m lift height with the 40kph or 50kph.

Reaching up:

JCB’s Loadall 542-100

Yet despite these all-round gains – including the heavier duty driveline on the 50kph version – the newcomer is no bigger than the continuing 536-95, so it has the manoeuvrability needed for every-day work in and around farm buildings.

Powering up: The new JCB 435S

Two new wheeled loaders are at opposite ends of the performance spectrum – the 403E Full Cab is a battery-

special control features to keep the operator warm and comfortable with least possible impact on work time.

Heavy-duty loader

Meanwhile, the latest JCB 435S heavyduty silage and muck loader gains significantly increased power and torque throughout the engine’s operating speed range, with peak power up 12% to 282hp equating to a 19hp per tonne power-to-weight ratio.

New six-speed powershift control features lift performance efficiency on the clamp and on the road. The 435S has a new load weighing option that can be factory-installed on other topend JCB wheeled loaders, as well as all full-size JCB Loadalls.

Compact size

JCB’s telescopic wheeled loader range gets two new mid-range machines – the TM280 with 109hp and hydrostatic drive, and the TM280S with 130hp and DualTech VT hydro-mechanical drive – in a package barely 2m wide. This compact size has been achieved by a new chassis design that houses the powertrain as low as possible while still delivering 2.75 tonne lift capacity and 4.8m lift height.

JCB also promises another new TM telescopic wheeled loader to further expand the already comprehensive range – but details are being kept under wraps until final specifications and equipment are decided.

ProCam to showcase precision farming service

Agronomy firm ProCam will exhibiting its FieldSense precision farming service for the first time at LAMMA.

Unveiled at the end of July 2024, FieldSense uses satellite imaging of field variability to drive tailored variable rate seed, fertiliser and lime applications, aimed at improving economic crop output and delivering environmental gains.

Partnership

ProCam agronomists who interpret the satellite maps to produce the variable rate drilling and fertiliser spreading files – working with growers rather than leaving them to figure everything out themselves.

“It is very much precision agronomy through partnership,” says Simon Francis, ProCam’s UK technical and services manager.

With the drive to use inputs more efficiently and in more sustainable and environmentally friendly ways,

Mr Francis says FieldSense aims to make precision farming simpler and more accessible for growers facing busy workloads.

The variable rate drilling package in FieldSense uses historical NDVI satellite maps that are available that show the variations in crop biomass that have occurred in that field over multiple years.

Planning

Results are then used to create a var iable seed rate plan – to drill propor tionally more seed in historically low er biomass grid squares and less seed where less is needed – with the aim of achieving a uniform, optimum tiller density over the whole field

LAMMA will be the first event where ProCam showcases the system on a large scale, says Mr Francis. Visitors to the stand will be able to see IT-based demonstrations and hear how it can be tailored to, and benefit, individual farm needs, he adds.

The FieldSense system aims to improve economic crop output

The rollout of FieldSense has come at an ideal time due to potential Sustainable Farming Incentive payments which are available for variable rate nutrient applications.

Visitors can also find out about other ProCam services and products. These include the company’s wider agronomy and fieldwalking services; and nutrient planning.

New subsoiler marks 20 years of engineering

Cultivation equipment maker NRH Engineering will mark its 20th anniversary at LAMMA by unveiling a new machine – and a new brand identity.

Developed in response to requests from its dealer network and farmers, the low disturbance Tremor subsoiler is billed as a high-strength, value-for-money, versatile three-metre subsoiler which can be configured with a five, six, or seven legs.

Performance guarantee

Manufactured from SJ355 high tensile box sections, it is available as a shear-bolt (SB) or auto-reset (AR) model to guarantee performance irrespective of soil type. Both models offer an extensive range of options and high-quality components.

NRH Engineering has used 450mm serrated straight cutting discs made from Boron Steel. This gives customers the option of three types of low disturbance legs all made from Hardox500 hardened steel.

The feet are precision high-chrome castings with differing levels of solid tungsten and tungsten carbide overlay protection. Finally, there is the choice of two types of

packers, a 750mm and 650mm version, both of which are hydraulically adjustable.

The 750mm diameter toothed packer roller includes teeth to avoid soil smear. This closes the surface after the legs to leave an aerated, consolidated and level finish that aids aeration and water penetration.

The 650mm pressed steel packer roller features castellated rings, allowing it to rotate in light and medium soils with an aggressive rib and shoulder profile, leaving a consolidated weatherproof finish.

NRH Engineering has equipped the Tremor with hydraulic disc and packer roller depth adjustment, allowing adjustments to be made from the cab. Transport width is 3.1m for the rigid model and less than 3m for the folding version.

LAMMA 2025 will see NRH Engineering mark its 20th year in business by introducing new modern branding, starting with the logo or machine decals, says company director Neil Hopwood.

Bale wrap manufacturer Berry Global is kicking off a fourmonth roadshow initiative at this month’s LAMMA event.

The roadshows aim to highlight the benefits of Silotite Film&Film wrapping to farmers and contractors – and review best practice. They will take place throughout the UK and Ireland from February to May.

Berry Global technical training manager Stuart Anthony says the

roadshows will provide technical and practical demonstrations. Registered attendees will have the chance to win SilotitePro1800 Sustane bale wrap and Baletite baler film.

Film&Film wrapping combines bale wrap with a baler film, instead of traditional net wrap. Benefits are said to include a tighter bale with higher density – and a more efficient product. Silotite will be on stand 732 in hall 10 at LAMMA.

New seeder options to boost establishment

He-va’s Top Strigle straw harrow created a significant amount of interest when it was launched at LAMMA 2024 – and has already been a great success.

Its performance is particularly impressive thanks to its heavy-duty construction. This heavyweight build means – even in the hardest soil conditions – it can penetrate the surface, distribute crop residue and create a tilth to prompt a lush of weeds.

Stale seedbed

The addition of turbo discs to 3m-9m models intensifies the movement of soil, increasing the weed chit to help in the fight against problem weeds such as blackgrass and ryegrass by creating a stale seedbed.

Working directly behind the combine, the Top Strigle’s Turbo Discs and five rows of heavy-duty harrow tines spread trash and create a micro tilth to prompt a flush of growth.

Equally as important as the need to generate a chit of weeds, the harrow disturbs slug eggs exposing them to sunlight and destroying the next gen eration of mollusc pests before they emerge.

Power requirement for the straw harrow is based on the need for an ef fective working speed. As an exam ple, a 6m Top Strigle would ideally be mounted on a 155-180hp tractor. Pric es start from £11,227.

Multipurpose

Also launched at LAMMA, the Grass Combi multi-purpose harrow is now available with a Stocks AG Turbo Jet 10 Applicator to meet increased demand for seeding cover crop and other SFI seed mixes.

The HE-VA Grass Combi fitted with a Stocks Ag Turbo Jet 10 is a true multi-purpose tool. Levelling boards,

heavy duty spring tines and the option to tow a set of rolls mean it can be used for pasture rejuvenation and cover crop establishment.

The Stocks AG Turbo Jet 10 seeder is available with a 240L or 400L hopper, and up to 20 spreader-plate outlets. It can apply higher rates of seed at faster forward speeds and can be fitted with a high-capacity metering block for larger seeds if required.

The Turbo Jet can be set up to apply, in bands or in rows as required with the spreader plate outlets configured as necessary. Three different control systems can be specified: the Jackel, the i-CON, and ISOBUS ready.

The Grass Combi with Stocks Ag Turbo Jet 10 retails at £22,322.

He-va will be on Opic’s 440 stand in Hall 6 at LAMMA.

Higher capacity self-propelled feeder unveiled

Ahigher-capacity self-propelled diet feeder will be launched by BvL at LAM MA – including a number of new fea tures.

The new V-Mix Drive Maximus Plus selfpropelled diet feeder has a 25m3 capacity. Cur rently the range is available with either a sin gle or twin auger with capacities from 11m 21m3 – powered by either a FPT 128hp 4-cyl inder or 224hp 6-cylinder engines.

The new twin auger 25m3 version represents a step up in capacity with a resulting increase in productivity and efficiency.

As with current models in the V-Mix Drive Maximus Plus range, the new higher capaci ty model features the well proven BvL loading head fitted with tines instead of knives to comb the silage from the clamp face, so preserving its plant structure.

When loading the V-Mix Drive Maximus Plus at the silage clamp, the creep speed func tion enables the driver to set the maximum travel speed while allowing fine adjustment manoeuvring at the silage face.

After the diet-feeder hopper is filled, the automatic mixing system can be activated at the push of a button. There are settings for the auger speed and mixing time. The result is a consistent feed mix every day. When the set
