SUGAR RAY When “Sugar Ray’s” breakthrough hit song “Fly” put them on the map in 1997, lead vocalist Mark McGrath was thrust into the public eye. McGrath first appeared with Sugar Ray (then known as the Shrinky Dinx) when he jumped on stage and grabbed the microphone. Two years later, in 1994, the band changed its name and landed a deal with Atlantic Records. Shortly after, in 1997, the band’s collaboration with reggae artist Super Cat resulted in the song “Fly,” which dominated the airwaves. Later that year, and following the success of their number-one hit, Sugar Ray released its second album, “Floored,” which went double-platinum. Capping-off another great Fair this year will be the Demolition Derby hosted by Havoc Productions. This year marks the 21st time Havoc has put on this event and it continues to draw a very large crowd on Saturday night. Come smell the exhaust and hear the engines rumble in this fun for the whole family event! Don’t forget earplugs for the little ones. The PIG-N-FORD RACES are world famous and have been part of the Tillamook County Fair for the past ninety-five years. This event always fills the Averill Arena to capacity. There will be two races Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, starting at 5:30 p.m. Winners of these races will compete in the World Championship Finals on Saturday immediately following the two qualifying races. Be sure to get your seat in the grandstands early to enjoy these crowd-pleasing and exciting races.

2019 DENNIS HURLEY RACE MEET
Pari-Mutuel Horse Racing will be again providing fun, excitement and a chance to wager during the Tillamook County Fair. There will be four days of Horse Racing with eight races on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and nine races on Saturday. Post time will be 1:00 p.m. each day. Horsemen will be vying for over $100,000 in purse money thanks to the support from the Oregon Racing Commission, Oregon Thoroughbred Owners & Breeders Association, Oregon Horseman’s Benevolent Protective Association and Oregon Quarter Horse Racing Association, as well as local businesses and families sponsoring twelve feature races.

WELCOME TO THE 2019 TILLAMOOK COUNTY FAIR The Tillamook County Fair Board and staff welcome you to the 2019 Tillamook County Fair. The theme for this year’s Fair is “Country Nights and Carnival Lights.” Come and enjoy this 128 year tradition of old time Country fun! The Tillamook County Fair rightly received its recognition as one of the top ten Blue Ribbon fairs in the nation because it is so unique and offers so much for fairgoers to enjoy for free, with their paid admission. Fairgoers will be able to see all of the 4H/FFA animals, Open Class and 4-H exhibits that have been prepared by Tillamook County residents, as well as wander through this year’s menagerie of food booths and commercial exhibitors. Be sure to stop by the Pioneer Building, located in the Courtyard, and say Hello. In our Skating Rink/Auditorium, the Tillamook County Creamery Association is sponsoring “The Oregon Bird Man” with his dazzling Aviary presentations featured on Wednesday & Thursday, from Noon to 6pm, and Friday and Saturday they are hosting the Dairy Done Right Lounge from Noon to 4 pm. Fairgoers can watch daily courtyard entertainment from 10am to 8pm, including Local Dance performances, Hypnotist – Joe Black, entertainer extraordinaire – Jeff Martin, exciting rhythms by The Street Drum Corps and Tillamook’s Got Talent competition. You can participate in the daily Tillamook Ice Cream tasting contest, Saturday’s “Best Beard” competition or go hang out with Brads World of Reptiles. The balloon artists Dr. Fun and Dr. Good are sure to have you smiling while making something special for you. Evan Egerer – Solo musical artist will perform on Wednesday, as well as Gospel Sing. Big Foot Mojo and the Perry Gerber Band will have your toes tapping on Thursday. Brothers Blue and Back in Black will entertain you on Saturday. In Fair Acres there will be free hands on activities for kids, Local School displays, beekeepers educational displays and a performance center with various daily entertainment. Fairgoers will also have the opportunity to enjoy four days of live pari-mutuel Horse Racing, 33 races in all and experience the daily excitement during the 95th Anniversary, World famous Pig-N-Ford Races. There will be four Free Grandstand shows featuring Tracy Byrd on Wednesday, Drake White & the Big Fire on Thursday, Sugar Ray on Friday and Tillamook’s favorite, the Demolition Derby on Saturday evening.

Black was born and raised in Seattle Washington. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and spent six years defending our country. In 1996 while in the service, he met a man who changed his life. The man’s name was Brian McDaniels. Brian was and is a professional touring hypnotist and magician. At the time Joe was an amateur magician and had impressed Brian so much that he decided to take Joe under his wing and show him how to perform on the big stage. Joe was so shy that at first he did not think he was up for the challenge but after his first show he was hooked. He knew what he wanted to do with the rest of his life, to perform! Joe spent most of his spare time after that developing his show and his skills on all levels. Today Joe delivers world-class entertainment and has performed internationally for over two decades! His hard work developing his craft has led him to perform on some of the largest stages to include America’s Got Talent and to win the “Rising Star Award” two years in a row! His abilities have been used to create amazing events at several fortune 500 company parties, including Microsoft, Expedia, Frito-Lay, and Kellogg! We began serving the area when our dad, Don Burden, opened shop back in 1970 at the north entry to downtown Tillamook where the recently torn down Shell station was located. Back then it was a Texaco. Dad still works at Burden’s with our mom, Linnea, and their son, Rick, and daughter Sylvia, as well as grandson Jeremy.

DR. FUN AND DR. GOOD FAIR ACRES LEARNING CENTER Fair Acres is an interactive agriculture based exhibit for kids of all ages. Free activities for everyone include farmer for a day, how to milk a cow and pedal tractor courses. Balloon Artists Dr. Fun and Dr. Good have been a part of the Tillamook County Fair for over twenty years. They can be found each day of the fair from noon to 4:00 pm near the East end of the TLC Stadium in the Courtyard creating animals and hats out of balloons. Fairgoers of all ages enjoy having Dr. Fun and Dr. Good share their balloon artistry with them.

ome enjoy the Fair Talent Show on the Courtyard Stage. The Semi-final rounds will take place at the Tillamook County Fair on Wednesday, and Thursday on the Courtyard Stage. Wednesday August 7th semi-finals will be held at 11:30am for kids ages 1-9. Semifinals on Thursday, August 8th will begin at 11:30 for youth ages 10-17, and adults, 18 years and older, will begin at 12:45pm. The finalists will compete Friday, August 9th at 2:30pm on the Courtyard Stage during the Tillamook County Fair. Cash prizes will be awarded to all 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each division.

ABOUT YOUR FAIR BOARD The Tillamook County Fair Board consists of five citizens representing the entire county and are appointed by the County Commissioners. They oversee and set policy for the annual fair, year round operations of the fairgrounds and hire the Fair Manager . The Fair Board is very active throughout the year working on projects and puts in extensive hours before and during the Fair. Camy VonSeggern is completing her 3rd Fair as the Fairgrounds Manager. She is dedicated to preserving the Traditions of this award winning Fair, while keeping up with current trends and seeking new ideas to keep our Fair relevant. One main focus will be to strengthen our community partnerships to ensure that we can offer the best experience for fairgoers and a facility to showcase what Tillamook has to offer. Don Averill is President of the Fair Board. Don and his wife, Jo, own and operate Don Averill Trucking, Recycling and Averill Dairy. They reside in Bay City. Don is President and oversees the entire horse racing operations and he also helps to set up the arena for the demolition derby and grandstand shows. Don has continued to donate his time and equipment for fairground improvements and willing to do whatever it takes to make things happen. Bob Larson and his wife Carmen and family have always been involved in Tillamook County. Bob is the Secretary of the Fair Board. His family have worked and

played here and look forward to helping improve the facilities and bringing bigger and better events to the fairgrounds in the future. Bob was the main backbone of pulling off the first Bulls & Barrels event and it was even better this year! Jon Wehage has worked as a forester for Stimson Lumber Company for the past 24 years. He & his wife Tanya have lived in Tillamook for 17 years and have 3 wonderful children. Jon & his family are very involved in 4-H youth programs and he is on the Junior Livestock Auction Committee. Jon is committed to the continual improvement and future growth of the Fairgrounds. Josh Brown was born and raised in Tillamook with a long family history in this community. Josh and his wife, Kelli have been married for 25 years and have four children together which keep them both very busy. He enjoys all types of sports, but especially football and baseball, and he is an avid hunter. Josh looks forward to being a part of the many improvements to the future of the fairgrounds Dennis Greiner settled in Tillamook in 2012 with his wife Lisa (a Tillamook county native), after living in various cities on the east and west coasts. He is a US Navy veteran with an extensive aviation background, and enjoys working on dirt bikes, cars, and anything mechanical. You might catch him riding dirt bikes out on the trails in his spare time. Dennis is excited to join the fair board and be a part of the fairgrounds new growth.
COURTYARD ENTERTAINMENT
The Courtyard Stage is the “Hub” of the fairgrounds. Not only is it the meeting place for friends and family, but fairgoers can also watch a wide variety of entertainment acts during the fair. The Courtyard Stage is busy daily from 10:00 am to 7:30 pm. This year the Fair Board has scheduled a full line-up of entertainment including Tillamook School of Dance, Oregon Coast Dance Center, Dance Zone, The Ice Cream Tasting Contest, The Birdsong Family, Street Drum Corp, Jeff Martin - Sleightly Amazing-Seriously Entertainment, Joe Black – Hypnotist, Tillamook’s Got Talent - Talent Show, Perry Gerber Band, Evan Egerer, The Brothers of Blues & Cash in Black and Big Foot Mojo.
