Imprint Gallery is celebrating Stormy Weather Arts Festival 2019 with three shows.

“And Others” is a contemporary figurative exhibition introducing four new artists, Doug Whitfield, Carla O’Connor, Michael Kelly and Ruth Hunter. The show focuses on the nature of humanity rather than the depiction of the human form. It is about the people we are, believe ourselves to be, hope or fear others see us as, and how we see others.

The show also features the works of Duy Huynh, Emily McPhie and Aggie Zed. “Print” is an annual group printmaking exhibition showcasing the breadth and diversity of work achieved by the artists represented in the gallery’s printmaking collection.

Exhibiting artists include, Liza Jones, Jani Hoberg, Marit Berg, Patricia L. Giraud and Keaney Rathbun. Keaney Rathbun will be leading a two-day color silkscreen class in the gallery’s studio over the weekend. This workshop can be booked on the gallery’s website at www.imprintgallery.com.

The gallery is also presenting an exhibit of mixed media sculpture as a vehicle to introduce the work of Geoffrey Gorman. Geoffrey Gorman is an established sculptor who has had significant influence in the genre of mixed media sculpture using found, recycled and unusual materials. The show also features new works by John Taylor.

Hemock Street | Cannon Beach www.whitebirdgallery.com 503.436.2681 New Exhibition Opening November 2nd Exhibition continues through January 6th White Bird Gallery will be hosting a variety of artistic happenings during Stormy Weather Arts Festival, several new artists who are innovative in their approach to media are part of the new exhibition. Guest artist Valerie Savarie is traveling from Colorado to demonstrate her altered book sculpture techniques in the gallery. Savarie uses vintage books as the centerpiece of her creations, reinventing them into unique pieces through cutting, carving, stitching and character illustrations that are part of a larger visual storytelling. Valerie’s multi-dimensional book collages form an inseparable bond between words and visual arts. She will be showing a collection of altered book art during the new exhibition.

Tom Cramer is a native Oregonian and well-known artist who creates meticulously carved, painted and gilded wood reliefs.

Cramer gained much recognition throughout Portland in the 1980’s and 90’s for his landmark outdoor murals, wildly painted art cars and carved miniature totems – all of which are bright, bold and lean toward American pop-culture. This show revisits those themes in a series of new paintings, functional art and his

signature carved Totem sculptures. Cramer is currently the feature of a museum show that maps out the origins of his career, from early drawings, to paintings and three-dimensional works.

It’s on view at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art in Eugene through December. Tom will be present to talk about the many facets of his artwork at the Stormy Weather Arts Festival Reception in Cannon Beach on November 2nd at White Bird Gallery from 5-7pm The gallery will also be showcasing new reductive wood sculptures by Eugene-based artist Shadowfox. These pieces depict meticulous renditions of animals, trees and nature-inspired narratives through hand-made layered wood relief. Local artist Stirling Gorsuch has a new series of monoprints that will be shown unframed, emphasizing his tactile materials and process.

New artist Jon Norquist uses black coffee as his innovative medium to create sepia toned images that pay homage to the nature and adventure of the Northwest. Long-time gallery artist Helga Winter has been using reclaimed library books for her mixed media wall hangings. Her works speak about disseminating stored knowledge and making room for new ideas. These poetic assemblages display a thoughtful use of media for Helga Winter who is known in the region for skilled wood-turnings.

The Sesame and Lilies Upstairs Art Gallery, located on the second floor of the Cannon Beach Mall, features paintings by Diane Speakman. Speakman specializes in seascapes, birds and animal portraits in oil on canvas and hardboard. She has been painting on the Oregon coast for twenty plus years. Her use of a moderate pallete to render the soft hues of the northwest coast gives her paintings an impressionistic feel. Her interest in plein air painting has impelled her to begin working outdoors in Maine as well as in Oregon. Her new works, which include Maine seascapes, and animal portraits, are currently showing at Sesame+Lilies Upstairs Art Gallery.
