INFORMATION
Newport Parks and Recreation Summer 2016 Activity Guide http://www.newportoregon.gov/Recreation
The days are longer and the streets are getting full of guests and motor homes. These are signs that Summer is coming and it is coming really fast. With all the increased activity and people
unfamiliar with our streets, it is worth mentioning that extra care should be taken when driving. Kids are especially hard to see when there are parked cars or construction equipment on the street. Slow down, stay alert, and use your horn if you need to get someone’s attention. Have you seen the new pool lately? The walls are almost all up and the plumbing and mechanical systems are in place. Earth moving is starting again, and the crane to set the roof in place will be on-site within a month. The specialized pool

contractor has set up shop in the control trailer, and a flurry of preparation is taking place before actually pouring the pools. There are a lot of moving parts right now, and the weather could not have cooperated better with us. The good news is that we are no longer working on street improvements because they are all complete. The dust has been minimal and most patrons have figured out where to park and how to access the facilities. Thank you for your patience through this phase of construction.
Many great recreational opportunities are available right here in town. I encourage everyone to try something new this summer, or at least try something that you haven’t done in a long time. It can be indoors or outdoors or both, like PICKLEBALL for example. If you have never tried it, then this is your summer to learn more about the fastest growing sport in the country right now. Give us a call..
Enjoy,
Jim Protiva

Tuesdays, 11:45 – 12:45 pm
This is a slow and gentle yoga class that will soothe and relax you like nothing else. Unlike the power yoga classes, this class moves slowly through the poses, and holds them for longer lengths of time so you can soak in and reap the full benefits of each posture. This class is still dynamic and will stretch and lengthen every muscle in your body from your head to your toes, but it will do so in a gentle, soothing, and relaxing way. Instructor Kelly Ardinger
