Dr. Espeland to Retire from Fallon Medical Complex Fallon Medical Complex (FMC) would like to announce that Dr. Darryl Espeland, DO, will be retiring from his full-time medical practice as of October 20, 2016. FMC will be holding a retirement event for Dr. Espeland on that date from 24 p.m. in the FMC Dining Room. In a statement to his patients, Dr. Espeland said, “I have considered it a privilege to serve my patients in this community and to take part in their care, as well as that of their loved ones, for the past 29 years. While looking back over those three decades, I am overwhelmed with the large number of patients who I have served as their medical provider. I wish I could personally notify all of them in some manner, but the task would be

daunting.” For this reason, Dr. Espeland and FMC have chosen to provide public notices of his departure. Dr. Espeland further expressed that FMC employs fine, caring providers who, in his opinion, are more than capable of continuing his patients’ medical care. David Espeland, FMC’s CEO, concurs. “Dr. Espeland has undeniably been an integral part of our ongoing success at FMC,” he stated. “It is hard to imagine coming to work without routinely seeing him here, yet we wish him well in his retirement. I agree that Dr. Trivisonno, Dr. Sullivan, Paul Wheeler, Leanne Breihahn and Travis Allen are all excellent providers. Dr. Espeland would not leave his full-time prac-

tice if he did not think that his patients would be well-attended by FMC’s other providers.” Patients calling for clinic appointments who have routinely seen Dr. Espeland will be given an opportunity to choose one of FMC’s other providers. And, if a patient should decide to seek ongoing medical care with a provider not associated with FMC, the facility will transfer copies of medical records to the provider of their choice upon the completion of the appropriate authorization form. John 15:13 National headlines on September 4 spoke of a 23-year-old college student, Tom Patterson, who sacrificed his life to help save four swimmers from the raging Missouri River near Elk Point, SD. This young hero is the son of Walter and Joene (Olind) Patterson, formerly of Baker. Joene graduated from Baker High School in 1979. Grandparents are George and Barbara Olind of Baker. Many in the Baker community will remember Tom, because he spent a couple of summers here in Baker, working for Mitchell’s Oilfield Service as a roustabout and crane rigger. Dennis Twedt, Mitchell’s area manager said, ”Tom was a very talented young gentleman, he was very intelligent, well liked and will be missed dearly.”
