Baker City Councilors take oath of office

By Sherry Vogel The Baker City Council convened for their regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m., Jan. 6, 2016. Mayor Clayton Hornung conducted a swearing in ceremony of two newly elected council persons. The newly elected women may have familiar faces. JoDee Pratt, a long time member of the community, has served previously on the City Council. Leigh Ann LaCroix, who has lived in the community for three years, was previously employed at the Insurance Store selling health insurance.

LaCroix moved to Baker when her husband Justin accepted a position as sergeant with the Baker Police Department. A native of the South, LaCroix was born in Georgia and raised and graduated high school in Alabama. She met her husband when she served four years in the U.S. Air Force as an electro-environmental technician on KC-135 refueling jets. The LaCroixs have two daughters, Havyn, 12 years old, and Blakely, three years old. In her free time Leigh Ann loves spending time with her family, hunting with her husband, decorating her home and entertaining friends. She said they are a long way from family so their friends have be-

come their extended family.

Individuals within the community encouraged her to run for the position on the City Council. She stated, “I ran because I wanted to be a bigger part of addressing the needs of the city. My goal is to listen to the needs of each department and community member, then address those needs with my fellow Council members to make the best decision for the community as a whole.”

LaCroix added, “I truly appreciate all the votes I received.”

JoDee Huckins Pratt moved to Baker in 1969 when her father was hired to work for the Baker Cement Plant. Pratt graduated from Baker High School, and later married Jerry Pratt in 1974. Pratt and her late husband have two grown daughters, Jennefer Wheeler and Johnna Koenig, both of Baker. In her free time, Pratt enjoys photography, painting, restoring junk, and playing with her grandkids.

In 1996 Pratt, who has a passion for Baker, ran for City Council because she wanted to help clean up Baker. She was elected consecutively for five terms.

TAKE NOTE Broncs, Bulls and Barrels

By Sherry Vogel Baker, Montana is the place to be Saturday, Feb. 27, as Fallon County hosts the Broncs, Bulls, and Barrels Rodeo in the heated arena at the local fairgrounds. Bailey Pro Rodeo stock contractors from Baldwin, ND will be supplying the livestock for this action packed day.

The barrel racing competition will start at 9 a.m., followed by a lot of thrills and spills as saddle bronc and bull riders vie for prizes of added purses to each event.

Night performances will begin at 7:00 as the top 20 area cowboys “strut their stuff”, and the top 12 barrel racers “show us how it’s done”.

Second annual Coyote Calling Contest

By Sherry Vogel Thirty-seven teams came out to compete in the second annual Southeastern Montana Coyote Calling Contest held Jan. 8-9. Although it was a cold day, a total of 43 coyotes were brought in compared to the 28 that were hunted last year.

First place team was Will Ecord and Joe Teini, bringing in five coyotes. Second place team was Matt Napton, Jason Bechtold and Justin Bechtold with four coyotes. Third place team was Jason Haar and Chad Varner with three coyotes.

Fourth place went to Chandler Braaten, Sheldon Domagala and Kruz Robinson with three coyotes. Third and fourth place finishers were determined by total weight of the coyotes brought in.

The big dog competition was awarded to Michael Lynn and Zach Kadrmas.

Three guns were given away as door prizes. The lucky winners were Cody Heiser, Tom Leischner and Travis Krischik. Two guns raffled were won by Curtis Heiser and C.J. Truesdale.

Two Yeti coolers were won by Mark Thielen and Larry Steffes.

Three landowner gift certificates were given to Donald and Laurie MacKay, Gene and Rita Nemitz, and Larry and Peggy Niemerg.

The raffle for a $1,000 store certificate to Ace Hardware was won by Justin LaCroix.

The local hunt was organized by Trevor Nelson and Dustin Varner with volunteer help from Lexi Miller and Selena Nelson. It would not be possible without the outstanding support from local businesses, farmers and ranchers.

Volunteers needed for High School Rodeo A meeting has been scheduled for all those who would like to volunteer to help with the Montana High School Rodeo Finals in Baker, June 7-12.

New officials of the Plevna City Council taking oaths of office are Kalyn Bohle, mayor; and aldermen Larry Dahl, Norton Walker, and Shawn Sander. . . Ed Koenig turned 90 years old Dec. 13.

An open house celebration was held in his honor. . . Fallon Medical Complex Nursing Home was the scene of a celebration Dec. 3, 2005, to honor Ruth Ovitz on the occasion of her 100th birthday. . . Ian Murphy and Taryl Walker were the recipients of the Heywood Foundation Grand. This award give a 4-H or FFA youth $500 to use in their sheep projects. .

When District #12 school board met Jan. 10, Superintendent Ron Meredith submitted a letter of resignation effective July 1. . . Marion Hanson celebrated her 89th birthday Sunday. Residents of Parkview Manor hosted a gathering in her honor. . .

Speech and drama team will be at their divisional meet in Plentywood Jan. 21. . . Mrs. Denise Wang, a teacher at Plevna School, was recently named to the 2005 edition of “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers”.

The new wave in tractors is now being offered at Trendline Equipment in Baker. The Russian made Belarus tractors are a comparatively new tractor appearing for the first time about eight years ago. Chuck Abrams, owner of Trendline, is pictured with the tractor he has for sale. . . Toni O’Connor and Paige O’Connor, both of Plevna High School, achieved All-Conference honors and earned spots on the first team All-Tournament Basketball team. . . Plevna girls participating in co-op volleyball at Baker High School include Scotti Gray, Lacey O’Connor, Susan Domer, Melissa Meier, Trish O’Connor, Toni O’Connor, and Paige O’Connor.

30 YEARS AGO Thursday, January 16, 1986A small group of citizens went on record Tuesday night to say they are fed up with Go Go dancers in two Baker bars. The group, Gaye and Wayne Sander along with Karol and Steve Zachmann, read the city ordinances addressing profanity, nudity and gestures. They feel the law is being broken. .

Frank and Charlene Mehling celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary Dec. 8 at the Medicine Rocks Church fellowship hall. . . Prenatal classes will begin Jan. 17 and Joan Aaseng will be the instructor for this series of classes. . . Election judge Mary Lee Dietz announced that Curt Huether has filed for county assessor. All county offices, with the exception of the Clerk of Court, will be open for candidates. Delane Beach announced he will seek re-election along with Clerk and Recorder Mary Lee Dietz, Sheriff Leland Gundlach, and Treasurer Faye Koenig.

40 YEARS AGO Thursday, January 15, 1976New officers for the Baker Chamber of Commerce assumed their duties at the first meeting held at the Baker Hotel Thursday. Larry Neutgens, 1976 president, wa handed the gavel by past president Del Kenitzer. . . A snowmobile accident occurred Saturday west of Willard when Darrell Kramlick hit a snow drift with his machine, throwing him off and breaking his collarbone. He was taken to Fallon Memorial Hospital by Lonnie Rath where he received treatment. . . Jan. 7 the Masons of Sandstone Lodge No. 84 held open installation of officers. Vernon Wiseman was installed as Worshipful Master for the coming year. . .

Dick O’Connor had the misfortune of breaking his hip Tuesday night when he slipped on his driveway. This is the third time Dick has broken bones in the same leg and hip. . . Night snowmobiling can be dangerous and all precautions should be taken.

Roger Losing received face lacerations on his nose and eye area when he went through a barbed wire fence. Upon examination, it was felt he would lose his right eye. . . The Emmanuel Congregational Church of Plevna announces that Rev. William Wohlers of Big Timer has accepted the call as pastor and has begun his duties as the resident pastor. . . Letter to the Editor Dear Editor, I want people to recall the events of the last year. I want them to think about all the things that have happened around the world, just in the last year. I hope they will say, out loud, everyone has the right to life and no one has the right to take it from them.

Saint Pope John Paul II said, “Proclaim and give witness to the Gospel of life!” That will require courage and strength.

There are people already speaking doom and gloom about 2016. If as a nation we would gather all of our courage and strength, each day, and “proclaim and give witness to the Gospel of life” it couldn’t be a year filled with doom and gloom. I ask that we resolve to be the nation we were formed to be in this new year.

January 22 is the tragic anniversary of a shameful event in our country’s history and a time to reflect, throughout that day, on respect for the human person. “What is at stake is the dignity of the human person whose defense and promotion have been entrusted to us by the Creator, and to whom the men and women at every moment of history are strictly and responsibly in debt.” Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Every person in the nation, either born here or arrived here by whatever means, expects from the United States of America, dignity of the human person. They expect to receive the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness contained in our country’s Declaration of Independence. Considering, not just what has transpired in this last year but in the last several years, it would seem like a good time for all of us to read or re-read all of the Declaration of Independence. I hope you feel the need to do something tangible to change the direction we have been going in, as a nation, for the last 43 years. Elsie Huether Elsie Louise Schuetzle Huether was born on a ranch near Plevna, Feb. 16, 1918.

She died Jan. 2, 2016 at St. Luke’s Nursing Home in Dickinson at the age of 97. In 1937, she was married to Rueben Huether and became a farm wife near Regent, N.D. They lived on this farmstead until 1953, working hard to develop it into a good living for themselves and their three children who were born during that time. Along with all the farm duties and raising children, Elsie served as a substitute teacher, was a 4-H leader and active in community organizations and the Zoar Congregational Church in Mott, N.D. At one time she even became a lady barrel racer in the Regent rodeo.

Elsie and her family moved to Dickinson in 1953. In Dickinson she was able to pursue her interests in sewing, crafts, art, stained glass, and gardening. She was active in leadership roles in the Dickinson Methodist Church and later the Dickinson Congregational Church. In the late 1960s, she served as a North Dakota Democratic delegate to Washington, D.C., and then as a delegate and state chairperson at the 1968 National Democratic Convention. She took leadership roles in the Badlands Art Club. She was a charter member of the Germans from Russia Heritage Society and served on its first board of directors. She helped develop and maintain the Stone House German historical museum in Dickinson. Elsie helped run several family businesses.

Elsie and Rueben traveled to many foreign countries and throughout the United States.

During several of these travels, Elsie did research on a family ancestry book she authored.

In the course of her extensive genealogy research, she met many relatives.

Her husband, Rueben, and son, David, preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Darleen (Don) Hjelmseth of Missoula and Bonita (John) Paulson of Valley City, N.D.; one daughterin-law, Mary Conlin Huether, of Independence, Ore.; seven grandchildren: Jacqueline Hjelmseth (Scott) Fennell, Fort Thomas, Ky; Jana Hjelmseth (Richard) Baker, Denver, Colo.; Jon (Liz) Hjelmseth, Bellingham, Wash.; Ami Paulson (Tony) Peruzzo, Mound, Minn.; Kris (Shannon) Paulson, Grand Forks, N.D.; Tara Huether (Fred) Roberts, Seattle,Wash.; Jasmine Huether, Portland, Ore.; eleven greatgrandchildren: Madeline and Graham Baker, Daniel, Anna and Lily Fennel, Leigh Hjelmseth, David and Kadin Cole, Frederick and Liliana Roberts, and Aria Peruzzo; one brother, Rueben (Beverly) Schuetzle, Green Valley, Ariz.; and one sister, Helen (Ruben) Oberlander, Miles City, Mont.; numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial celebration of Elsie’s life will be announced at a later date.

Rotarians give dictionaries to third grade students A Montana Rotary goal is to place a dictionary in the hand of every third grade student in Montana. This is the ninth consecutive year that District 5390 has sponsored this project.

Members of the Rotary Clubs of Glendive, Malta and Miles City are participating again this year in the distribution of dictionaries, by giving a dictionary to every third grade student throughout the counties of eastern Montana. “A Student’s Dictionary” is a dictionary and partial encyclopedia including the biographies of the United States Presidents and information about the countries of the world.

This is a unique opportunity for a Rotary Club to share their commitment to education

by giving a timeless reference tool to enhance student learning. They are proud to join 2,000 fellow Montana Rotarians by assuring their communities’ students benefit from Rotarians generosity.

Montana Rotary Clubs are located in communities from Libby in the northwest to Billings and Glendive in the southeast and from Hamilton in the southwest to Malta in the northeast. By Sherry Vogel As sub-freezing temperatures set in across Montana, the possibility of frostbite becomes a reality. Frostbite is the formation of ice crystals in skin and blood vessels leading to tissue injury or tissue death, depending on temperature and length of exposure.

Exposed areas such as ears, cheeks, nose, fingers and toes are usually affected.

During exposure: Tingling, redness followed by paleness, numbness and hardness will occur.

Upon re-warming: Pain, tingling or burning (sometimes severe) with color changes from white to red, then purple.

Other symptoms: Blisters (sometimes severe), shivering, slurred speech, and memory loss.

Medical care is mandatory.

The following tips apply to emergency care until medical care is available.

• Upon reaching shelter, remove clothing from the frostbitten parts.

• Never massage damaged tissue.

• Immerse the affected parts in warm water (about 100° F or 37.8 C). Use a thermometer, if available. Higher temperatures may cause further damage.

• Drink warm fluids with a high sugar content.

• Don’t smoke.

• After re-warming, cover affected areas with soft cloth bandages.

• Don’t use affected limbs until you have medical attention. If feet are involved, don’t walk.

The best tip is: Use prevention.

• Anticipate sudden temperature changes and wear warm clothing - several layers of sweaters or coats, gloves, socks, hats and a knit mask or scarf across your face.

• Don’t drink or smoke prior to anticipated exposure.

Enjoy the winter, but plan ahead.

The Lady Spartans traveled to Wolf Point to face the undefeated Lady Wolves January 9. They played a tough game, but things just did not go in the Spartans’ favor that night. The Lady Wolves outscored the Spartans in the first quarter 4-18. In the second quarter, it was close with shooting, but the Lady Spartans outscored the Wolves 1312.

Plevna school present The Jungle Book January 9, Plevna students presented “The Jungle Book”, a story about a man-cub abandoned in the jungle, adopted by wolves, taught by a bear, befriended by a panther and chased by a tiger. Original music and rollicking humor give new life to the classic tale by Rudyard Kipling. Missoula Children’s Theatre representatives, Jessie Selleck and Katrina Sebastian, spent the week with students helping them rehearse their roles.

The students auditioned Jan. 4 and 5 and then through much hard work and practice presented the play Jan. 9 accompanied

on the piano by Missy Thielen.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre International Tour has fostered developmental life skills in more than a million kids during its 40 year existence. Each year, representatives work with 65,000 children in more than 1,200 communities in all 50 states and 17 countries. Plevna’s students enjoyed their experience acting in this play and look forward to next year’s production.

Students completed interactive workshops

By Nicole Allerdings During the first week back from Christmas vacation, the Missoula Children’s Theatre visited Plevna School. In addition to organizing a play featuring the students, representatives, Katrina Sebastian and Jessie Selleck, provided workshops for all the students.

January 5, third through sixth grade students completed an interactive workshop with Katrina and Jessie.

They learned about an important question: “Why do we ask why?” The presenters explained to the students the importance of questioning the world around them and using their minds to solve problems.

They emphasized that the creative process is made up of imagination plus exploration.

Using these ideas, the students practiced using their bodies to form several objects such as a toaster, roller coaster, and a computer.

January 6, the kindergarten through second grade students visited with Katrina and Jessie and learned about what it takes to put on a performance. The students answered questions about the difference between a play and a musical.

Katrina and Jessie taught them a song about a red velvet hat with feathers on the side.

First the students learned the lyrics, then the melody, and finally added some choreogra-

phy to the song.

January 7, the seventh through twelfth grade students learned about oral interpretation. They practiced warming up their voices before presenting. They learned about using their voice to speak clearly to the audience.

They completed an exercise involving emotion and heart by saying a line with increasing levels of emotion. Then the students were divided into groups and presented an oral interpretation called, “Where the Wild Things Are”. Each of these workshops allowed students to express their creativity while learning more about performing.

Katrina and Jessie lead the kindergarten through second grade students in marching while singing a song.

Time to resolve depression You may be depressed and not even know it.

By Sherry Vogel As the winter months unfold, many Montanans experience some form of depression ranging from feelings of “being blue” and “down in the dumps” to more severe extremes that literally cause them to not function without the aid of medications.

In fact, over 19 million Americans experience some form of depression every day.

That is ten percent of our population at any given time in a one year period.

In addition, most people affected by depression don’t seek the help of a health care professional. Actually only about one third of those who are depressed receive treatment. This is unfortunate because 60-80 percent of all people affected with depression can be effectively treated with brief structural forms of psychotherapy and anti-depressant medications, resulting in 80-90 percent of them feeling better within four to eight weeks.

Many people fail to seek medical treatment because

they fear the stigma associated with the diagnosis. This is unfortunate as depression is a disease and like diabetes, high blood pressure or any other medical condition, it can be treated. Surprisingly, others do not seek treatment because many have no idea they are depressed.

Following is a list of typical symptoms of depression.

• Sadness, irritability or excessive crying • Sleeping problems: Insomnia, oversleeping or early awakening • Failure to make decisions, concentrate or remembering • Feelings of worthlessness or guilt • Fatigue or decrease in activity • Changes in appetite and weight loss or gain • Chronic aches and pains • Physical problems that don’t respond to treatment • Disinterest in things that used to be enjoyable • Slowed down feelings Since there are times when any of these symptoms may apply to any person, how does one know if this means they are actually depressed? Usu-

ally, if you have any one of these symptoms continually for two weeks you may be clinically depressed.

What does clinical depression mean? It is more than just the “blues” or being “down in the dumps” or experiencing temporary feelings of sadness that we all have from time to time. It is a serious condition that affects a person’s mind and body. It impacts all aspects of everyday life including eating, sleeping, working, relationships, and how a person views himself/herself.

People who are clinically depressed cannot simply “will themselves to feel better” or just “snap out of it”. If they do not receive appropriate care, they suffer needlessly and miss out on some of the most wonderful moments in life.

There are reasons for these issues and ways to resolve them. Anyone who may be experiencing signs and symptoms of depression are encouraged to consult with a health care professional, as help is just a phone call away.

Live life the way you have always wanted to live. Now is the time to take action.

The usual symptoms of gastroenteritis include diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and stomach pain. There is no specific treatment for this illness and most individuals recover in one to three days. The illness can last longer and be more severe in young children, older people, or people who have other chronic health conditions. The virus is highly contagious and can spread rapidly.

DPHHS is reminding individuals to stay home when ill and not risk exposing other people. “It’s a simple and effective method to keep infectious diseases from spreading: Stay home when you are ill, “ says epidemiologist Dana Fejes. Norovirus is the most common cause of gastroenteritis in Montana and the US. In the last three years in Montana, nearly 3,000 people have been sickened during norovirus outbreaks. This is 12 times as many people who became ill as a result of other gastroenteritis outbreaks.

A person can become ill by ingesting the virus from contaminated food or water or by close contact with someone who is ill. Touching surfaces or objects that are contaminated with norovirus, and then transferring the virus hand to mouth is another common way of becoming infected.

Public health officials advise following simple tips to prevent the spread of norovirus and many other infectious illnesses:

• Practice proper hand hygiene - wash your hands carefully with soap and water, especially after using the bathroom or changing diapers and always before eating or preparing food. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers can be used in addition to hand washing, but they should not be used as a substitute for washing with soap and water.

• Take care in the kitchen carefully wash fruits and vegetables, and cook oysters and other shellfish thoroughly before eating them.

• Do not prepare food while ill - people who are infected with norovirus should not prepare food for others while they have symptoms and for three days after they recover from their illness.

• Clean and disinfect contaminated surfaces - after an episode of illness, such as vomiting or diarrhea, immediately clean and disinfect contaminated surfaces by using a bleach-based household cleaner as directed on the product label or a solution made by adding 5-25 tablespoons of household bleach to one gallon of water.

• Wash laundry thoroughly immediately remove clothing or linens that may be contaminated and wash with detergent at the maximum length available cycle, then machine dry. Handle soiled items carefully - without agitating them - to avoid spreading the virus.

September 11 -- Mary Lee Dietz was honored Sept. 8 for over 39 years of dedicated volunteer service on the Fallon County Planning Board. . .

She is from Plevna and has taught in the Plevna School District for the past 16 years. . . High temperature Sept. 2 was 100 degrees. . . Punt, Pass & Kick competition was held Aug. 30. There were 19 competitors ranging in age from 6-15. Winners were: Caden Barth, Gentre Coulter, Hawken Custer, Jory Miller, Riley Schultz, Emmalyn Miller and Keely HeatonCuster. . . Baker Spartan football team defeated the Wolf Point Wolves Sept. 4, 36-6. . . An all-class reunion cruise to Alaska is scheduled for July 25 through July 2, 2016.

September 18 -- The annual Fall Festival sponsored by the Baker Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture was held Sept. 12. There were several vendors, Funflatables for the children, and a Rubber Duck Race was held on a makeshift river on the patio of the Baker Club. Grand finale winners were Andy Hepperle, Mary Mangold and Allan Barth.

The second annual Rib CookOff was also held in conjunction with the Fall Festival. A Chili Cook-Off and Stew Cook-Off was also held. Live music was held in the evening

by Orion and Stacey Potter from South Dakota. The Chili Cook-Off Best Display and People’s Choice winner was the Bloody Mary Ghouls.

September 25 -- A new priest is settling in at St. John’s Catholic Church in Baker. Father Phillip is from India and came here after serving a year in Miles City.

He is replacing Father Thomas Tobin who has served here for 38 years. Father Phillip first came to the United States to the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings in July 2014. . . The first ever World Fast Draw Association competition was held in Baker Sept. 19-20. About 30 experienced shooters from across the US and Canada were involved in the competition. . .

Drivers in Montana will soon have an 80 mph speed limit on most interstate highways across the state. The speed limit will stay at 70 mph during the daytime and 65 mph during the nighttime on twolane highways. . . A total lunar eclipse will occur Sept.

27 and will coincide with a “supermoon”. . . Drivers on Highway 7 South can expect minor delays as reconstruction activities begin 12.3 miles south of Baker to 20.2 miles south of Baker.

October 2 -- 2015 homecoming candidates are Jordan Baxter, Joseph Fisher, Matt Packer, Austin Braun, Taylor Miller, Taylor Stinnett, Morgan Miller and Taylyn Koenig. Homecoming week activities start Oct. 5. The Baker Spartans will host Poplar Friday evening, and the Lady Spartan volleyball team will host Lodge Grass

Lions Club Bingo

Every other Sunday starting Jan. 10 through May 15, from 2-4 p.m., the Baker Lions Club will sponsor bingo games at the Baker Senior Center.

Although the bingo game is held at the Senior Center building, it is not just for sen-

ior citizens. The 22 players playing last Sunday afternoon ranged from age 7 to 92. Hard of hearing? No problem. Numbers light up on a display board.

Come out for affordable family fun while supporting a worthy cause. Half of all

proceeds are awarded, in scholarships, to two graduating high school seniors. One graduate will be chosen from Baker High School and the other from Plevna High School.

October 9 -- Baker High School homecoming coronation, “Super Hero Spartans”, was held Oct. 5. Morgan Miller and Matt Packer were crowned 2015 homecoming queen and king. Crownbearers were Canden Coulter and Bree Lynn Straub. . . Kylan Klauzer, formerly of Baker, was recently inducted into the Dickinson State University

Athletic Hall of Fame for his outstanding achievement as a student athlete. . . Mid-September, the US Air Force began limited military flying operations in the expanded Powder River Training Complex over the Dakotas, Wyoming, and Montana, including most of Fallon County. . . National 4-H Week was observed Oct. 4-10. Winner of the window display was the Fertile Prairie 4-H Club and their display was in the window of N’ Styl. . .

Baker Rural Fire Department responded to seven calls during the month of September. . . The Fallon County Times and KFLN Radio were this year’s recipients of the Friend of 4-H Awards for their promotion of the Fallon County 4-H program.

October 16 -- Sports Boosters sponsored the first ever “Colorpalooza” race as a fundraiser in conjunction with BHS homecoming week. At the end of the race, participants, 211 of them, were rewarded with a packet of colored pixie dust. When the

signal was given, it was tossed into the air “sparkling” all those within range. . . Fallon County recently hired Forrest Sanderson, a municipal planner with the engineering firm KLJ, as a contract planner. . . Fallon County Times welcomes Sherry (Phebus) Vogel as the new staff writer and general assignment reporter. . High temperature Oct. 10 was 86 degrees. . .

28. Postmaster Kevin Kleppelid showed them how to cancel a stamp and separate mail. . . Tenth annual Breast Cancer Awareness Soup and Salad Luncheon was held Oct. 8. Approximately $7,000 was raised to be donated to the Friends of FMC Foundation. . . Fourth annual Lucas Meschke Broken Club Memorial Golf Scramble has 128 golfers. Proceeds from this event are used for scholarships to youth in Fallon County.
