stockin’”. The events include freestyle motocross action, professional rodeos, several nights of world class music, midway amusement fun, free stage entertainment, and demolition derby. Headlining the entertainment will be the clas-
sic rock group, Loverboy, Saturday evening with Jagertown following on the patio. Traditional fair activities will include 4H/FFA exhibits and livestock events, open class exhibits, and a parade. Numerous vendors and food booths will be on site throughout the weekend.

Fallon County Fair Parade A good old-fashioned parade will wind its way through downtown Baker featuring floats, horses, cars and more Saturday, Aug. 22, starting at 11 a.m. The “Ridin’, Rockin’ and Livestockin’” themed parade will follow the traditional route starting at Rolling Rubber on Montana Avenue, turning north on East First Street, west to Main Street, and down Main Street to the four-way stop, then west and south ending at Fallon Medical Complex.

Livestock judging kicks off the Fallon County Fair Livestock judging - a staple for most county fairs - features animals presented by exhibitors in competition for titles and premiums. Fair-goers interested in livestock judging can begin the fair weekend with Open Class and 4-H horse judging in the outdoor arena starting at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19. Open class llama and alpaca judging follows at 11:00 a.m., and goat trail judging 1:00 p.m. The cat and dog shows are, respectively, at 2:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. More livestock judging continues on Thursday, Aug. 20, starting at 7:30 a.m. and all day Friday, Aug. 21, starting at 8:00 a.m. concluding with the 4-H/FFA Market Beef show at 5:00 p.m.

Demolition Derby ends fair with a bang Get your seats early because the stands will be packed again for the Baker Wrestling Club Demolition Derby. The crowd-drawing event will be Sunday, Aug. 23, at 6 p.m. with general admission tickets $7.00, 6 and under free. The derby follows Big Sky Demolition Derby Association rules. In addition to the main heats, there will be a grudge heat, truck heat, and the finale. The truck heat will follow truck derby rules with a winner take all payout. Total prize money will be $5,000 paid for first through fourth place in the finale. The trophy is sponsored by Baker Metal and Recycling. The crowd will not only have the excitement of the derby to watch, but can participate in the popular 50/50 drawing and driver calcutta before the finale. 4-H/FFA Livestock Sale

The annual 4-H/FFA Livestock Sale will take place Saturday, Aug. 22, after the rodeo at approximately 4:30 p.m. Potential buyers who are interested in purchasing an animal have two options. A buyer may purchase an animal outright by paying the total cost and taking possession of it or pay only the amount bid above the current market price. The market value will be based on local markets and will be announced before the sale. The Grand Champion and Reserve Champion Market Beef animals will not be eligible for premium bids. Buy numbers will be used for the first time this year. Buyers should be sure to register and pick up a number Saturday, Aug. 22. before the sale in the Livestock Barn. If possible, people should attend the sale in person. If anyone is unable to make the sale and would like someone to bid for them, they should call 406-778-7110. The livestock sale committee will be happy to work with the public on any purchases. This year’s market sale includes 22 beef, 14 swine, 11 sheep, 15 goats, and 8 rabbits. There will be no poultry, market or breeding, at the fair this year due to the outbreak of High Path Avian Influenza (HPAI).

PRCA rodeos promise more than eight seconds of excitement The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) sanctioned rodeos for the 2015 Fallon County Fair will feature more cowboys and action than ever before with rough stock being furnished by the Mosbrucker Rodeo Company from Mandan, ND. Arena rodeo action will be Saturday, Aug. 22, and Sunday, Aug. 23, starting at 1:00 p.m. both days. The rodeos will include all PRCA sanctioned events: bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, and bull riding. Special events will include Mutton Busting both days and Calf Dressing and Junior Barrels added to Sunday’s rodeo. Youth ages 5-9 years old can participate in the Mutton Busting events. Each contest is limited to the first 12 contestants. Youth are required to have a helmet, long sleeves, jeans, close toed shoes, and must be within the 80 pound weight limit. Youth in age categories up to 6, 7-11, 12-15, and 16-18 can participate in the Junior Barrels event. Parents must sign for a child to compete in each of these events. Visit the Fallon County Fairgrounds office for the necessary paperwork. Bring the whole family to this showcase of pro rodeo skills. General admission for each rodeo is $15; ages 7-17, $10; ages 6 and under, free. PRCA and WPRA Rodeo Slack will be Friday, Aug. 21, at 8 a.m. General admission tickets are $5, 6 and under free.
Livestock Trailer Show The Open Livestock Trailer Show will be held Saturday, Aug. 22. Entry deadline for sheep is 9:45 a.m. with a $7.00 entry fee and show at 10:00 a.m. Entry deadline for beef is 10:15 a.m. with a $20.00 entry fee and show at 10:30 a.m. All livestock health requirements must be met. All classes will be jackpotted and paid up to ten places. Sheep prizes are: $100 Grand Market Lamb, $50 Reserve, and $50 Grand Ram and Ewe, $25 Reserve. Three nights of rockin’ entertainment Renowned for presenting stellar live performances, the Fallon County Fair is doing it again and fair-goers will have the opportunity to rock late into the night with some amazing bands. “There’s a party going on in Jagertown … sums up everything you want to say about this band coming to the fair. Jagertown is a high-energy, country-rock band with a new perspective on what country could be. This invigorating band explores the country genre while incorporating innovative rock elements. Jagertown is a mix of Eric Church and Chris LeDoux with a Lynyrd Skynyrd twist. They have traveled and performed with many major headliners and headlined many large festivals, concerts and county fairs. Members of the band include frontman Preston Creed, bass player Jesse Brooks, violinist Liz Anderson, guitarist Troy Haun, and drummer Demetri Mannos. The band arrived on the scene in 2006 with their self-titled album followed by “Love On the Radio” and their recent release “Sleepin’ With My Boots On”. They approach every event with the goal of entertaining the audience. Jagertown will be rockin’ country music in place of the Copper Mountain Band on the Patio after the motocross event Thursday, Aug. 20; after Two Way Crossing Friday, Aug. 21; and after Loverboy Saturday, Aug. 22, up to 1 a.m. every night for free. Two Way Crossing, a pop-country duo and their band, will heat up the stage Friday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m. Blake and Jenny Marvin are the married duo behind the vocals. Their recent single “Car Trouble” has been getting extensive recognition in the industry. Two Way Crossing originally began as a simple duo. Jenny and Blake recorded their debut album in Nashville. Shortly after, they decided to make the move to the city to find their backing band and further pursue their music career. Within a few months they auditioned some of Nashville’s best musicians, including Kevin Smith (guitar) and Jaron Mossman (drums and percussion), to perform with them during their 2014 summer tour.

With the addition of Clint Reynolds (bass) and Benjamin Picker (keys, guitar, backing vocals) in 2015, Two Way Crossing evolved into a band. After acquiring a regular spot at Nashville’s world-famous Wildhorse Saloon, Two Way Crossing has been getting recognition everywhere from Music Row Magazine to radio stations across the United States. According to the band’s website, the group is continually pushing the boundaries on what a traditional country song should sound like and yet want to keep what they love about country music in everything they do. Canadian rock band Loverboy entered the music scene in 1980 with their self-titled debut album. They rapidly became one of America’s most popular rock bands, selling more than ten million albums throughout their musical career. Loverboy accumulated four multi-platinum albums and numerous international gold al-
bums from 1980 to 1987. Their tours sold out arenas and stadiums nationwide. Their hit singles include “Working for the Weekend”, “Lovin’ Every Minute Of It”, “This Could Be The Night”, “Hot Girls in Love”, “Heaven In Your Eyes”, “Turn Me Loose”, “When It’s Over”, and “Queen of the Broken Hearts”. They released their newest album “Unfinished Business” last year. Loverboy also played on mega tours with Journey, Bob Seger, Cheap Trick, ZZ Top, Kansas and Def Leppard, and was one of the first bands ever featured on the MTV music channel. Loverboy still includes original members Mike Reno vocals, Paul Dean on guitars, Doug Johnson on keyboards, and Matt Frenette on drums, with Ken “Spider” Sinnaeve (a former member of Dean and Frenette’s pre-Loverboy band Streetheart), who replaced the late Scott Smith on bass. Cowboy Church Sunday morning Several area churches will be working together to bring the Cowboy Church service to community members and fair-goers Sunday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m. at the fair grandstands. Pastor Mike Davis of the Lakeview Baptist Church in Baker will deliver the message and the Assembly of God Church will lead the music. All local churches are welcome and encouraged to attend.

This Year’s Sale Offering:
To sell an animal at the fair, 4-H and FFA members must complete a Livestock Quality Assurance training a minimum of every other year. LQA teaches record keeping, food safety and proper techniques of handling animals. This insures a safe, high quality product for the buyers, not only at the Fallon County Fair, but also at the supermarket.

• Buyer Participation • If possible, you will want to attend the sale in person. You, as a potential buyer, have two options when purchasing an animal. First, you may purchase the animal outright, in which case, you will pay the total cost of the animal and take possession. Your second option is to pay only the amount bid above the current market price. In this case the animal will go to the entity establishing the base price. The market value will be based on local markets and will be announced before the sale so everyone will be aware of it. Sale committee members and ringmen will be on hand to assist you with your purchase. All animals will sell to the highest bidder. You may bid to the ringman or the auctioneer. If you can’t be at the sale, but would like to contribute to the program, the livestock sale committee would be happy to work with you on any purchases. NEW: This year we will be using Buyer Numbers. Please, be sure to register and pick up your number on Saturday before the Sale in the Livestock Barn.
