County adds new road boss

Small Fair makes a big SPLASH

Staff Report Dunn County may be small in population compared to other North Dakota counties, but made a big splash over the weekend with two nights of rodeos in the new Killdeer Rodeo Arena, softball tournaments, 5-kilometer fun runs, free concerts, a Fish Fry, free meals and even a chance to dunk the county sheriff. But one of the most popular events was the annual Mud Volleyball tournament when keeping the games going in the mud sometimes seemed more important than the score. Even during the clean up at the old rodeo arena location next to the High Plains Community Center, the muddy participants made the event fun as they used a fire house to clean the mud off themselves and the equipment.

Historical Society hopes for a very canny response

Whether dunking Dunn County Sheriff Gary Kuhn (top photo), trying to get mud out of the eyes during the mud volleyball tournament (above) or seeing cowboys at a rodeo at sunset, there was a lot going on during the fair. HERALD/Brad Mosher
