School starting with big crowds
Staff Report School is back. And in Killdeer, that means the crowds are also. Killdeer started classes Aug. 21. While the Killdeer School District is still trying to lock down a site for a new campus, there is one thing for certain, the current school is running out of room for them. Like a slow-rolling tsunami of students, Killdeer District Superintendent Gary Wilz has been working towards alleviating the crowding with a new campus. However, he and the district have hit a snag. They haven’t been able to secure a new parcel of land for a new campus. The enrollemnt through the sixth grade is now more than 400 students.

A Hard Ride in Killdeer
For two nights, bullriding was the center of attention in Killdeer. Or at least the new Killdeer Rodeo Arena west of the city. The Mann Energy-sponsored PBR stop in Killdeer ended with Kansan Skeeter Kingsolver of McLouth winning. Albert Lebaron was second, with Kache Moosman of Price Utah placing third in the competition.
The hard part was staying on the bull during the PBR event in Killdeer over the weekend. Herald photos / Brad Mosher
Attorney Ross L. Sundeen, past president of the North Dakota Association for Justice, has been honored by his government colleagues and elected president of the North Dakota States Attorney’s Association (NDSAA). NDSAA provides North Dakota prosecutors with continROSS SUNDEEN ued education and training, and unifies the voice of prosecutors on local, state and national legal policy. Sundeen said he’d earned the respect of his peers and adversaries for his commonsense approach to public service by being fair handed and truthful in pursuit of justice. “A true call to public service is to work for the common good,” says Sundeen. “If you want to be good a public servant, you need to effectively apply seven core values: responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability; respect; leadership and human rights.”
