Sewer break forces restrictions on sewer use for portion of city By Bryce Martin
Pioneer Editor bmartin@countrymedia.net A portion of the city of Bowman is back in the all-too-familiar “red zone” as of June 12 after a major sewer break occurred south of the Bowman City Park. Homes and businesses in the “red zone”—an area from Highway 85 west through Eighth Av-

Residents in the zone were asked to refrain from flushing toilets, washing clothing, using a dishwasher and anything else that would require sewer use. The restriction came at a busy time for the city as the North Dakota High School Rodeo Finals were held in Bowman from Fri-
day to Sunday. According to the "red zone" map, however, the fairgrounds and local motels remained unaffected. Bill Mason, city water and sewer supervisor, was at the scene of the break the morning of June 12 and told the Pioneer that it was similar to November’s break, and only one block from that same location. Cameras navigating through the city’s sewer lines to locate potential disruptions hit an area of muddy water in that area of the line several weeks ago, according to Mason. As the city prepared to clean out the site, it
began to back up. A break was soon after discovered. “It’ll be a mess,” Mason said of the sewer line’s fix. While there is no definite timeline for repair, Mason said crews began working to pump

Antique car’s Marmarth origin shrouded in mystery By Bryce Martin
Pioneer Editor bmartin@countrymedia.net A little, red roadster provided a glimpse into Marmarth’s history for a California man late last year. But its story is somewhat convoluted. Tony Colombini is an avid fan of both history and cars. His job as director of Blacktop Media Network gives him the opportunity to meld his two passions. He also runs Blacktop Depot Vintage Auto and Cycle Memorabilia in Orange County, Calif., which had its grand opening Wednesday. So when he randomly came across a small, rouge-colored roadster that looked as if it had just driven out of an old, black-and-white TV show, his interest was piqued. “At first we thought it was a prop car for the movie industry. ...
