SPOILERS AHEAD: If you haven’t read the book or seen the film, “The Revenant,” and you plan to do so, stop reading now to avoid spoilers. “Whatever the details, it was a marvelous show of stamina and courage.” That’s the final sentence of a monument that pays tribute to Hugh Glass, a frontiersman that legend claimed had “returned from the dead” after a grisly bear attack. The memorial stands innocuously atop a random hill overlooking the Shadehill Reservoir, just south of Lemmon, S.D. The story of Glass, who was portrayed onscreen by Oscar nominee Leonardo DiCaprio, is the basis for the recent film, “The Revenant.” Accounts handed down through history place Glass’s legendary bear attack near Shadehill, but one local historian provided an interesting theory that he was actually left for dead right in Bowman County.

In the past, the Great Plains Food Bank have partnered with local county food pantries to disperse food, however, the state food bank wanted to do a little more outreach in 2016. “We’re going there this year to help, we know we can’t solve hunger with out efforts and community awareness,” Monge said. “So

No, the Bowman Park Board isn’t turning into Big Brother with the recent addition of security cameras in park facilities. Rather, the board’s objective is to promote safety for residents and deter vandalism. Cameras can now be found throughout the Rouzie Pool and Recreation Complex, Bowman City Park, the ballparks to the northwest of the city and Butte View Campground on Highway 12. Bowman Parks and Rec Director Chanell Walby said many people were surprised to learn that the city’s parks and recreation facilities didn’t already have cameras. She
