Woman found dead in area motel

By Bryce Martin

Pioneer Editor bmartin@countrymedia.net The body of a 30-year-old woman was discovered inside a local motel room just two days before Christmas, according to a report from the Bowman Police Department. Bowman officers responded to a call at around 12:50 p.m. Dec. 23 from Northwinds Lodge in Bowman. A staff member at the motel made a call to police and reported that an adult female was unresponsive and not breathing inside Room 28 at the lodge. Police identified the woman as Jezebel Hosteen of Pinedale, N.M. She was pronounced dead by emergency responders when they arrived at the scene. Hosteen was said to have died during her sleep. A motel staff member found Hosteen’s body after they checked her room after the daily checkout time. Three children, ages 4, 1 and 3 months, surrounded Hosteen and were later identified as her children. The children were subsequently placed in the care of Bowman/Slope County Social Services until Hosteen’s family member from New Mexico could pick them up. The Bowman Police Department, Bowman County Sheriff’s Office and Bowman Ambulance responded to the scene. The cause of death was not readily apparent to police, though Bowman Police Chief Chuck Headley said he does not suspect there was foul play. Toxicology reports for Hosteen were requested and are currently being processed. The matter is still under investigation by the Bowman Police Department.

Perkins gives holiday performance for troops in Middle East By Bryce Martin

Pioneer Editor bmartin@countrymedia.net The holiday season gave another opportunity for Kat Perkins to give back. The Scranton-born rocker paid a special visit to military installations in the war-torn Middle East last month to dazzle members of the U.S. Armed Forces with her musical prowess. “Having the opportunity to bring even a small taste of home, especially during the holidays, to our men and women serving overseas is something I’m so thankful for,” Perkins said. “To be able to combine doing what I love, and doing something for oth-

ers is hard to top.” Perkins spent about a week touring undisclosed locations in the Middle East. The arrangements were made possible through her agent’s company, Trovata Entertainment, which helps various military bases bring in entertainment throughout the year. Perkins had a woman from North Dakota whose son served on one of the military bases she was scheduled to visit reach out to her prior to the trip. Perkins got to surprise him by calling him onto the stage during her performance and giving him a special message from his mother. “It was a moment that I’ll never forget,” she said.
