Scranton flies donated flag Food bank

r. Karyn Chiapella has been on a mission since 2001.

She was teaching at a school in Michigan when terrorists attacked the Twin Towers.

Shortly after the attack she became part of a program called “Any Soldier” which adopts soldiers overseas and sends them care packages.

“Since I have been in Scranton for eight years now, we have continued to do that. This past Christmas, we had four units that we adopted. One of the units is based in Afghanistan and they sent us a thank you letter we just received last week with pictures of them holding the things we sent them and a flag.

“They flew the American flag over their base in honor of our students and mailed it to us as a gift us,” Dr. Chiapella explained.

The flag was raised over the Scranton campus Tuesday morning, the day after Presidents’ Day. “We flew that flag on our flagpole to honor them, took pictures of it and are going to sent it (pictures) back to the soldiers. We will have the flag, the letters and pictures framed to put on display in the hallways at the school here.”

The unit is with the Air Force currently based in Afghanistan, Dr. Chiapella said. “Our soldier’s name is Marcelino Ruiz.

“The unit we got was because of Col. Tyler Schaas. He went to school here with our elementary principal.

He is our go-to guy every year and he gives us names of his units overseas,” she explained.

“We send what they need and the community is part of it. We send boxes, care packages with socks, gloves,

protein bars – everything they request and need to help them through their time there,” she explained. “Primarily,

he Great Plains Food Bank is stopping by Southwestern North Dakota this week, weather permitting.

According to Rachel Monge, the regional service manager, the food bank stops in Hettinger and Bowman Thursday, then heads to Amidon Friday morning.

It is a trip which was postponed earlier because of weather.

“We will be there on the 20th and 21st of February,” Monge said. “We went for years without rescheduling anything and now for the last couple of years we have definitely had to do that a couple of times.

The stop in Bowman was scheduled for 3:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Thursday at the fairgounds, Monge said.

“That will be the last stop of the evening, right in front of their buildings. We will take up most of the front area of it at both entrances.”

The food will available with a drive-thru distribution, she added. “There are no requirements.

You don’t have to sign up beforehand. We welcome anyone in need of food assistance.

“We will be lining everybody up. The food will be unloaded and each car will come through the line.

All clients will stay in their vehicles and we will load their cars depending on their household size.”

Presidents’ Day honors more than one

STAFF REPORT Presidents’ Day started first in 1885, when the first American president had his birthday on February 22 made into a federal holiday.

It was the first time that an American citizen was celebrated with a federal holiday.

At that time, the only federal holidays were Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, along with the Fourth of July.

But the time the country celebrated George Washington’s birthday eventually changed in the late 1960s. At that time, Abraham Lincoln’s birthday (Feb. 12) had been added to the list of holidays, but not all states observed it.

Congress proposed a plan called the Uniform Monday Holiday Act to guarantee the holidays would be observed on Mondays.

The proposal would combine the two presidents with a Monday holiday that would stay on the third Monday in February.

The proposal was passed by Congress in 1968 and took effect when President Richard Nixon

signed an executive order in 1971.

Over the years, the holiday would become known as Presidents’ Day. It also has expanded to encompass all of the American chief executives.

Because it is a federal holiday, many banks, schools and government agencies are closed.

After Washington’s death in 1799, his birthday became a Day

of Remembrance as early as February in 1800.

In the years after his death, recognition would continue in 1832 with the centennial of his birth and also the beginning of construction of the Washington monument in 1848.

Now, the holiday is used to honor all the past and present presidents.

The Bowman Area Chamber of Commerce is announcing the first ever Chamber Choice Awards Adapted from the Star Awards that once took place at the Annual Chamber Christmas Party, the Chamber will continue to recognize the outstanding businesses and volunteers in our community.

This year, nominations will open for Business of the Year and Volunteer of the Year. The Chamber is asking that you, our community,

nominate a business or volunteer who went above and beyond in 2019.

Winners will receive a prize package valued up to $250. Tailored to the winner, the package could include a meal for the winner and their business, bonus bucks, and more.

Winners will also receive a commemorative award and a promotional video high-

lighting their achievements that will be posted on social media.

Spicer Family Murders

by Merry Helm February 17, 2020 — One of the state’s most heinous crimes took place in Emmons County on this date in 1897. In 1959, William Fischer, editor of the Emmons County Record, explained: “When North Dakota became a state, its constitution outlawed the saloon, but many saloon operators continued their ‘underground’ operation – and their places of business were known as ‘blind pigs’.�

It was reported that on February 14, 1897, Frank Blackhawk and Alec Coudot (also written Alex Coudotte) tried to get alcohol from a blind pig in Winona, across the river from Ft. Yates, but the proprietor told them a Mr. Pepper, the town drayman, had moved his stock and hidden it for him.

That night, the two men went to Pepper’s home and

asked where the liquor was hidden.

Fischer writes, “It is believed that Pepper told them it was stored in the cellar of the Spicer home.

It is further believed that this place was pointed out to them as a joke, because Spicer was known to be a religious man, who, although he was not an ordained minister, sometimes preached.�

It was alleged that Blackhawk and Coudotte along with George Defender and two young boys, Phillip Ireland and Paul Holy Track, went to the Spicer farm three days later. Fischer writes, “Spicer was cleaning his barn when they came.

The callers went into the barn and watched while Spicer hauled out a few loads of manure with his wheelbarrow. The visitors had with them a muzzle loading shotgun and, with this, shot Spicer in the back on one of his trips out of the barn.�

Fischer wrote that one man then lured Mrs. Spicer to the barn, where she, too, was shot. In the house were her mother, her adult daughter, Lillie Rowse, and two grandchildren. Fischer writes, “The killers...entered the house and killed Mrs. Spicer’s elderly mother with (a) club. Next they tried to enter the room where Mrs. Rowse had taken refuge with her twin sons.

She seized a shotgun and clubbed Coudette across the chest... Paul Holy Track then went into the room, and Mrs. Rowse swung a broken-bladed hoe at him,

striking him on the head, cutting a hole through his hat brim and inflicting a wound on his forehead.

She tried to swing again but the hoe caught on a wire stretched across the room, after which she was overpowered and beaten to death with a table leg. The killers then murdered the two babies, raising the total of deaths to six.�

After several days of speculation, the men named in Fischer’s story were in custody. Historian Frank Vyzralek writes, “The five told conflicting and constantly changing stories; but when particularly damaging confessions were extracted from the two youngsters, Emmons County officials decided to use them as state’s witnesses to proceed first against the older men. “Court opened in a tiny courthouse at Williamsport, then the Emmons County seat...with Alex Coudot as the defendant,� Vyzralek says. “An all-white jury lost no time in convicting him of first degree murder.

By this time, however, a considerable amount of talented legal help had rallied to the Indians’ defense, and while the county began proceedings against the second defendant, George Defender, Coudot’s conviction was appealed to the state supreme court. To the surprise of nearly all the white community the second trial ended in a hung jury, and a few months later another thunderbolt struck when the Supreme Court ordered a new trial for the

first defendant.�

It was immediately speculated that all the defendants would end up going free, and on the night November 13, 1897, a 40-man mob broke into the jail, grabbed Alec Coudot and the two boys, and lynched them from a cottonwood slaughtering frame. It was the state’s first and only multiple hanging, and the only hanging to ever occur in Emmons County. The other two prisoners were spared only because they were being held in Bismarck that night; the charges against them were later dropped.

by Merry Helm February 18, 2020 — Today is the birthday of Amie Lorsung Allison, who graduated from NDSU with an electrical engineering degree in 1995. In 2003, her alma mater honored her with the NDSU Alumni Horizon Award for her work with the space program. “I looked for a college,� she says, “that had a good engineering program and offered internships with NASA. I narrowed it down to NDSU and the University of Minnesota. NDSU was close to home and offered reciprocity to Minnesotans.

Also, I didn’t have a car until much later, so I wanted to live in a city where I could walk or ride bike. When I visited the NDSU campus, I decided I liked it.�

Allison was attracted to space from a young age. “I grew up in Long Prairie, MN,� she says, “where there is not much light pollution in the evening. I lived near the city golf course, and many nights I would go out to look up at the night sky, just full of stars and galaxies. It was probably because of those nights that I decided I wanted to work at NASA and have a chance to explore space. I knew humans would continue traveling farther and farther in space, and I wanted to be a part of it. And especially see how far it would take me!�

Amie says that when she started attending NDSU, her dad proudly told everyone his daughter was “taking up space in the classroom.� After two years, NDSU helped her get an internship at NASA, and from 1992 to 1995, she bounced between Fargo and the Johnson Space Center. “I ended up staying in every female and coed dorm at NDSU,� she says, “and many different apartments around Fargo, since I interned every other semester. I remember my first week in Texas. I drove down with a fellow NDSU student, who was also interning, and we lived together in Houston. Her car broke down a week after we started work, probably because the long drive from Fargo was too much for it. We didn’t know many people yet, so we had to walk everywhere in an area we didn’t know well (which made looking for a new car

Allison says working with NASA engineers made her want to work harder in school, since she was learning things she wanted to apply while interning.

And, it appears NASA made good use of Amieâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s talents. â&#x20AC;&#x153;My most memorable professional moment was working on the electrical system of a Russian Emergency Return Vehicle,â&#x20AC;? she says. â&#x20AC;&#x153;I remember talking to the older Russian engineers and thinking, â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;They donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t know that theyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re talking to an intern,â&#x20AC;&#x2122; and that felt good.â&#x20AC;?

Old Man Looks for Wife

by Merry Helm February 19, 2020 â&#x20AC;&#x201D; On this date in 1916, the Bismarck Tribune reported a Mr. William Hollis had been arrested in Minneapolis for vagrancy. He was on his way to Port Huron, Michigan, and had just walked 250 miles from Fargo through snowstorms and sub-zero weather.

Hollis was a railroad engineer until 1901. â&#x20AC;&#x153;When my wife left me, I threw up everything to look for her,â&#x20AC;? he said. He searched Chicago until his savings ran out and then headed farther west. Railroad buddies had given him free train rides for a while, but after 15 years, that was long over.

Now old, weak and hopelessly discouraged, Hollis was on his way home to die. Pastors Corner: Come Down Off The Mountain

BY PASTOR CHARLES JOHNSON Dakota Prairie Lutheran Parish Let’s begin with a word association exercise. What comes to mind when you hear the word “mountain?”

I first thought of the Rocky Mountains and then a number of additional mountain ranges throughout the world came to mind. And when I thought about the word “mountain” in reference to North Dakota the “Turtle Mountains” and the “Killdeer Mountains” came to mind.

The names sound right but are they really considered mountains. I did some checking.

When it comes to defining the word “mountain” this is a definition as found on Wikipedia. “There is no universally accepted definition of a mountain.

Elevation, volume, relief, steepness, spacing and continuity have been used as criteria for defining a mountain. In the Oxford English Dictionary a mountain is defined as “a natural elevation of the earth surface rising more or less abruptly from the surrounding level and attaining an altitude which, relatively to the adjacent elevation, is impressive or notable.”

The more information I looked at on these two mountain ranges in North Dakota it became evident that in reality these mountain ranges are buttes, or plateaus. The highest

elevation in the Killdeer Mountains is 3,314 feet, 192 feet lower than the highest elevation in North Dakota which is White Butte at 3,506 feet. Why all this interest revolving around the term “mountain?”

This Sunday, February 23 Christians throughout the world will celebrate Transfiguration Sunday in preparation for the Season of Lent. The gospel reading for this Sunday is from the Gospel of Matthew which tells of Jesus, along with Peter, James and John, going up a high mountain (probably Mount Hermon, 9,000 feet high). On the mountain the disciples watch as suddenly Moses and Elijah, two Old Testament prophets, appear and talk with Jesus.

The disciples listen as they hear a voice from heaven proclaim, “This is my Son, the Beloved; with him I am well pleased; listen to him!”

And then as Jesus and the disciples come down off the mountain, we hear Jesus say to them, “Tell no one about the vision until after the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”

On this Sunday sermons throughout the world will focus on some event or events that take place on the mountain of transfiguration. And, who knows how these sermons will speak to your life and the lives of those around you?

One thing I know for sure though is that we will not remain on the mountain.

Just as Jesus came down off the mountain so must we.

While Peter offered to

build three dwelling places for Jesus, Moses and Elijah this was not to be. Jesus came down off the mountain and set his face toward Jerusalem.

Jesus came down from the mountain for all Christians. Jesus came down from the mountain to fulfill

the promise of God to send a Savior into the world, God’s only Son Jesus the Christ. Jesus came down from the mountain. Jesus went to Jerusalem first to the cheers of the crowd and, four days later, to his betrayal, suffering, persecution, and death on the

cross. Jesus came down off the mountain to save the world from our sin.

As this Season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, know that Jesus is with us. Recall the words of the voice from heaven as they proclaim, “This is my Son, the Beloved; with him I

am well pleased; listen to him!” This Season of Lent know that Jesus is with us as we journey with Jesus to Jerusalem, to the agony of the cross, and to the joy of Easter. May we remember the mountain-top; let us celebrate of joy of the empty tomb.

they are looking for healthy protein that we can send them – like trail mix, jerky and peanut butter – things that can travel.”

“The kids donate their Halloween candy and we put a bunch of that in the boxes. The soldiers will eat that but also give it to the Afghan kids in the communities there. That is always kind of a neat thing,” she said.

This is the first time that Scranton has received a flag from Afghanistan. “That is a huge honor because it is a big deal for a military base to fly a flag in honor of a school and then send that flag here,” she added.

“It is quite an honor for the work they have done (at

Scranton) and the support they have shown our soldiers.”

Preschool through twelfth grade students participated in the program.

“The kids write letters to soldiers, so they are learning to write letters. We talk about 9/11 every year when we do these. It is part of our Resilience program which is teaching kids to have compassion and empathy for others,” she said.

Dr. Chiapella also thanked members of the American Legion Post 151 in Scranton for help with the cost of mailing the packages. “They have played a really big role,” she added.

Families Across Rural North Dakota Can Now Register Their Four-Year-Olds for a Kindergarten Readiness Program (Bismarck, ND) February 12, 2020 — For a second year, rural families across North Dakota have the opportunity to participate in a program that will help their four-year-olds prepare for school. These additional resources are thanks to a $14.2 million federal grant. The United States Department of Education awarded the nonprofit organization, Waterford. org an Education Innovation and Research (EIR) Expansion Grant with a goal of finding solutions to persistent challenges experienced by rural fam-

ilies in five western states through the Waterford UPSTART program.

Waterford.org was awarded the EIR expansion grant after successfully serving rural families in Utah.

“We’re grateful to be recognized for the important work we’ve been doing in Utah for a decade,” said Benjamin Heuston, CEO of Waterford.org.

“Across the country, some 2.2 million families with 4-year-olds lack access to resources that help children get ready for kindergarten, and we’re eager to put this grant to use helping students in

five more states prepare for a successful school experience, no matter their location or socioeconomic background.”

The pilots are enrolling for year two in Wyoming, North Dakota, and Idaho. South Dakota and Montana are also now enrolling for 2020. Chris Jones, Executive Director of ND’s Department of Human Services says, “North Dakota sees this as an opportunity to empower families to create time and space to learn and play together.”

Side Tip Garbage Cans: General discussion was held on wheeled side tip garbage cans. An unrequested sample was delivered to City Hall for our garbage crews to use and for the Commission to consider using in the future.

Dilapidated Homes: Discussion was held on dilapidated buildings in city limits. Limesand will visit with Attorney Wild on procedures and ordinances related to the removal of dilapidated buildings.

Information will be brought to the February 4th meeting Cleaners Building: Allen will request a letter from Attorney Wild, which states the City has the right to tear down the old cleaners building.

Vail will contact companies on a demolition quote of the building.

Prior to removal, a contract with the demolition company will be created stating the company will be liable for any damages that may result to the businesses next door.

C H I E F H E A D L E Y / PA D I L L A LYNCH: ND Law Enforcement Admin Support Conference: Lynch gave the Commission an overview of a Conference she would like to get started for police department administrative assistants. It would move location every 2 years to different cities.

Jackie Stebbins and Chief Headley will be speakers at no cost.

The POST board would like Lynch to come and explain her idea to them. Lynch would like the Commission to approve having the conference in Bowman and there is no cost being incurred directly by the City. Lynch approached the Tax and Tourism Committee and NIDRF for funds to help pay for the conference which is about $8,500.00 for the entire conference with catering.

Lynch is hoping to get the registration fee down to $100.00 per person.

Commission gives their approval on this event and feels it will be a great event for our community.

NON-LIQUOR LICENSE HOLDER PERMIT: Doerr said that the sponsoring liability requirement is discouraging people from participating. There was discussion on removing the requirement as long as the businesses dispensing alcohol provide their own alcohol liability insurance.

Motion by Limesand, second by Vail to change the non-liquor application by deleting the sponsor requirement and instead require D FHUWLĂ&#x20AC;FDWH RU SURRI RI DSSURSULate alcohol related liability insurance. RCV= all aye, MC. There was a question about having beer from a brewery in Montana as a beverage during the Art and Wine Walk to have men want to attend the event. The Commission felt they had no jurisdiction over that, the brewery must follow State regulations.

Bowman County Beach Wrestlers Prepare for State Tournament

BY SARAH MARTIAN Bowman County Beach Wrestlers finished out the Regional Tournament in Killdeer this past weekend with three Region champions and a third place team finish. Tucker Strand, Navarre Head, Mitch Stuber and Nate Boehm wrestled into the finals where Navarre fell short in an overtime match to place second while the others won their way to first place.

Bulldogs close regional play with win streak STAFF REPORT The Lady Bulldogs got hot at just the right time, closing out Region 7 on a streak with a win over Hazen Feb. 14 on the road and another over Glen Ullin/ Hebron Saturday night.

They improved the Bowman County record to 12-9 for the season and 8-3 in regional play.

It also cemented a fourth place finish in the standings for the Lady Bulldogs.

Beach top seed Beach clinched the top seed in the upcoming Region 7 tournament with a 50-39 victory over Heart River Friday.

Beach closed out the regional season Monday against Hazen.

With just one game left to play after Fridayâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s win, the Beach Buccaneers had a 9-1 regional record and a

one-game lead over both Heart River (9-2) and Hettinger-Scranton (9-2).

Bowman County finished regional play in fourth with an 8-3 mark, while Dickinson Trinity is fifth with a 6-4 record and Beulah is tied with New England at sixth in the standings with identical 5-5 records. Beach closed out their season with a 68-44 win over visiting Hazen.

New England added a win Monday to close the regional play with a 6-5 record with a 57-27 win over Killdeer at home.

Getting hot The 62-47 road victory at Hazen was the second regional win in the week.

The team started the streak Feb. 11, when the Bulldogs knocked the Dickinson Trinity Titans out of a tie in the standings with a 51-24 victory.

Then the Bulldogs

closed out regional play with a third straight win, beating Glen Ullin/Hebron 63-46 Saturday. Bowman County has an 8-3 record going into the regional tournament.

Bulldogs roll Visiting Hazen, the Bulldogs got off to a fast start, scoring 25 in the first quarter. In the second quarter both teams cooled off but the visitors still had a 34-24 lead at halftime.

The Bulldogs kept the pressure on in the third quarter with a 17-11 scoring edge.

Andrea Rodakowski led all scorers with 18 points, while Ellie Powell had 15 and Abby Smyle put in 11 points.

Jill Svihovec scored nine points in the win, while Alexius Miller and Bailey Peterson each had four.

Madeline Stafford finished with one point.

The Bison were led by Hope Ternesâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; 15 points.

Sydney Mossett put in 13, while Paige Erhardt had 12.

Blast Titans But it wasnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t even close Feb. 11 as the Bulldogs ran away with a 51-24 victory over the Titans.

The romp started early with the Bulldogs taking an 18-9 first quarter lead and continued to take a 28-15 halftime lead.

The Bulldogs kept pulling away in the third quarter, building up a 42-20 lead going into the final eight minutes.

Freshman Ellie Powell led all scorers with 13 points for the Bulldogs, while three players (Alexius Miller, Andrea Rodakowski and Abby Smyle) each finished with nine points.

The undefeated Miners defeated the Bulldogs by a 72-48 margin to stay on top in the regional standings with a 10-0 record.

It was the second regional loss of the season for the Bulldogs, falling to fifth in the standings as of Monday (Feb. 17).

The Bulldogs played Hettinger-Scranton Tuesday (Feb. 18) and will close out the regional season against Beach, New England and Heart River.

Slope County one of three in pilot project

STAFF REPORT Slope County may be the least populous county in the state, but it will also be playing a key role in a pilot project for electronically posting land access for hunters.

If successful, Slope County land as far west as Marmarth and the Montana

border would have hunters able to see if they are welcome or if they would be trespassing.

In a decision made in Bismarck several weeks ago, Slope, Ramsey and Richland counties were identified as participants in a trial to develop a mobile application, which will help hunters identify which land parcels allow hunting and

which do not.

When developed and operational, the app would allow landowners to post their land and the hunters find out which lands allow hunting.

The decision was made in the Natural Resources Committee of the state legislature Jan. 24 in Bismarck.

Currently, landowners must post with signs on

their land to deny access by hunters.

According to the committeeâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s chairman, Sen. Robert Eberle of Lehr, the counties face a July 15 deadline to electronically post the land.

There will be another meeting in April.

If successful, the electronic access project could be expanded.

The Slope County Commission chairman, Scott Ouradnik, has said he felt the project gives the county with just over 700 residents a seat at the table.

The county stretches from almost to New England to the east and south to Bowman County. To the west, it goes all the way to the Montana border and include the historic city of

Marmarth.

Monge explained Friday morning, the semi will be stopping at the local food pantry, located in the senior citizen center. â&#x20AC;&#x153;In Amidon, we wonâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t be staying. We will just be dropping off and leaving.

The food pantry will be running their own distribution there. People will be able to pick up around 9 a.m.,â&#x20AC;?

Monge said. â&#x20AC;&#x153;Anyone in need of food assistance can drop by, and if folks need to pick up for someone who canâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t get there, that is okay. â&#x20AC;&#x153;We are looking at trying to move about 18,000 pounds of food,â&#x20AC;? she added.

The food will also be available for people in surrounding communities but only at the three locations.

Once the trial is concluded, the 2021 legislature will determine what to do next.

According to a spokesman for the North Dakota Game and Fish department, the electronic posting could end the need for owners to physically post signs on their property.

Obituary Eve Marie Fischer Eve Marie Fischer of Fargo, ND died Friday, February 10, 2020 at Pioneer Assisted Living in Fargo, ND. Eve Marie Fischer was born January 24, 1928 in Amidon, ND to Anna (Wenzel) Buzalsky and Frank Buzalsky. Eve entered her family of 4 siblings, and was soon joined by her little sister Shirley, to begin a loving and hardworking farm life near Bowman, ND. Eve spoke fondly of her life on the farm, proud of her contribution to her family caring for livestock, bailing hay, and being a crack shot with a rifle acquiring animal hides for needed extra income.

After high school Eve worked as a bank teller and as a receptionist at a medical practice in North Dakota. She then traveled to the east coast becoming a New York model. She returned to North Dakota to marry Albert Carl Fischer of Strasburg, ND on May 1, 1952. They welcomed their son Tom into their home in Fargo, ND on 10/21/1954. They relocated to Minot, ND where son Gary was born on 12/9/1959.

They then returned to Fargo where Eve pursued many careers including selling Avon; working in Special Education and Preschool for the Fargo School System; assistant manager at the Kristenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Diet Center; and as a bailiff at District Court in Fargo, ND. Eve was active in her church and an organizer of the church prayer telephone chain for decades. Eve will be remembered as a hardworking independent woman being a widow for 40 years, having a great sense of humor, and being a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Eve is survived by her son, Gary Fischer (Barb) of Onalaska, WI; two grandchildren Daniel Fischer of Onalaska, WI and Jaime Oâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;Neill (Mike) of Fargo, ND; two great-grandchildren John Oâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;Neill and Andrew Oâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;Neill; and sister Shirley (Bowman, ND).

Eve is preceded in death by her husband, Al Fischer; her son, Tom Fischer; parents Anna and Frank Buzalsky; sister Evelyn Bolte; and brothers Edward Buzalsky, Raymond Buzalsky and Leo Buzalsky.

A funeral mass will be scheduled in the spring in Fargo, ND. The family would like to thank Pioneer
