Get away from everything
If you are seeking a getaway to a coastal haven, look no further than Yachats. Located centrally on the Oregon Coast, Yachats is a town of about 800 people with an array of good eats, small shops and biodiversity that can keep you busy for a day trip or even an extended stay.
Located on the famous coastal Highway 101, Yachats sits between pristine rustic beaches and lush forested mountains. According to the Yachats website, the town was initially known as Oceanview but was renamed in 1916 to differentiate it from other coastal towns that bore the name Oceanview. The townspeople chose the Indian name Yachats because of the nearby Yachats River. Though the settlement formed in the late 1800s, Native Americans populated the land for hundreds of years. To learn more about the town’s roots and history, visitors can visit the Little Log Church and Museum, originally constructed in the late 1920s.
As with many settlements in the late 19th century, European settlers displaced many Native residents. While the history of Native American displacement marks a dark time in Oregon history, the town is known for its incredible biodiversity and welcoming community.
Cape Perpetua Scenic Area south of Yachats offers spectacular views that would make any amateur or professional photographer salivate. Near Cape Perpetua,
the US Forest Service maintains 26 miles of hiking trails and a 6-mile bike loop. Other Forest Service and State hiking and campgrounds around Yachats bolster these outdoor opportunities. Yachats offers limitless possibilities to cycling and hiking enthusiasts in summer and spring.
If shopping, relaxing, and dining out are things people are interested in, Yachats is home to various unique opportunities. If you are staying in Yachats, there are cozy seaside cottages, well-maintained campgrounds, full resorts, and spas to accommodate any taste. The town of Yachats also hosts a wide array of shops. Yachats Mercantile, Just Local, and Deep Water Souvenirs are just a few shops where you may find treasure downtown.
There is a wide variety of breweries, artisanal cafes, and seafood spots for those looking for a tasty bite. Green Salmon Coffee Shop offers visitors and residents firstrate breakfast, and Yachats Brewing is the perfect way to cap off a day of adventuring. Located right on the coast, it’s hard to find fresher seafood than if you stop at Luna Sea Fish House or Leroy’s Blue Whale Family Restaurant.
So whether you need a getaway for just a day or you are looking to get lost on the coast for a week, the natural escape of the landscape and the warm, welcoming community give Yachats a unique experience for any traveler passing through.

Pacific City: Adventures await you
Pacific City is a place to fish, camp, and adventure away from the buzz of city life. Nestled between Cape Kiwanda, Nestucca River, and Nestucca Bay, Pacific City is a place of biodiverse and geologic wonder.
The present-day Pacific City area was once home to the Indian Tribes of the Nestuggas and the Killamooks. Fire, disease, and forced resettlement by European settlers drove these Native people from the land in the late 1800s.
Originally dubbed Ocean Park in 1893, Pacific City became the official name in 1909 to avoid confusion with Ocean Park, Washington. Since its founding, Pacific City has become a popular getaway for its scenic views, outdoor activities, and friendly and welcoming community.
The spectacular Three Capes Scenic Loop also passes directly through Pacific City. It’s one of the most epic and scenic drives in Oregon. The coastal section of the road takes you to Cape Kiwanda, Cape Lookout, and Cape Meares.
Pacific City can keep visitors enchanted for the duration of any visit. Whether folks want to hike up to the top of Cape Kiwanda State National Area to catch a view of the iconic Chief Kiawanda Rock (a sea stack
off the coast) or immerse themselves in the renowned fishing of the rivers, lakes, and ocean.
Pacific City is also one of the only west coast beaches where fishing dories are launched. Fishing dories are small fishing boats, and if you are in Pacific City at the right time, you can watch as local fishermen launch their boats directly from the beach. If you want to join, companies like Haystack Fishing will take you out to fish with them in the waves.
There is plenty of options for people who want to stay the night in Pacific City. Beachfront hotels and Airbnb locations offer access to breathtaking landscapes. Pacific City has many cuisines and fabulous seafood for those looking for a bite to eat. Pelican Pub and Brewery is the perfect way to wrap up a day of fishing and adventuring. Meridian Restaurant and Bar at Headlands offer a tasty assortment of fresh seafood and local produce on their menu.
For those who love shopping, Village Shops Pacific City and Lucky Beach Boutique offer a variety of souvenirs and artisan products that are perfect gifts for friends and loved ones.
Pacific City has only about 1,000 people, but its natural attractions and welcoming townsfolk make for endless opportunities.
