Free entertainment for all ages throughout the weekend Wholesome, fun and free entertainment for all ages can also be found at the Fallon County Fair Friday, August 15, through Sunday, August 17.

The Freckle Farm Petting Zoo from Arizona will be on site and has been family owned and operated for 26 years. The petting zoo features a variety of animals including goats, sheep, potbellied pigs, chickens, ducks, bunnies, alpacas, and mini donkeys.

Pippi the Clown will return brightly dressed in her clown best with her cart full of surprises. Pippi (Jeanne Thomas) based out of Red Lodge has toured the world but is thrilled to be a part of the local fairs and festivals. She is an accomplished balloon artist and incredible face painter and brings great joy to children.

The Free Stage will spotlight some remarkable talent including Mama’s Wranglers, Adam the Great, and Cale Moon.

Mama’s Wranglers are the Jackson family band and cloggers from Las Vegas, NV. They have performed in 49 states, Canada and Europe. The children are 1223 years of age and have powerful vocal harmonies. They were recently voted “Young Entertainers of the Year” and were nominated for the Academy of Western Artists.

Adam the Great from Portland, OR will entertain audiences with innovative magic and original comedy. He has proven himself to be one of the premier magicians in his region and his style of magic amazes crowds.

Cale Moon is an amazing young man with a big voice. Moon is a genuinely talented country singer/songwriter with a feel-good sound and has been compared to a young George Strait with the potential to become country music’s next rising star.

Two nights of world-class musical entertainment Renowned for presenting world-class music, the Fallon County Fair will once again provide stellar live performances to rock the crowds late into Friday and Saturday nights.

Richie Scholl, an Australian native, is no stranger to the road as an entertainer and has been headlining shows for the last decade. Scholl will be at the Fallon County Fair on the patio from 9 p.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, and Saturday, Aug. 16.

Scholl was born and raised in the cattle, coal and rail town of rockhampton in Queensland, Australia. After first picking up a guitar at age 13, it was barely a year before he was playing at licensed bars and clubs at least a couple of nights a week.

He has hardly put down the guitar since, which has allowed him to learn anything and everything from country, blues, and pop to rock.

Scholl has played for country acts like Chuck Wicks and Jason Michael Carroll. He currently resides in Nashville, TN and the release of his third album is highly anticipated and is already receiving great reviews.

One of music’s most enduring pop/rock legends, Rick Springfield, will headline the entertainment at the Fallon County Fair Saturday, Aug. 16, at 8 p.m.

Springfield’s music has been frequently dismissed as teen idol fare, but his hits have actually withstood the test of time, and his music continues to emerge as some of the best crafted music on the scene. A singer turned soap opera star back to singer, Springfield was born Aug. 23, 2949, in Sydney, Australia. He formed a band in high

school and eventually joined a ‘50s revival group called Rock House then moved to the band Zoot in 1968. Zoot became one of the most popular groups in Australia in the early 70s. Springfield went solo after the breakup and entered the U.S. scene but did not immediately find success.

Springfield began taking acting classes, which eventually led him to play Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital in 1981 and his popularity skyrocketed. During that time he secured a recording contract with RCA and later that year released the album “Working Class dog”. Powered by the single “Jessie’s Girl”, which hit the top of the charts, the album became a smashing success and Springfield eventually returned to his first love of music.

Springfield received a Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance with his number one hit, “Jessie’s Girl”. It was followed by four more top ten hits, “I’ve done Everything For You”, “Don’t Talk to Strangers”, “Affair of the Heart”, and “Love Somebody”. His latest edgy and modern album, “Songs for the End of the World”, proves once again he is a true artist. With 25 million albums sond and 17 top 40 hits, Springfield continues to stun audiences with his high energy and fan focused shows which deliver hit after hit.

4-H/FFA Livestock Sale The annual 4-H/FFA Livestock Sale will take place Saturday, Aug. 16, after the rodeo at approximately 4:30 p.m. Potential buyers who are interested in purchasing an animal have two options. People may purchase an animal outright by paying the total cost and taking possession of it. The second option is to pay only the amount bid above the current market price. Swine, poultry and rabbits are not eligible for a premium bid. Market value will be based on local markets and will be announced before the sale.

If possible, people should attend the sale in person. If anyone is unable to make the sale and would like someone to bid for them, they should call 406778-7110. The livestock sale committee will be happy to work with the public on any purchases.

This year’s market sale includes 21 beef, 15 swine, 14 sheep, 17 goats, 9 poultry, and 11 rabbits.

Cowboy Church Sunday morning Several area churches will be working together to bring the Cowboy Church service to community members and fair-goers Sunday, Aug. 17, at 10 a.m. at the fairgrounds grandstands.

The American Lutheran Church will sponsor the radio broadcast of the service on 960 KFLN. Pastor Joe Noel of the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church of Plevna will deliver the message and the Lakeview Baptist Church music team will lead the music.

The offering will go to the Salvation Army fund administered by the Bank of Baker.

All local churches are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

PRCA rodeos promise more than eight seconds of excitement The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) sanctioned rodeos for the 2014 Fallon County Fair will feature more cowboys and action with rough stock being furnished by the Mosbrucker Rodeo Company from Mandan, ND. Premium rodeo action will be in the arena Saturday, Aug. 16, and Sunday, Aug. 17, starting at 1:00 p.m. both days. Rodeos will include all PRCA sanctioned events: bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, and bull riding. Special events will include the Wild Horse

Race at the beginning of the Saturday rodeo, and Calf Dressing at the end of the Sunday rodeo.

PRCA rodeo slack will be Saturday, Aug. 16, at 8:00 a.m. Mutton Busting will be during the Saturday rodeo following the steer wrestling. Youth ages 5-9 years old can participate in the event. Contest is limited to the first 12 contestants. Youth are required to have a helmet, long sleeves, jeans, close toed shoes, and must be within the 80 pound weight limit..

Junior barrels will be during the Sunday rodeo following the WPRA event. Youth 615 years old can participate in the event.

Parents must sign for a child to compete in each of these events. Visit the Fallon County Fairgrounds office for the necessary paperwork.

Get your seats early because the stands will be packed for the Baker Wrestling Club Demolition Derby. The crowd-drawing event will be Sunday, Aug. 17, at 6 p.m. with general admission tickets $7.00.

The derby follows Big Sky Demolition Derby Association rules. In addition to the main heats, there will be a grudge heat, truck heat, and the finale. The truck heat will follow truck derby rules with a winner take all payout.

Total prize money will be $5,000 paid for first through fourth place in the finale.

The trophy will be sponsored by Baker Metal and Recycling.

The crowd will not only have the excitement of the derby to watch, but can participate in the popular Baker Wrestling Club 50/50 drawing, and driver calcutta before the finale. Ticket holders also have a chance for their number to be drawn for prizes.

To sell an animal at the fair, 4-H and FFA members must complete a Livestock Quality Assurance training a minimum of every other year. LQA teaches record keeping, food safety and proper techniques of handling animals. This insures a safe, high quality product for the buyers, not only at the Fallon County Fair, but also at the super market.

Monster truck action at the Fair Let the roar of high power engines take you over as action-packed monster trucks enter the Fallon County Fairgrounds arena Thursday, August 14, at 8 p.m. The Monster X Tour is a thrilling monster truck series featuring some of the top monster trucks and incredible freestyle motocross.

Rock Star, California Kid and Reverse Racer will battle it out at the fair in an unbelievable

fight to be number one. The trucks will perform some incredible tricks and acrobats over a bed of wrecked cars with more than 1,500 horse power.

Livestock Trailer Show The Open Livestock Trailer Show will be held Saturday, Aug. 16. Entry deadline for sheep is 9:15 a.m. with a $7.00 entry fee and show at 9:30 a.m.

Entry deadline for beef is 10:15 a.m. with a $20.00 entry fee and show at 10:30 a.m.

All classes will be jackpotted and paid up to ten places.

Sheep prizes are: $100 Grand Market Lamb, $50 Reserve, and $50 Grand Ram and Ewe, $25 Reserve.

Beef prizes are: $300 Grand Steer and Heifer and $150 Reserve Steer and Heifer.

Other events at the Fallon County Fair A few more interesting things to attend at the fair are the Open Class and 4-H horse judging in the outdoor arena starting at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13. Open class llama and alpaca judging follows at 11:00 a.m., and goat trail judging 1:00 p.m. The cat and dog shows are at 2:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.

More livestock judging continues on Thursday, Aug. 14, and all day Friday, Aug. 15, starting at 8:00 a.m. and concluding with the important 4H/FFA Market Beef show at 5:00 p.m.

Midway amusements for the whole family Returning to the Fallon County Fair to provide midway amusements is the Funtime Carnival of Payette, ID. Whirling rides, challenging games, and carnival food will be available for the enjoyment of all ages.

Funtime Carnival amusements will be open Thursday, Aug. 14, 6-11 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 15, 5-11 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 16, 1-11 p.m.; and Sunday, Aug. 17, 1-6 p.m. Advance tickets are available at the fairgrounds office until Wednesday, Aug. 13.

Fun, family friendly amusements on the midway will provide quality entertainment for those attending the fair.

Pet Parade The annual Pet Parade will be Saturday, Aug. 16, at 12:30 p.m. in the Fair Square at the fairgrounds. Pet owners are welcome to come early and register their pet. Categories to be judged include: Holiday Attire, Owner Look-Alike, Most Unique Pet, Tricks I Can Do, and Fancy Feline.
