Little Change In Country’s Power Gold

Perhaps it’s the pandemic; maybe it’s the state of Country radio or the Country listener today. Regardless, the fact is that the Top 100 Power Gold songs and the artists who sing them have remained very much the same since our last PG update in the Feb. 10, 2020 Country Aircheck Weekly. Once again eight artists posted 46 songs in the PG Top 100. And, those eight artists are the same names as six months ago. Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan lead the pack with seven songs each in the Top 100. Blake Shelton and Kenny Chesney contribute five apiece to the chart, while Florida Georgia Line, Thomas Rhett, Carrie Underwood and Zac Brown Band each have five. Also like six months ago, one artist has four songs among the Top 100. This time though, Billy Luke Bryan Currington is the act with four PG hits, replacing Dierks Bentley who had four in February but three this time. The result is the same: nine artists contributing to 50% of the most-heard PG tunes. This Top 100 Power Gold – along with the airplay information in the previous paragraph – is culled from Mediabase 24/7 and music airplay information from the Country Aircheck/Mediabase reporting panel for the week of July 26-Aug. 1, 2020. Here’s the Top 10: 1. Zac Brown Band/Chicken Fried 2. Darius Rucker/Wagon Wheel 3. Sam Hunt/Body Like A Back Road 4. Florida Georgia Line/Cruise 5. Dustin Lynch/Small Town Boy 6. Jon Pardi/Dirt On My Boots 7. Billy Currington/Do I Make You Wanna 8. Jake Owen/Barefoot Blue Jean Night 9. Kane Brown f/Lauren Alaina/What Ifs 10. Carrie Underwood/Blown Away
