Haley completed her first two years of University Studies and then transferred to University of Lethbridge to complete her Bachelor of Science. “I had no problem getting full transfer credit at the University of Lethbridge for the courses I studied at College of the Rockies. I also found that I had a much better experience of first and second year science courses than other students who completed them at university, especially labs, because of the smaller class sizes and individual attention from instructors. - Haley, University Studies Alumni

A WORLD OF OPPORTUNITIES

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT POPULATION Students come from all over the world to attend College of the Rockies. In 2015/16, students from more than 40 different countries were attending courses at our campuses. Through the Canada Work Permit Program, international students can find employment both while they study and after completion of their College program.

#1

WE’RE #1 WITH INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

– and pretty proud of that!

For three years in a row, international students ranked College of the Rockies as number one in Canada and, for two consecutive years, first in the world for overall average student satisfaction. International students from 183 institutions in 18 countries were asked to rate their experience at their institution. The survey* covered four benchmarks – arrival experience, learning, living and support. The College ranked number one in all four categories. *Conducted by the International Graduate Insight Group (i-graduate), the International Student Barometer is the largest annual survey of international students in the world.

 MEET ALEXIS... Alexis attended two years of University Studies courses at College of the Rockies before transferring to third year of the Social Work program at Vancouver Island University. During her time at the College, she had the opportunity to participate in two different field schools – first to Guatemala and then to London. “It is because of my instructor and the College that I was able to take part in travel that changed my life. I am so grateful for that. I am sad to be leaving the College now that my two years are done. I have built such great relationships with the instructors here.”

The Adventure Tourism Business Operations program was definitely the kick-start to the amazing experiences I have had so far. I cannot say enough about the program. It is an incredible opportunity for young Canadians to jump-start a career in international tourism.

 MEET GREG... Ontario native, Greg Snell knows how to live life to its fullest. Greg graduated from the Adventure Tourism Business Operations program at the College’s Golden campus in 2009, and since has completed a College-sponsored internship in Ecuador, and lead small group adventure travel trips through Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay and The Patagonia. In 2013, Greg applied for and won Tourism Australia’s ‘Best Job in the World – Wildlife Caretaker’ position. With over 330,000 applicants from 196 countries, Snell was the only Canadian to make it to the finals. His reward – six months in South Australia swimming

34

with Great White sharks, snorkeling with sea lions and hanging out with kangaroos – all while helping to conserve the pristine natural environment of the island. Greg is now working hard on his next innovative endeavour – an online documentary travel series. Travel Global Think Local “tells powerful stories of extraordinary people in incredible places.” The focus of the series is community projects that encourage empowerment, sustainability and the actions of people who are making the world a better place.
