Former Chemical Society President, Kevin Azur, brings pride for Tarlac State University (TSU) after gaining the ninth spot in the October 2019 Chemical Technician Licensure Examination for which he dedicates to his late mother.

During an interview with Azur, he stated that his motivation and inspiration on his journey towards being a licensed chemist and chemical technician is his family, who helped him a lot, especially his mother, who passed away in 2017.

"My family, who helped me a lot especially my late mother who passed away last March 2017.

Ever since the day that she passed away, I already promised to graduate with honors for her," Azur said when asked about his inspiration.

Upon knowing the results of the two wwwewRegulatory Commission, Azur recounted the sacrifices and efforts he put forth to obtain these licenses, which he revealed he did not expect because

he had doubts about his answer.

"When the night results came out, I didn't feel like seeing the results, for I doubted myself that I didn't pass both board exams," he said.

Beyond his success, Azur told that his journey towards this success is not an easy endeavor.

"First of all, from the review center, we were trained with various multiple-choice questions in

every subject that we’ve taken in the board exam, since it is a mixture of concepts and computations in both board examinations, I am slightly confident in the computation part of all the subjects and rather focus on the conceptual part," Azur added.

Meanwhile, the College of Science (COS), particularly the Department of Chemistry, celebrates with Azur's achievement, for this is also a success for the entire university.

Professor Claire Lagrana, Chemistry Department Chairperson, extended her warm congratulatory message to Azur and even stated that he deserves the triumph he had achieved, for she saw the sacrifices of Azur while preparing for the said board exams.

"He truly deserved his achievement, until his last minute in Los Banos, he spent all his time in reviewing for the licensure exam. Nakita ko kasi he became inactive in social media for the whole duration of the review," Prof. Lagrana said.

Batch Sapientiae 2019 from the Department of Nursing recently accumulated a passing rate of 94.74% for first takers last November 2019 in the recent Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination.

The Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC)-Board of Nursing revealed that 7,627 out of 13, 816 exam-takers passed the Nurse Licensure Examination last December 6, 2019. TSU produces twenty-six (26) graduates accumulating a 76.92 % university passing rate.

Sa kabila ng hindi pagtanggap ng mga bagong enrollees ng departmento ng Food technology, nagkaroon pa rin ng pagtaas sa mga bagong enrollees ng COS kabilang na dito ang halos na-dobleng bilang ng Departamento ng BS Environmental science at BS Mathematics.

Ayon kay Mehelle Bunao,Clerk ng College of Science faculty ,mula sa 38 na officially enrolled noong nakaraang semestre, tumaas ng halos 50% ang bilang ng mga enrollees ng BSES, samantalang nagtala naman ng 74 na enrollees ang

departamento ng BS Mathematics ngayong kasalukuyang semestre ng taon mula sa 16 na officially enrolled lamang nito nakaraang semester.

Samantala, may pagtaas din sa bilang ng populasyon ng BS Chemistry na may kasalukuyang kabuuang bilang na 127.

Through the initiative of giving students an insight into their future career and profession, the College Student Council of the College of Science held the very first career talk with the theme "Managing a Generation for Nourishing Accomplishment" at the Lucinda Campus Amphitheater last September 21, 2019.

Students from the five departments of the college eagerly attended the said activity.

Masaya at makulay na idinaos ang ika-113 foundation week ng Tarlac State University (TSU) noon ika-13 hanggang ika-19 ng Oktubre 2019. Isa sa mga pinaka-inabangang aktibidad ng mga mag-aaral mula sa College of Science (COS) ay ang COS day.

Ginanap ang COS day noong ika-17 ng Oktubre sa TSU-Lucinda Campus sa pangunguna ng COS Student Council (COS-SC).

Iba’t - ibang palaro ang inihanda ng COS-SC na agresibong nilahukan ng mga estudyante ng nasabing kolehiyo. Pagsapit ng katanghalian, masayang nagsalo-salo ang lahat sa nakahandang boodle fight.

Pinaghandaan rin ng mga organisayon ng bawat departamento ang kanilang mga booth. Nag-

presinta ang bawat organisayon ng mga paninda na tinangkilik naman ng mga mag-aaral.

“Super saya kasi everything went well according to what was planned, tsaka nakipag participate kasi talaga lahat ng organization at mga estudyante ng limang departments especially doon sa mga games,” ani ni Ivan Fernadez, gobernador ng COS-SC.

“Sobrang saya po ng COS day, narelease ko po yung stress ko dahil sa midterms. Makikita po na pinaghandaan talaga ng council ang araw na ito,” pahayag ng isang magaaral na lumahok sa mga aktibidad.

Kasalukuyan namang pinaghahandaan ng COS-SC and 5th Student Leaders’ Assembly na gaganapin sa Enero 2020. Hinihingi nila ang patuloy na pagsuporta sa lahat ng mga aktibidad na gagawin ng COS.

Former Chem Soc President aces Chem Tech Licensure Examination...

The White-wolves’ community is happy for the triumph of Azur and considered him as an inspiration to those who are currently taking the Chemistry program.

Aside from Azur, other 49 out of 68 takers from the university passed the Chemical Technician Licensure Exam that gave the university a passing rate of 73.53% against the 81% national passing rate.

For the Chemist Licensure Examination, only eight (8) out of 43 takers did pass the said exam, which gave the university a passing rate of 18.60 %, a six percent (6%) higher than last year's 12 %, against the national passing 42%.

The graduates who passed the Chemist Licensure Exam are; Kevin Michael Azur, Jean Mariel Baluyot, Reign Celine Bustarde, Gian Carlo Cancel, Jherwin Espinosa, Luiz Liwanag, Therese Angeli Saldivar, and Daniel Soriano.

Beyond these figures, Prof. Lagrana disclosed that it is not still good if

compared to the national passing rate.

"Hindi tumaas ang passing rate(natin), sa Chemist, ang national passing is 42%, tayo ay 18% (last year 12%). Sa Chemtech national passing rate is 81%, tayo ay 73%, hindi pa din good figure", Prof. Lagrana stated.

Recently the College of Science had already imposed the retention policy for the chemistry program to increase the number of Chemistry board passers and able to surpass the national passing rate.

Due to this reason, Prof. Lagrana said that they will strictly implement the approved retention policy. All students in the 1st and 2nd year should maintain a grade of 2.5 or better in all professional subjects. Noncompliance shall mean, repeating the subject. Implementation of Integrated review in the new curriculum where students will be required to take the 3-unit subject, undergo team-teaching by qualified professors, and pass the examination before allowing them to graduate, making sure that they are ready in taking the licensure exam.

Vaccine Hesitancy: Call for Outbreak?

Again the country is plagued by epidemics causing widespread illness and sometimes death among young people. Having a vaccine is always a recommendation from the Department of Health (DOH) for the prevention of infectious diseases; Also, immunization due to vaccination is a great help in preventing diseases like polio and measles.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 90% of the world’s countries report vaccine hesitation as one of the top threats to global health; as the WHO has referred to vaccine hesitation as “declining vaccines despite the availability of vaccination services,” resulting in increased measles outbreaks and recurrence of polio outbreaks.

Based on the validated data from DOH, it declared that the most affected age-group ranged from 1 month up to 75 years old with 1 to 4 years old (34%), and 64% of them have no history of vaccination.

According to the Philippine Pediatric Society, the number of measles cases last year rose to over 5,000 confirmed cases. And that number is rising much higher in this year’s first months, causing chaos in children’s wards and over-

whelming doctors in both urban and rural parts of the country.

While I wait for my student portal to open and display my grades, I continue to pray that I get a grade equal to the diligence, stress, and hard work I have provided throughout my internship. But the conversation I had with my batchmates are distractions that keep my positivity away from my sanity.

had the last mid-year was the internship training, it took us just over 324 hours to complete it, over 40 days of waking up at 4 am, and plenty of overtime but, somehow, I thought it was done and productive.

Kaya naman nitong taon, pinaigting ng Department of Chemistry ng Tarlac State University ang pagpapatupad ng 2.5 Retention Policy sa mga Chemistry major subjects ng first at second year students. Kumbaga, 2.5 is the new 3.0.

Napapaisip ka na ba kung maabot mo yang quota na ‘yan? Kinakabahan ka na ba kasi hindi ganoon kataas yung mga marka mo sa exam? Natatakot ka ba na

baka ulitin mo yung subject? Sinasabi ko sayo, normal lang yan. Pero teka hindi kita tuturuan sa column na to kung paano pumasa ah. Susubukan ko lang iparealize sayo yung mga bagaybagay.

Una, hindi nandyan yang 2.5 na yan para ipressure at pahirapan tayo sa pag-aaral o kaya naman para sirain yang pangarap natin sa buhay. Nandyan yan para paalalahanan tayo na kailangan nating magsipag at maglaan ng maraming effort sa pag-aaral.

Young adults na tayo. Kumbaga, dapat natutuklasan na natin yung mga dapat iprioritize sa buhay—

Dapat naman medyo mabahala tayo, subukan nating aralin o kaya magpaturo tayo dun sa nakagets para hindi tayo magsisi after exam. Habang maaga, subukan nating tumayo sa sarili nating mga paa.

I heard people whining!

People complain all the time, regardless of the effect of their actions and words. For instance, when people find that their favorite team is losing or do actions leading to their loss, they complain. Yes, there are cases that we should express dissatisfaction or annoyance about something, but sometimes people need to know when to fret or not.

In today's society, most of us tend to enjoy things in life that are not necessary. Kids are upset about not having the best phones or gadgets and comparing their lives to other kids of the same age. People complain about doing

chores that take them a few minutes and end up taking half an hour to do just because they do not want to do it. Many say life is unjust when things do not go their way, but they know as we all do: life is rarely fair. Hitting a bumpy cracked road can send anyone complains that life is unfair.

There is an organization called "A Complaint Free World," which tries to help individuals to give up the habit of complaining, they help to eradicate this habit of what it deems a toxic form of communication.

Or those who come to me seemingly wanting advice but then ignore my suggestions and continue grumbling about the same grievance. Constant complaining makes a person unhealthy. Complaining never makes anything better. Being a complaintive person becomes the norm in today's society.

Excessive complaints can be harmful to your health and can cause negativity.

When they become this negative, it is not only hard to be around them but tough to get along with them. When people are around with people who complain all the time and who are super negative they might become that person too and that is never a good situation.

Instead of surrounded by all the negativity in the world, they should surround themselves with people who see the positive aspect of things. One of the things to keep in mind is that complaints are not solved all at once.

Like someone unsatisfied with his/ or her weight could change their lifestyle

to achieve what he/ or she wants. It is better to change to be happy rather than complaining all the time. If it is something that cannot be changed, they should try to look on the bright side.

Still, complaining can be a positive thing if it helps to improve someone or something. Without disregarding other's feelings and opinions, fussing over things with a valid reason may result in an advantage.

Therefore, if you noticed something worth complaining about, such as poor service or irresponsible action, then you could file a complaint. However, protest positively and constructively. State properly your problems and issues then request immediate action. Do not be disrespectful even if you have a perfectly valid point.

Being polite in making a complaint will avoid some conflicts and pave the way to success and a satisfactory solution.

Underwater introduces another epic battle of lone creatures, led by Norah Price who works on an underwater research site controlled by the Titan Industries that intends to drill 7 miles to the bottom of the Mariana trench. It was just not an ordinary research work; it was 7 miles below the surface. Kepler 822 station was compromised due to a massive earthquake leading to

a catastrophic breach from the pressure caused by the earthquake. Price and Rodrigo escape the catastrophe and prevent it for further damage to the station buy closing it. As they make their way to the escape pod bay, they found another survivor, Paul. Six people tried to survive during the catastrophe that killed hundreds of people. The three discover that all of the escape pods are used or destroyed. There are no emergency crews on the area, only Captain Lucien. As they reach the control base area, Emily Haversham, biologist and Engineer Liam Smith, following attempts was made but they were unsuccessful to make contact with the surface. The captain found another way but it is too risky, they should put pressurized suits and walk one mile across the ocean floor to the Roebuck Station 641. Emerging from the station into a cargo elevator, when they found that Rodrigo’s helmet is faulty and it got killed from the pressure. The crews see a distress beacon from one of the escape pods, Smith and Paul go outside to investigate. They arrive and the pod has been ripped open and the body lies in the debris. Paul check the body for what caused him to die, when a hatchling creature emerge from it and attack him. They killed the creature and bring it inside. Haversham investigates and realizes that this is a part of previously undiscovered species. The five begin to walk with their suit on, suddenly Kepler explodes and it caused the debris to fly towards them. One of them is hit by the debris, Smith, Price and Lucien save him and brings him inside. They take to the access tunnel, as they charge and clean their suits; they notice that Smith’s oxygen source is damaged by the debris. On their way to access tunnel, Paul got attacked by an unknown creature it ripped out his suit and killed him as it dragged him underwater.

As they start to walk across the ocean floor, a humanoid creature appears and dragged Smith into a cave. As smith pull out by Lucien, but then tries to go for Smith's bolt gun, allowing the creature an opportunity to drag Lucien up through the water and away from the other three. The creature begins ascending and Price is dragged along with Lucien, he did not hesitate to sacrifice himself in order for Price to escape the increasing change in pressure. In an abandoned Shepard Station, Price was left all alone, she finds that Lucien worked there beforehand; she got suspicion from these species and their involvement with the drilling stations. Price tries to make contact with Smith and Haversham. She gets a new pressurized suit and leaves the station, continuing toward Roebuck. Price reunites with Haversham, dragging Smith towards the Roebuck Station and proceeds to help. As they enter the station, a nest of humanoid creature hanging from the ceiling is found. Haversham’s suit is low on oxygen and produces a sound of an automated message that caused one of the creatures to wake up and attack Price. She shoots the creature after it is partially swallowed by the creature.

Another creature appeared causing an explosion. They continue their way into the Roeback.

After they reach the escape pod bay, only two pods work. Price convince Haversham to take the last pod. A gigantic alpha creature approached and destroyed everything, the creatures started to follow the two escape pods, and the alpha attack the Roebuck. Price did everything she could, she take her own life by rasing the energy levels of the core engines to explode. The company cover up the incident and the Haversham and Smith’s testimonies classified. The company continue to their mission.

Life is a journey, not a single journey but a series of journeys. Filled with lessons, joys, excitement, downs and pleasure in the different routes we take over.

My parents, begin to sketch out an imaginary map of the path they believe I should take in order to have a successful life. A "successful life" is defined by how victoriously the map holder completes the journey that is set before him or her. As soon as a child can comprehend the meaning of words, a map of the long and difficult journey, described with hope and admiration, is set before them. The maps other than physical are passed on by mouth through family, friends, and acquaintances describing their experiences and opinions about the routes that they had taken on their own personal journey. A journey is made up of one overall maps and various smaller maps, telling of the alternate routes that are available.

The road with different routes will not always be smooth; in fact, throughout our travels, we will encounter multifarious challenges. Some of these challenges will test our faith. Along the way, we may stumble and fall upon obstacles that will come between the paths that we are destined to take.

There are long and short roads; smooth and rocky roads; crooked and straight paths. In our life, many roads would come our way as we journey through life. There are roads that lead to fame and fortune on one hand, or isolation and poverty on the other. There are roads to happiness as there are roads to sadness, roads towards victory and jubilation, and roads leading to defeat and disappointment.

Just like any road, there are corners, detours, and crossroads in life.

Perhaps the most perplexing road that you would encounter is a crossroad.

With four roads to choose from and with limited knowledge on where they would go, which road will you take? What is the guarantee that we would choose the right one along the way? Would you take any road, or just stay where you are in front of a crossroad?

There are no guarantees.

The end of the road is always sad as we miss the pleasure of the journey. Likewise, the death is always to be feared.

At the end, we all only left with sweet memories to remember and cherish.

It is one of the sayings I enjoy and use often “Life's a journey, enjoy the trip” I have found myself in some interesting places by accident, only to discover some amazing sights. Life is a journey full of lessons that may be shared and we learn and grow along the way.

From the moment we are born, we begin our new journey, life unfolds and we learn and explore.

Our greatest journey is one that explores within, being true to ourselves and facing fears.

Madilim na ang paligid nang nakalabas na si Rita mula sa eskwelahan. Naiisip niya palang ang kanyang ina na paniguradong nasa labas na ng bahay at may dalang pamalo ay natakot na siya. Mas natatakot pa siya sa mga salitang lalabas sa bibig ng kanyang ina kaysa sa daang kanyang tinatahak na kasingkulay ata ng pusa nilang si Muning, itim.

Naisip niyang lumiko nalang sa isang eskinita na daan para mas mabilis siyang makauwi sa bahay, at hindi na niya inisip pa ang ilan sa babala ng kanyang nanay araw-araw na huwag dadaan doon lalo pa’t kapag gabi. Hindi naman niya alam kung bakit.

“Inay.” Mahinang sambit ni Rita habang paatras siyang naglalakad ngunit lalo siyang natakot nang may nabangga sya sa kanyang likuran. Unti-unti ng nararamadaman ni Rita ang bawat marahas na haplos ng mga taong nakapaligid sa kanya.

Sa ating pagbabalik-tanaw ukol sa kasaysayan ng ating mausbong na industriya ng pagsasaka, makikita natin kung gaano katatag ang kaalaman ng mga ninuno nating mga magsasaka. Dito nga'y tayo pa ang nagturo sa mga karatig bansa natin noon kung paano ang sistema nito. Mga magsasakang henerasyon ng pinagsisilbihan ang bawat hapag kainan ng mga Pilipino.

Sa mabilis na paglipas ng panahon, marahil unti-unti na ding nawawala sa eksena ang pag-unlad ng industriya sa pagsasaka.

Tu n a y ngang malimit itong bigyang-pansin ng alinmang administrasyon. May pagkakataon man ngunit hindo rin naman ito na-aaksyunan.

Hindi nga ito makasabay sa mga naglalakihang programa at naglalawakang implikasyon nito. Kung ito ay ating ikukumpara sa mga programa sa pagsasaka ng mga gobyerno sa mga karating bansa. Ito lamang ay isa sa mga dahilan sa mabilis na pagbaba ng mga porsiento ng mga manggagawa at mga mamumuhunan sa sektor na ito.

Sa mga nakaraang balita na kung saan ipinapakita ang mga pagpupulong na ginagawa ng ating mga mambabatas, kasama ang kinatawan ng sektor na ito. Maririnig at malalaman na mayroong bagong batas ukol rito na totoo nga namang gumulantang sa bawat magsasakang Pilipino.

Naisabatas na nga ang bagong "Rice Tariffication". Ang batas na kung saan magtatanggal sa limistasyon sa pag-angkat ng bigas mula sa ibang bansa. Ito rin naman

ay magpapataw ng kaukulang buwis sa mga magsasaka na mag-angkat ng kanilang mga produkto sa mga ating karatig bansa. Ito nga raw ang naiisip na paraan ng ating Gobyerno upang masolusyonan ang malakawang kakulangan ng suplay ng bigas sa ating bansa.

"Sa tingin ko, ang batas na ito ay hindi solusyon sa kakulangan ng suplay ng bigas sa ating bansa.

Kundi ito ang talagang magpapahirap sa amin at sa aming mga kapwa lokal na magsasaka."diin ni Ginoong Godensyo Sembrano, Isang aktibong magsasaka na nakikipaglaban para sa mga karapatan ng kapwa nya magsasaka.

Sa kanyang palagay ay ito ang magiging dahilan ng mabilis na pagbagsak ng industriya sa pagsasaka sa ating bansa.

Tila ang mga dayuhang magsasaka lamang ang makikinabang sa panukalang ito dahik magkakaroon sila ng pagkakataon na mag-anggat ng kanilang mga produkto na hanggang sa kanilang kapasidad.

Dagdag pa nito, na tila isa itong panggigipit ng Gobyerno sakanila at sa iba na nagmamay-ari ng nga lupang sakahan. May mga pagkakataon umano na nais bilhin ng mga probadong kumpanya ang kanilang mga sakahan upang gawing Kom e r s y a l na imprastraktura.

Masyado nga raw silang ginigipit sa pamamagitan ng pagpapa-baba ng presyo ng mga lokal na bigas at pagtangkilik sa mga dayuhang produkto. Dahil umano rito, mawawalan ng kita at malulugi ang nga magsasaka, na hahantong sa pagbebenta ng kanilang mga lupa.

Pasigaw pa nga idiniin ng kasamahan ni Sembrano na "Pagsasaka ang kinagisnan naming trabaho. Ito ma nga rin ang naging trabaho ng aming pamilya. Dito kami kumukuha ng aming pamilya ng pera para sa mga iba't-ibang pangangailangan namin.

Saka hindi rin naman daw talaga nila kayang makapaghanap ng ibang paglakakitaan dahil karamihan sakanila ay elementarya lamang ang natapos.

Kung magbubukas naman daw sila ng kanilang sariling pangkabuhayan'y wala silang kapital para dito. Tanging ang pagsasaka lamang ang nakikita nilang paraan para mairaos ang kanil-

ang pamilya araw-araw.

Dagdag pa ni Sembrano, na ang Gobyerno pa nga dapat ang sumusuporta sa mga katulad nila.

Upang ang industriya ng pagsasaka sa ating bansa ay makasabay sa mga nagbibilisang pag-usbong ng industriya nito sa mga kalapit nating nga bansa. " Mga makabagong paraan ang dapat is aalang-alang ng aring gobyerno. Dito mapapabilis at mas mapapayabong pa nga raw nila ang sistema ng pagsasaka na meron tayo.

"Yung sakit at pagod namin bilang magsasaka ay hindi namin iniinda dahil lagi na namin itong nararamdaman, sanay na kami rito, ang nakakasakit ng loob eh yung presyo, napakababa. Noong hindi pa nga ganoon ang presyo at hirap na kaming makakain tatlong beses sa isang araw, ngayon pa kaya?" Pagtatapos ni Sembrano.

Sa isang umuunlad na ekonomiya, ang kita na nagmumula sa agrikultura ay nagiging daan para sa pagtaas ng kita ng isang magsasaka.

Dito nagkakaroon ng pagkakataon ang mga kababayan nating magsasaka hindi lamang upang makaraos sa pang araw-araw kundi upang kahit papano'y maka-ahon sa putik na kanilang kahapon.

Mga hapong pangangatawan, maghapong pagkakabilad sa araw at Araw-araw na pagbabanat ng buto. Ilan lamang yan sa mga marami pang pagsasakripisyo ng isang magsasaka. Ang maghapong pagkakatapak sa putik at magdamag na pag-indq kung gaano kasakit ang kanilang pangangatawan ay masasabing hindi pagmamalabis ng isang pagod na magsasaka.

History always tell us that Ferdinand Magellan is the one who discovered the Philippines, but the Philippine History did not start from Magellan at all, Filipinos tend to forget who we really are and where did we come from. To voice it out to you, it is the Negritos the one who created the portal of our history up to this date.

Globalization has made the country to push further up to its full extent.

As the “Tiger-Economy of Asia”, the Philippines is making an effort to reach global competitiveness. The administration is envisioned to build a smart, green, and sustainable city [New Clark City] as part of the “Build, build, build” program.

Behind this on-going project, the Hungey “old blood” Tribe of Capas, Tarlac remain standing strong and firm upon fighting for their rights to protect their ancestral domains. Believing that they surpassed two world wars, martial law era, and the massive explosion of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991, and the land was still there, giv-

ing them ways to live from tilling and cultivating the fields that provide income to suffice their needs.

They worry about the present situation of their mountains nowadays because they were being blasted and trees were cleared and being converted into commercial and leisure purposes like golf course and resorts. The tribe chieftain, Petronila Capiz Munoz and her fellow tribespeople are strongly affected by this construction including the New Clark City project.

Her insights about the New Clark City is to develop the area within their 18,000 hectares ancestral domain, BUT the development may cause them to move vulnerably. They dont want to be controlled by the others and lose their authorization and rights to live on their respective ancestral domain.

In addition, she told that the nature of the Aeta people is found on the highlands.

Their culture is linked with the mountainous

slopes and sprawling rivers.

They learned to live and survive a long time ago up to this time with that kind of surroundings.

Also, Munoz stressed that the construction of the New Clark City will not benefit the tribe for the reason that majority of them are illiterate. She said that back from their time, instead of going to school, they prefer to strive and work from their lands to earn a living. She also shared that you need to cross two mountains and several rivers to reach the nearest school [O’ Donnel].

“Eku buring akit kula reng abe kung makipamalis no mu king gabun a asasakupan da”, she added. She does not want to reach to the point that the she will see an Aeta people who sweeps the sidewalk whose land once became

their part of their lives.

“Ing kwalta saguli mu, pero ing gabun angga-angga”, she believes that wealth is temporary but the lands will never fade. One of the tribespeople were offered to sell their land but refused it because of the same perspective. “Tau kami mu rin ot para ikami era ke galangan, nung nanu ing panamdaman da, panamdaman mi murin”, she concluded.

She shared the dilemma of unfair treatment of people towards them wherein in reality, we are all the same.

What more if the city was built?

In order to resolve this outgrowing issue, the Hungey tribe together with the officials of Bases Conversions Development Authority (BCDA) and National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) held a meeting regarding the securing of Certificates of Ancestral Domain Titles (CADT) of the Aetas to prove their ownership of the land.

According to Chairman Casimira Maniego, the Hungey tribe had ap-

plied CADT for their 18,000 hectares of ancestral land thrice, they had been filing since 1999, and 2014 for their second application, the recent one was on last May, 2019. In this case, the tribe filed a complaint against the NCIP officials last 2018 concerning their first CADT application and nothing happened.

In line with the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act of 1997, the tribe is pushing an effort to have a conversation about the Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) which will serve as their protection against exploration, development, exploitation, and utilization of natural resources within the ancestral land. The FPIC also helps to prevent the tribe from displacement.

The New Clark City seeks to create a huge step for the Philippines to attract more investors, in that way it will boost the economy of our nation. But if the development goes further and further until it conquers the whole affected community, how would their life could be?
