Outdoor mask rules may be lifted this week
in many parts of Spain, the obligatory use of a mask outdoors will no longer be mandatory from thursday onwards, reports indicate. Spain’s Council of Ministers is set to meet today (tuesday) to approve a royal decree which would
effectively come into force two days later (thursday 10th February). the decree also increases the maximum capacity of indoor sports events and soccer stadiums. While it is expected that starting
on thursday, the use of the mask will no longer be mandatory outdoors, it will continue to be a requirement at so called ‘mass events’ which are held outdoors and at which standing attendees cannot maintain a 1.5 metre
distance. according to the proposal that the Minister of health, Carolina darias, submitted to the interterritorial Council for approval, while the mask will not be mandatory outdoors, it will
