Coronavirus Special Edition: Everything you need to know On 14th March, the Spanish government introduced a State of Emergency, which imposes significant restrictions on movement throughout
Spain in response to the Coronavirus outbreak. These restrictions came into force yesterday morning (16th March) at 8.00am and followed the closure of bars, restaurants, cafes and leisure
facilities on Friday from midnight. From now transport services will be operating at reduced levels. Public gatherings are banned, most shops, many businesses and all schools and universities are closed, and residents have been instructed to remain at home as much as possible. Public spaces, parks and beaches are also off limits. There are limited, specific exceptions to the requirement to remain at home, in particular in order to: buy food or other essential items, to return home to the primary residence, to go to work if unable to work from home and to carry out caring or similar duties for the ill or
elderly, to attend medical appointments or visit the chemist. As always the Costa Blanca People continues to be the leading source of news and information for the local communities of the southern Costa Blanca. In this edition you will find clear and correct information on Coronavirus; the latest news on what you can and can’t do under the new restrictions and how long they are likely to last. There is also pull out and keep type guide covering: what is Coronavirus, how is it spread, what are the signs and symptoms, how to minimise your risk and what to do if you think you have the virus.
