240 suspected Coronavirus cases rejected Health officials in the Valencian Community have rejected 240 suspected cases of Coronavirus (Covid19) while the confirmed cases in the region (15 at the time of going to print) are all said to be mild. Spain as a whole has 115 confirmed cases including four new confirmed cases announced on

Monday in Cataluña and Castilla-La Mancha. The Alicante province (as this week’s edition of the Costa Blanca People went to print) currently does not have any confirmed cases and the emergency hotline established by the Ministry of

Health to handle calls from concerned residents has handled around 2100 enquiries. It has been a full week since the first confirmed case of coronavirus was detected in the Valencian community last Tuesday. Currently 15 people in the Valencian region have the virus, several of them remain in isolation in their own homes and some in hospitals around the region. None, currently, in the Alicante province. According to Department of Health all of those currently confirmed as having the virus are displaying mild symptoms and 240 additional people tested have been found not to have the virus. The health department has set up a helpline - 900 300 555 – for all of those who may have travelled to high risk areas and have concerns since returning to Spain. The hotline has handled over 2000 calls and officials say that more

than half of these have been inquiries from people wanting general information. A smaller portion of the calls have been consultations from people displaying potentially worrying symptoms and who needed reassurance on next steps. A website, www.san.gva.es/coronavirus has also been established with the latest up to date news on the spread of the virus.
