Emergency accommodation sought for Ukrainian refugees
the Ukrainian association of torrevieja has launched an appeal for people in the torrevieja area, and further afield in the alicante province, who can provide temporary emergency accommodation and help to Ukrainian
refugees fleeing the war; mostly women and children. anyone who can help is asked to contact the group with details of what help you are able to provide. if you can provide accommodation please
specify how many people you can accommodate and for how long. the group’s office on calle Pedro Lorca 138 in torrevieja is compiling a database of emergency accommodation and can be contacted by calling into the office (between 10am and 8pm) or via Facebook at @ucranianos.detorrevieja or by sending a message to albina (who speaks english) on 654607760. Please be aware that the phone lines are very busy so your patience is appreciated. the association is also sending aid directly to Ukraine and is taking donations of a number of items including food, medication and items that will be used by those defending Ukraine including camouflage clothing, military boots, any army surplus items, fingerless gloves, binoculars, night vision goggles, knee pads and warm undergarments.
For families currently arriving in torrevieja, the most urgent items needed are food (milk, pasta, etc) as well as nappies and warm blankets. again, these items can be brought to the Ukrainian association headquarters in torrevieja.
