OPT IN TO RECEIVE SCHOOL MESSENGER TEXTS Our district now has a text option for receiving information via School Messenger. Employees who have not previously indicated agreement to receive information via text may opt in by texting 67587 with message that has “Y” or “Yes” to opt in for receiving messages.

Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez is among five public school administrators from across Texas who were selected as state finalists for the annual Superintendent of the Year (SOTY) award.

“This honor truly reflects the collaborative nature of our district family,” Hernandez said. “All along, my goal has been to strengthen the bond between our school board, our staff and our families to achieve Corpus Christi ISD’s primary goal: providing a high-quality, public school education to every student. The progress we are making is extraordinary, and it is my honor to lead the effort.”

The 2020 Superintendent of the Year will be announced at the Texas Association of School Administrators/TASB Convention, which will be a virtual event held September 30 - October 2. We are #CCISDproud of our Superintendent!

H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards Applications Open

Following the expiration of the local public health order on Sept. 7, our schools will begin welcoming students back in phases. Starting with small groups helps maximize safety as well as gives staff and students an opportunity to become accustomed to a new environment.

These last few months have shown the strength, adaptability, and dedication our teachers have when faced with the unique challenge to continue educating amidst a global pandemic.

Device Cleaning Guidelines In the ongoing efforts to help maintain a healthy environment for everyone. Here are guidelines for cleaning high-touch, external surfaces on electronic devices.

Spray bottles provided to all teachers will contain a 70% alcohol solution, as recommended by the CDC. If possible, wear disposable gloves made of latex when cleaning surfaces. The liquid sanitizer solution can be sprayed directly on desks and tables and wiped clean with a cloth.

For Electronic Devices

Today, Sept. 8, 25% of students who previously indicated a desire to return to physical classrooms will return to school. On Monday, September 21, 50% of students will return. The remaining students who indicated a preference for in-person instruction will be permitted to return on Monday, Oct. 5.

Throughout this process, CCISD will continue to closely monitor the local public health situation and quickly inform staff, families and students of any changes. CCISD will continue to offer remote instruction throughout the 2020-2021 school year to those who prefer it.

Self-Care Tips

The Office of Guidance and Counseling is sharing tips in the video below for teachers and staff on how to practice self-care.

Chromebooks/ laptops - completely wipe down the entire Chromebook/ laptop, including the screen and around each key of the keyboard. Use a small amount of pressure to remove any fingerprints or smudges on the screen, but not too much since this could damage the display. iPads - gently wipe both sides of the iPad. Avoid getting moisture in any opening, and do not submerge the iPad in any cleaning agents.

Keyboards - wipe the top and around each key and the edges of the keyboard.

Mice – gently rub away any dirt or visible grime.

Remember taking care of yourself is the best gift you can give to your students and staff. The list of tips is also available to print here.

Always turn off the device. Moisten a cloth with the liquid sanitizer. Do not spray liquids directly onto iPads, Chromebooks, keyboards or mice.

Ensure surfaces have completely airdried before turning on the device.

Discard gloves and wash hands thoroughly after each cleaning.
