TODAY IS SCHOOL LUNCH HERO DAY! Between preparing healthy meals for our students, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, our Food Services department are true heroes.

Today, we celebrate the 8th Annual School Lunch Hero Day! Thank you to the Food Services central office staff, kitchen staff, warehouse staff and truck drivers.

Each and every one of them have been working diligently and differently to be sure that the children of the Corpus Christi community can be served meals.

HELP US WELCOME TWO NEW DISTRICT LEADERS! SONIA ZYLA Please to welcome Sonia Zyla as Sr. Director of the Office of Assessment and Accountability.

You may reach her at sonia.zyla@ccisd.us or 44265, as her office line has been forwarded to her remote workplace.

Familiar to many in our district, Ms. Zyla comes to us from the Education Service Center, Region 2, where she served as School Improvement Specialist. She also has experience with ESC2 as a special education specialist. Her 17-year career includes many years with Carrizo Springs CISD, including serving as principal as well as director of federal programs and grants. She holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Sul Ross State University.

We look forward to welcoming Ms. Zyla properly when we are back together! In the meantime, we are glad to have her on board remotely to help district business continue.

AMANDA CAMERON Join us in congratulating Amanda Cameron as Corpus Christi ISD’s Title 1 Director. She will begin her new position on June 1.

Mrs. Cameron previously served as principal of George Evans Elementary School, a campus she has led since 2015. She first came to Evans as a teacher in 2006. She gained experience as an assistant principal at Menger Elementary School before returning to Evans in 2011 as an AP. While we know the Mustangs will miss her, we are delighted to have her leadership and experience at the district level.

Mrs. Cameron holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University College Station and a master’s degree from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi.

CONGRATULATIONS TO CORPUS CHRISTI UNDER 40 AWARD WINNERS FROM CCISD! Each year, Corpus Christi Under 40 recognizes individuals under the age of 40 who are excelling in their field but who also find the time to give back to our community! We are excited to share that three of our CCISD team members have been recognized as CCU40 award winners! Please join us in congratulating Rachel Neff from Cunningham Middle School at South Park, Devin Davis from Mary Carroll High School and Haley Haaker from J.A. Garcia Elementary School. During these anxious times, we all appreciate a little extra kindness. If a coworker chooses to share health information, it’s certainly a good idea to support them while following CDC guidelines.
