What to expect after receiving the vaccine for COVID-19?

The COVID-19 vaccination will help protect you from getting the virus that causes COVID-19. Having side effects following the vaccination is a normal sign that your body is building up the protection. Side effects should go away in a few days.

Here are some common side effects that you may experience: • Pain or swelling in the arm where you received the vaccine.

• Fever • Chills • Tiredness • Headache To reduce pain or discomfort at the injection site, move and exercise the arm where you received the injection.

You can also apply a cool wet washcloth over the area.

To reduce discomfort from fever, drink plenty of fluids.

You can also speak with your doctor about taking an over-thecounter medication like ibuprofen or acetaminophen.

Although severe allergic reactions to the vaccine are rare, they have occurred. If you believe that you are having a severe allergic reaction to the vaccine, you should contact 911 and seek medical care immediately.

Experts recommend focusing on several simple concepts to improve relationships with your children. We all know life is complicated and even the most simple guidelines can become difficult to follow through with. That’s why it is important to establish routines in your family so there is an element of predictability that can be used as a foundation to build stronger relationships. These routines vary from family to family, but often are centered around meals, kids’ activities, nighttime routines, free time on weekends and/or spiritual gatherings. During these routines, be sure to focus on things your child is interested in: ask questions about their activities and friends, make an effort to learn more about one of their hobbies and have everyone put their devices away during these times. If finding a routine is new for your family, it will take time for this to feel natural, but if you stay consistent it will become something that helps you nurture your relationships at home.

2021 Teacher Fellowship Award Do you need Professional Development Training for PreAP or AP this summer?

The CCISD Teacher Fellowship Award was established to recognize and reward educators who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence and professional development. The award funds registration and some travel expenses for CCISD teachers to attend College Board approved professional development course(s) in Pre-AP or AP at summer institutes or seminars in Texas.

Awards vary in value depending on specific requests, up to approximately $1,500.

CCISD Early Notice Incentive For the tenth year, CCISD will be offering professional contract employees (teachers and administrators) an Early Notice Incentive. This year’s incentive will be extended to all teachers and administrators who have at least ten (10) total years of experience (outside CCISD as well).

Employees who meet the criteria and who notify the District by March 22, 2021, of their intentions to resign at the end of the 2020-2021 school year will qualify.
