Coordinating our first outdoor graduation ceremonies since 1991 has been a true collaborative effort across the district. COVID-19 PREVENTION INFORMATION FROM CDC There is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID‑19. The best way to prevent infection is to take steps to avoid exposure to this virus.

DSHS recommends these everyday actions to help prevent the spread of any respiratory virus, including COVID‑19: • Wash hands often for 20 seconds and encourage others to do the same.

• If no soap and water are available, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

• Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue away.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

• Disinfect surfaces, buttons, handles, knobs, and other places touched often.

• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

DSHS also recommends that you practice social distancing. Social distancing involves staying away from other people to avoid catching or spreading illness. It’s a fancy term for avoiding crowds and minimizing physical contact. This could mean avoiding concerts or weddings, skipping the handshake, and/or staying at least six feet away from others.

Additionally, the CDC recommends using simple cloth face coverings in public to help slow the spread of the virus:

PANDEMIC ELECTRONIC BENEFIT TRANSFER (P-EBT) INFORMATION Due to school closures related to COVID-19, Texas received approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to provide more than $1 billion in pandemic food benefits to families with children who have temporarily lost access to free or reduced-price school meals.

Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer provides eligible families with a one-time payment for each child who previously received free or reduced-price meals. P-EBT works the same way Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits do, and will help families get the food they need during the pandemic. P-EBT will be administered by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, Texas Department of Agriculture and Texas Education Agency.

REMINDER - BIOMETRICS SCREENING FORM In order to continue the monthly discount of $60 per month for the health plan year of 2021, employees and spouses covered by the district’s health insurance plan will need to complete and submit the Biometrics Screening Form by October 31, 2020. The form can be found here. Employees can also call RediMD at 1-866-989-2873 to complete this task. For questions, email insurance@ccisd.us or call Human Resources at 361-695-7250.

FRIENDLY REMINDER

Please respect your co-workers’ privacy. It’s the right thing to do, and it’s the law! Please do not share health information, and definitely do not share rumors about positive COVID-19 tests. During these anxious times, we all appreciate a little extra kindness. If a coworker chooses to share health information, it’s certainly a good idea to support them while following CDC guidelines. Thank you!
