SUMMER BREAK

Thank you to all district staff who played a vital role in the success of this year’s graduation ceremonies. From assisting graduates and welcoming families to helping with backstage prep, employees across the district came together to support this important milestone for students.

Their support, teamwork and dedication helped create a seamless and memorable experience for graduates and their families.

ATHLETICS Beginning July 1, all CCISD athletic events will transition to online ticketing.

Fans can purchase tickes by scanning QR codes at each venue, ahead of time online through the CCISD Athetics website or through the HomeTown Fan app on your smartphone.

We’ve already shared stories like a mother-daughter teaching duo at Rose Shaw Elementary, a Solomon M. Coles High School teacher featured in The Bend Magazine, and a Mary Carroll High School student who saved a life using CPR. We know there’s so much more to tell! As the 2025–2026 school year comes to a close, Corpus Christi ISD has much to celebrate.

We were proud to celebrate the Board of Trustees being named the 2026 H-E-B Excellence in Education Outstanding School Board, highlighting the board’s leadership and commitment to student success.

We also celebrated several educators this year. Dr. Christina Barrera, principal of Menger Elementary School, was named the 2026 National Distinguished Principal for Texas, and Carroll High School special education teacher Deanna Evans was recognized as an H-E-B Excellence in Education finalist.

The district celebrated the renovated auditorium at Miller High School, several library reveals and the new Lexington and Hamlin Middle School.

The Corpus Christi Education Foundation also awarded more than $169,500 in grants to educators, helping fund innovative classroom projects and educational opportunities.

Thank you to CCISD staff and families for helping make this school year successful. CCISD is the place to be!

District announces new leaders for elementary schools

As CCISD plans for the upcoming school year, the district will keep the community updated regarding new leadership assignments.

The district recently announced two principal assignments, both at district elementary schools. Schools that will welcome new leaders are: Mary Helen Berlanga Elementary School: Amanda Vasquez-Kotch, who previously served as principal of Stanley Kostoryz Elementary School, will return to Berlanga to lead the school where her CCISD career began. She has also served as a teacher, instructional coach and assistant principal at Kostoryz.

Zachary Kolda Elementary School: Mellissa Clearman, who has served as principal of Mary Helen Berlanga Elementary School since 2021 and whose previous experience includes service as an assistant principal at Foy H. Moody High School and at Dorothy Adkins Middle School.

“We are grateful to these two exemplary leaders for their enthusiastic willingness to serve our district,” said Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez. “Through our partnership with The Holdsworth Center, we have grown in our ability to make strategic placements to ensure the continued success of our district.”
