HELP SLOW THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 BY WEARING YOUR MASK COVID-19 spreads mainly from person to person through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, talks, or raises their voice (e.g., while shouting, chanting, or singing). These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

Recent studies show that a significant portion of individuals with COVID-19 lack symptoms (are “asymptomatic”) and that even those who eventually develop symptoms (are “pre-symptomatic”) can transmit the virus to others before showing symptoms.

To reduce the spread of COVID-19, CDC recommends that people wear cloth face coverings in public settings when around people outside of their household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.

WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO WEAR A CLOTH FACE COVERING Cloth face coverings may help prevent people who have COVID-19 from spreading the virus to others. Wearing a cloth face covering will help protect people around you, including those at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19 and workers who frequently come into close contact with other people (e.g., in stores and restaurants).

Cloth face coverings are most likely to reduce the spread of COVID-19 when they are widely used by people in public settings. The spread of COVID-19 can be reduced when cloth face coverings are used along with other preventive measures, including social distancing, frequent handwashing, and cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces. MORE INFORMATION AND RESOURCES WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM CONFIRMED TO HAVE COVID-19?

Employees are asked to immediately notify their campus/department administrator of a positive test result. The district will work closely with the Nueces County Health Department to determine the appropriate notification of others who may have potentially been exposed to the virus. If an employee has been exposed to the virus, the employee will be sent home for a period of 14 days in adherence with health officials’ guidance for helping prevent the spread of the illness. The district will provide up to two weeks (80 hours) of emergency paid sick leave to full-time employees who are unable to work or telework due to a need for leave due to a COVID-19 related reason, in accordance with the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). In addition, employees are asked to submit the COVID-19 survey that is currently posted on the district’s Human Resources website.

REMINDER BIOMETRICS SCREENING FORM In order to continue the monthly discount of $60 per month for the health plan year of 2021, employees and spouses covered by the district’s health insurance plan will need to complete and submit the Biometrics Screening Form by October 31, 2020. The form can be found in the Forms folder at https://www.ccisd.us/ HumanResources/EmployeeBenefits. Employees can also call RediMD at 1-866-989-2873 to complete this task.
