More than 130 district staff and volunteers spent Sept. 17 visiting more than 200 homes across the city to connect out-of-school youth with educational opportunities. The event is coordinated by the Office of Admissions, Attendance and Student Support.

MEET TERESA FLORES! It is Teresa’s first year with CCISD! She teaches first grade at William B. Travis Elementary School.

When she’s not in the classroom, Teresa enjoys traveling, spending time with her children and watching shows on Netflix.

“I aspire to have a classroom where everyone feels welcome. I want all of the students to know how important they are, and that they are all capable of succeeding.”

H-E-B Flu and vaccination clinic H-E-B will be in our district through Friday, Oct. 28, to provide flu shots and other vaccines.

Employees and spouses enrolled in the district’s group health plan with Aetna may receive the flu shot, pneumonia vaccine, shingles, tetanus booster and the COVID-19 booster from H-E-B at no cost.

Bring your Aetna ID card and a completed Vaccine Consent Form to the flu/vaccine clinic.

CCEF Grants for World-Class Schools application is open The Corpus Christi Education Foundation is now accepting applications for 2022-2023 Grants for World-Class Schools. This is an opportunity for district teachers and administrators to apply for grants to fund innovative programs and projects that support higher levels of student learning.

There are funding opportunities of up to $2,500.

Applications are available online here. Please read the entire application carefully. The deadline to submit applications is 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

Congratulations, August Above the Line Winners!

Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez recently announced the August 2022 Above the Line employees. Three honorees were surprised at their work locations with the announcement they had been selected. Nominations are always open for Above the Line employee recognitions.

Alfred Molina, Lead Custodian at Carl O. Hamlin Middle School Alfred takes great pride in Hamlin Middle School. Each morning, Alfred stands by the front doors and greets students. He is the “go-to” person on our campus. He keeps the school organized and taken care of, which allows us to put students first. Together, as a Hamlin family, we succeed through his contributions.

Delma Bernal, Director of Admissions, Attendance, and Student Support Services Every interaction with Ms. Bernal is an extremely positive and encouraging exchange.

She has targeted each campus to support their needs quickly and with efficiency. She recently started district recognitions for students who had perfect attendance. It has really helped students shine and encourages others to seek the same recognition. She is truly a collaborative leader with a deep belief in teamwork.

Jennifer Martinez, 3rd grade teacher at Mary Helen Berlanga Elementary School Jennifer always puts the needs of her students first. She ensures students have the tools they need to be successful. If a student is unable to be in dress code because of family financial situations, she will donate clothes to the family. She has created a comfortable and trusting environment for her students. Her students know they are supported and encouraged to do their best.

Clinic hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

Appointments may be scheduled online here. Walk-in appointments will be based on availability. Parent authorization is required for all students under 18 years of age.
