Since Aug. 16, the district’s Food Services team has served more than 12,000 meals during the Supper Program.

Meals are served at 32 campuses across the district. About 1,000 meals are served daily, with participation continuing to increase.

District leaders invited to participate in Holdsworth Center leadership program

Meet the teacher

CCISD is among the first 15 districts across the state invited to take part in the Holdsworth leadership program at no cost. The Holdsworth Center is an Austin-based nonprofit founded by the Chairman of H-E-B in 2017.

The leadership program is designed to help district leaders create systems that ensure a strong pool of aspiring principals who are truly ready to step into the role when a position arises.

It is Justine’s first year teaching with CCISD. She teaches 7th grade English at Marvin Baker Middle School.

Over the 18-month program, Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez, Deputy Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Kimberley James and Chief Officer of School Improvement and Innovation Dr. Sandra Clement will attend periodic learning sessions.

They will learn best practices from organizations inside and outside of education that have built highperforming talent management systems, then work to define what great leadership looks like in CCISD.

Corpus Christi Education Foundation opens educator grant applications The Corpus Christi Education Foundation is accepting applications for the 20212022 Grants for World-Class Schools. The grant helps teachers and administrators fund innovative programs and projects that support higher levels of student learning. Grants of up to $2,500 are available. Applications are due by 4:30 p.m.

September 22 and must be submitted here.

CORPUS CHRISTI INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

Annual flu and other vaccines clinics for employees and spouses H-E-B will be in the district starting Sept. 20 through Friday, Oct. 29 to provide flu shots and other vaccines. There will be a clinic at each district propery location. Click here for a schedule and locations.

Employees and spouses enrolled in the district’s group health plan with BlueCross BlueShield may receive the flu shot, the pneumonia vaccine and the tetnaus booster from H-E-B at no cost. H-E-B will also provide the first dose of the two-dose series of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and will provide a vaccination card following the vaccine. There is no fee for anyone to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at any location.

Please bring your Express Scripts prescription card and the a completed Vaccine Consent Form to the flu/vaccine clinic. The form also provides a complete list of vaccines available at the H-E-B locations. Click here for a Vaccine Information Sheet.

If you do not have your Express Scripts ID Card you can register online, call 877-285-1374 or register using the Express Scripts mobile app.

Update contact information in district portal Is your contact information up to date?

The best way to ensure information is accurate is to check your employee account in the district’s portal. This will ensure you receive important updates.

To update contact information: •Visit portal.ccisd.us •Click on Pay Stub/Address Change under the Employee Online/Paystub tab •Click on Personal Information under the Personal Information tab •Click on Phone Numbers and make corrections as needed •Click the save icon on the top right corner Staff who do not have access to a computer should contact Human Resources at 361-695-7250.

September is Suicide Awareness Month There are many myths associated with suicide. Here are some facts to keep in mind.

•Asking someone if they are thinking about hurting themselves is an important prevention measure. It opens the door to a supportive conversation, and makes it OK to ask for help.

•Many people who experience suicidal thoughts may also have high anxiety. Be sure to check in on those who tend to feel anxious and are experiencing more stressors.

•Warning signs for suicide include reckless behavior, substance abuse and expressing hopelessness.

The 14th Annual State of the District will be October 27, 2021. The Hearts & Minds Showcase will be from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and the presentation will begin at 11:45 a.m.
