District hosts region superintendents, leaders
Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez hosted Education Service Center, Region 2, superintendents for lunch and conversation.

H-E-B’s immunization clinic will run through Friday, Sept. 29. H-E-B will provide flu shots and other vaccines.
Employees and spouses enrolled in the district’s group health plan with Aetna may receive the flu shot, the pneumonia vaccine, shingles vaccine, tetanus booster and the COVID-19 booster from H-E-B at no cost.
Bring your Aetna ID card and a completed vaccine consent form to the flu/vaccine clinic. If you do not have your Aetna ID card, register on www.Aetna.com or call 1-888-2201017.
Cost for vaccines for employees who do not have the district’s group health plan:
• Flu shot- $29.99
• Monovalent (COVID-19) vaccine - Price to be determined.
• Pneumovax 23 vaccine$127.60
• Tetanus Booster* (Boostrix)$57.15
• Shingrix Shingles - $218.02 (1 dose - 2 dose series)
*The tetanus booster includes the vaccine that protects from pertussis (whooping cough).

Mayor recognizes district teachers, staff
Mayor Paulette Guajardo and City Councilmembers recognized recognized district teachers as Teacher of the Month for August and September. In August, Haas MIddle School teacher Gloria Everett was recognized.
Ms. Everett is a Capturing Kids’ Hearts Process Team Member. Her classroom is a model for the districtwide program.
In early September, W.B. Ray High School teacher Keli Hinojosa was recognized. Mrs. Hinojosa created the Skateboarding Club to support her students’ growing interests.

The Council also recently recognized the district K.E.Y.S. Team for their work in getting students reconnected with educational opportunities.
