EMPLOYEE GIVING 2020-2021: • More than $140,000 in classroom/school grants awarded to CCISD campuses.

The Employee Giving Campaign is underway!

The Corpus Christi Education Foundation serves and supports CCISD students and educators by funding scholarships for students, awarding annual grants to classrooms and by recognizing teaching excellence in CCISD. Every dollar donated to support the foundation stays in CCISD. The annual Employee Giving Campaign is an opportunity for CCISD employees to help employees and students. Donate today to be entered into a drawing for a chance to win iPads and CCEF swag. Participation is always voluntary. Deadline to return form is November 3, 2021.

• More than $38,000 in scholarships awarded to students.

• More than $2,500 in dual-credit scholarships awarded to CCISD students.

SHOW YOUR SCHOOL SPIRIT

The elementary, middle school and high school with the highest totals will receive a banner to display at their campus and receive board recognition.

Employees are never expected nor required to make a contribution.

Participation is strictly voluntary. If you choose to participate, please print, complete and sign the one-page Employee Giving Donation Form.

Congratulations, Above the Line winners Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez recently announced the September 2021 Above the Line employees. Three honorees were surprised at their work locations with the announcement they had been selected.

Certified/professional - Corina Casarez, 4th grade teacher, Meadowbrook Elementary School If anyone needs help with anything, she is the person to call. She is always willing to go above and beyond for a student, fellow teacher or parent. Corina is always finding new learning strategies and learning games to incorporate in students’ learning process.

Meet Erica Huerta!

It is Erica’s first year with CCISD! She teaches 5th grade at Rafael Galvan Elementary School.

Erica enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling and antique shopping.

“I’ve wanted to become a teacher since I was a little girl. I love working with children and have true passion for teaching children foundational skills they need to succeed in school and in life.”

She is willing to offer a variety of ways a problem can be solved. She empowers teachers and reminds them we are all here for the students.

She is unmatched when it comes to her energy and “can do” attitude.

Auxiliary - Michael Llanos, Head Custodian, David Crockett Elementary School Michael plays a huge role in protecting the health of our campus. He also plays an important role in student success. He sees and values every student. He often reminds students about the importance of school attendance. He builds relationships that set a positive tone.

Navigator Walk promotes positives in community

COVID-19 testing for CCISD students and staff

The inaugural Dr. J.A. Garcia Elementary Navigator Walk kicked off Oct. 16. The walk promoted Garcia Elementary, Cunningham Middle School at South Park and Foy H. Moody High School.

CCISD is offering testing clinics for CCISD students and employees.

Testing is always voluntary. To help us schedule, referrals from the school nurse or Employee Benefits are encouraged, but not required.

Cheerleaders, bands and drill teams brought the pep on the walk near the elementary school. The American GI Forum Beatrice T. Perez Robstown Women’s Chapter also announced eight essay contest winners. Each winner received a Chromebook.

Walk-in testing is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Students under 18 will need a parent present to sign a consent form.

National Board Certification information meetings CCISD will support 25 teachers through the National Board Certification process.

National Board Certification is designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools. There will be two information meetings before the launch of the Cohort 2 application.

Annual flu and other vaccines clinics for employees and spouses H-E-B will be in the district through Friday, Oct. 29, to provide flu shots and other vaccines. There will be a clinic at each district property location. Click here for a schedule and locations.

Employees and spouses enrolled in the district’s group health plan with BlueCross BlueShield may receive the flu shot, the pneumonia vaccine and the tetanus booster from H-E-B at no cost. H-E-B will also provide the first dose of the two-dose series of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and will provide a vaccination card following the vaccine. to the flu/vaccine clinic.

Please bring your Express Scripts prescription card and the a completed Vaccine Consent Form
