CCISD police officers lead Red Ribbon Week Parade

CCISD Police and local law enforcement could be seen all over the city with their red and blue lights flashing. The group made their way to every district elementary school for the Red Ribbon Week Parade.

Mayor honors Zavala Elementary School educator as October Teacher of the Month Listen to the Getting to the Core podcast

Mayor Paulette Guajardo and City Council members honored Dora Martinez, 4th grade teacher at Zavala Elementary School, as October’s Teacher of the Month.

Ms. Martinez has been at Zavala Elementary for 15 years.

Zavala Elementary Principal, Judith Hinojosa said Ms. Martinez is a lifelong learner and is always seeking new ways to help her students be successful.

Ms. Martinez was presented with a commendation letter from City Council and a gift card.

Open enrollment is here! The Office of Employee Benefits is looking forward to assisting with 2024 insurance benefits needs during open enrollment. The open enrollment period is from Oct. 16 to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 2.

Every employee must log in to the enrollment system to review the acknowledgements, then elect or waive insurance benefits as applicable. The benefit enrollment form can be completed online. At the login page, use your regular network username and password.

Teachers of Tomorrow scholarship information Teachers of Tomorrow wants to award 20 aspiring teachers with the New Teacher Scholarship to help them become certified educators.

Recipients of each scholarship will have their Teachers of Tomorrow program fee covered.

The deadline to apply is Oct. 31, 2023. Apply online at Teachersoftomorrow.org.
