ACADEMIC CALENDAR OPTIONS SURVEY

Each year, the district develops draft academic calendar options to be considered for the year ahead. It is important that we receive feedback from you during this process. We are asking you to respond to a short survey providing input as the district develops draft calendar options for the 2022-23 academic year.

CCISD’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Family Counseling Services: 852-7415.

CCISD students from across the district expressed their appreciation for healthcare workers by making thank you letters and cards for hospital staff at Christus Spohn Hospital.

The cards will be displayed at Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline and South.

“Our students’ cards express so beautifully our appreciation for the dedication, compassion and care your staff has shown,” Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez said during an Oct. 28 ceremony. “While challenges remain, today is a beautiful example of how taking the time to appreciate one another helps us all persevere in difficult times as well as collectively appreciate and celebrate our joys and successes.”

Every dollar donated supports the Corpus Christi Education Foundation. The Foundation serves and supportrs CCISD students and educators by funding scholarships for students, awarding annual grants to classrooms and by recognizing teaching excellence in CCISD.

Meet Savannah Sidor!

It’s Savannah’s first year with CCISD. She is a Theatre Arts teacher at Miller/Metro Prep.

She enjoys reading, theatre and spending time with family.

Savannah enjoys seeing students come out of their shell and grow as people.

George Evans Elementary teacher featured for using Marathon Kids George Evans Elementary School coach Raul Munoz was featured

by Marathon Kids for implementing a program in students’ physical education.

This year, he began using Marathon Kids Connect for Districts, a cloudbased physical activity tracking and reporting platform.

“Prior to Marathon Kids, I only had a handful of motivated runners in each grade level,” Munoz said. “Students have become more competitive and eager to run.”

He said the program’s ability to track students’ miles has prompted students to run extra laps. Munoz also gave credit to the entire campus.

Teachers encourage and motivate students about physical activity, he said.

Windsor Park Elementary ranked No. 2 elementary campus in state

COVID-19 vaccines

U.S. News and World Report ranked Windsor Park No. 2 in “Texas Elementary Schools.”

Windsor Park received an overall score of 99.98 out of 100. They received a #2 ranking in reading proficiency and tied for #1 in math proficiency. Read more about the ranking here.

CCISD encourages everyone age 5 and older to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The campus was also named the Caller-Times “Best of the Best” public school. Congratulations to Roy Miller High School, a “Best of the Best” finalist!

COVID-19 testing for students and staff CCISD is offering testing clinics for CCISD students and employees.

Testing is always voluntary. Walk-in testing is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Students under 18 will need a parent present to sign a consent form.

Burlington and AdoptAClassroom.org donated $5,000 to Weldon A. Smith Elementary School ahead of the new store opening.

National Board Certification information

H-E-B Excellence in Education awards

CCISD will support 25 teachers through the National Board Certification process. National Board Certification is designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools. There will be two information meetings before the launch of the Cohort 2 application. Click the date below for more information.

H-E-B Excellence in Education Award applications are open through Dec. 6, 2021.
