The Office of Homeless Services Kids Closet Listen to the Getting to the Core podcast

Kids Closet The CCISD Office of Homeless Services is in need of items to support our students who, for various reasons, may not be in the physical custody or support of a parent or guardian. The Kids Closet is an opportunity to provide much-needed toiletries throughout the year. As part of the holiday giving project, the Administration Building will be collecting items for the Kids Closet.

Many of these school-aged children move from place to place and view our schools as their only safe and stable environment. Additionally, they lack the financial means for everyday items such as toothbrush, shampoo, deodorant and other personal hygiene necessities. The goal is to stock the Kids Closet to provide for these students when needed.

Large wrapped boxes are placed on the first floor, mezzanine and basement levels of the Administration Building as collection points. Collection will begin on Monday, November 13, and continue through Monday, December 18 . While you are out and about shopping this holiday, remember the Kids Closet supporting the unaccompanied youth of CCISD.

Below are suggested items needed for the Kids Closet: • Jackets (new or gently used) • Blue jeans (new or gently used)

• Shaving products (razors, shaving cream) • Dental hygiene (toothbrush, toothpaste,

• Sneakers (new or gently used) • Underwear (new) • Socks (new)

Additionally, the Office of Homeless Services is collecting gift cards to local pharmacies (Walmart and H-E-B) in the amount of $10 (increments of $10 only and with no expiration date) to provide unaccompanied youth who have unmet needs.

Meet Sebastian Grett! Sebastian attended Haas Middle School and King High School. Mr. Grett is now a CCISD teacher and coach at King High School!
