School spirit, colors and mascots filled the Carroll High School Arena as campuses met with potiential CCISD hirees duing the Job Fair Draft on April 27. More than 100 people attended the event.

After the job fair, 52 are in the processs of joining #TeamCCISD.

Dr. Roland Hernandez to fill vacancy on TASA Executive Committee

Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez has been appointed to serve as chair of the Texas Association of School Administrators’ Advocacy Committee.

Dr. Hernandez is currently serving as an at-large member on the TASA Executive Committee. That term ends May 31. He will begin his term as chair of the Advocacy Committee on June 1. He will serve as chair through May 31, 2025.

2024 Retirement Event

Are you retiring or know someone who is retiring from CCISD this year? Be on the lookout for an email with details on this year’s Retirement Reception. The open house style reception will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 22 at Veterans Memorial High School.

Principal, director named recipients of state education awards

Dr. Kimberly Bissell, principal of Windsor Park Elementary School, and Senior Athletic Director Brenda Marshall recently received state education awards for their capabilities in their respective education fields.

Dr. Bissell is one of five educators who will be presented with the Charles Pickitt Educator of the Year Award by the Association of Texas Professional Educators. She has been named ATPE’s Administrator of the Year.

Brenda Marshall was named the recipient of the Texas High School Coaches Association’s Jody Conradt Award. The awards honors those who have served as a positive role model for athletes and coaches, and by her actions, bring credit to coaching and the advancement of women in athletics. Congratulations, Dr. Bissell and Brenda Marshall! #CCISDproud

Celebrating First in Family graduates

The Corpus Christi Education Foundation hosted the 12th annual First in Family Graduate Ceremony on May 1. The event honored 168 students who are the first in their families to graduate from high school.

CCISD welcomed guests from the community, and event sponsors CITGO and H-E-B. CITGO awarded a $1,000 college scholarship to 15 graduates during the ceremony.
