Three elementary campuses named Beacon School Los Encinos, Windsor Park and Woodlawn Elementary Schools were named 2020-2021 Beacon Schools by Imagine Learning.

Superintendent’s Spotlight Dr. Roland Hernandez spoke with Counseling Coordinator Kandice Fricke to talk about Mental Health Awareness Month in last week’s Superintendent’s Spotlight.

The two discussed what district counselors have done for students and staff during the school year.

The awards are part of Imagine Learning’s motivational program that ignites enagement and amplifies confidence for all learners throughout the year.

Calk-Wilson Elementary teacher named Crunch Fitness Educator of the Year Vanessa Gonzalez, 3rd grade teacher at Calk-Wilson Elementary School, was named Crunch Fitness Educator of the Year. The community nominated Vanessa and shared stories of their interactions with her.

She was among six winners in Texas.

“Teachers are arguably the most important members of our society,” Crunch Fitness Austin Chief Marketing Officer, Brooke Chavez, said. “They give children purpose, set them up for success as citizens of our world, and inspire in them a drive to do well and succeed in life.”

Summer work days

CCISD offices will begin four day, 10hour workweeks from June 7 to July 29. District locations will be closed Fridays during that time.

The Corpus Christi - Nueces County Public Health District is offering COVID-19 and back to school immunizations.

Immunizations began May 20 and will resume through June 10.

The clinic will be at Greenwood Senior Center by appointment.

Students will need immunization records and parental consent.

The workday will include flexibility of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Nominations open for Best of the Best

The 30-minute lunch break will be included in the 10 hour day. If employees leave the building, they must clock out.

Nominations for The Corpus Christi Caller-Times Best of the Best is open.

The Best of the Best awards recognize the best in the community.

Nominations are open from June 1 to June 20.

Offices of custodial, transportation and food services will operate on a regular five day, eight hour schedule.
