CCISD names new campus, district leaders

As Corpus Christi ISD prepares for the 2023-2024 school year, the district is making announcements regarding new assignments and promotions.

The district has named Christopher Hall principal of Robert Driscoll Middle School. Hall most recently served at Solomon M. Coles High School and has served as an assistant principal at Veterans Memorial High School.

CCISD is also pleased to announce the promotion of Tom Browne Middle School Interim Principal Jenifer Guerra to the school’s principal. Guerra’s additional district experience includes Roy Miller High School and Veterans Memorial High School.

Ron Kanipes recently was promoted to Director of Admissions, Attendance and Student Support Services, where he oversees the district’s attendance, discipline and enrollment systems. Kanipes was previously the district’s Administrator for Student Support Services. His career also includes 24 years of service in the Coast Guard. He takes the lead from Delma Bernal, who is now an assistant athletic director in Office of Athletics.

Christa Rasche, who was recently named principal of Creekside Elementary School, which will open in August 2024, will serve as principal of C.P. Yeager Elementary School for 2023-2024. She most recently served as principal of Woodlawn Elementary School and was an assistant principal at Martin Middle School.

Diana Ybarra has been named the Coordinator of Recruitment & Retention Programs, where she will oversee initiatives to support new teachers. She most recently served as principal of Rafael Galvan Elementary School and was an assistant principal at Oak Park Elementary School.

Ybarra replaces Dr. Katie Walker, who will continue to serve the education community at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Veronica Molina, who has served as principal of C.P. Yeager Elementary School since January 2020, will lead Galvan Elementary School. Her CCISD career includes serving as an assistant principal at William P. Travis Elementary School.

“We are seeing the benefits of building a strong pipeline of future leaders as well as investing in high-quality training for our current administrators,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Roland Hernandez. “We look forward to seeing these remarkable individuals succeed in their new roles.”
