Get important messages with Reverse Alert Having up to date information during an emergency can make all the difference.

The City of Corpus Christi and Nueces County have partnered to deliver important, critical information to residents about current conditions, expected impacts and protective actions to keep people safe in case of an emergency.

District announces assignments for campus leaders As planning continues for the 2022-2023 school year, the district promoted five campus administrators to new leadership roles.

David Crabtree, who currently leads Metro Elementary School of Design, will be the principal of Robert Driscoll Middle School.

He succeeds Bucky Hartman, who will lead Harold C. Kaffie Middle School. Crabtree, who began working with the district in 2002, has served as a CCISD principal since 2018, and also has administrative experience at South Park Middle School and Miller Metro Prep.

Raymond Garza, who currently serves as administrator for academics and accountability at Veterans Memorial High School, will be Elliott Grant Middle School’s new principal, following the retirement of longtime principal Carla Rosa-Villarreal. Following 11 years as a math teacher and coach, primarily in CCISD, Garza entered administration, first as an assistant principal in Flour Bluff ISD and then returning to CCISD and Veterans Memorial High School as well as serving as a summer school principal.

Shea Hernandez, who currently serves as assistant principal of Rafael Galvan Elementary School, has been promoted to principal of Zachary Kolda Elementary School.

Justin Milner, who currently serves as an assistant principal at Dorothy Adkins Middle School, will lead Metro Elementary School of Design. He succeeds David Crabtree.

At the district level, Zonia Lopez has been named Director of Special Programs, following the retirement of Velma Salazar. Lopez has served as a CCISD principal since 2017, most recently at Zachary Kolda Elementary School.

Leaders named TASSP Region 2 Principal of the Year The Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) recently recognized three CCISD campus-level administrators for exemplary performance.

Scott Walker, Veterans Memorial High School principal, was recognized as the 2022-2023 TASSP High School Principal of the Year.

Walker has served as Veterans Memorial High School principal since 2019 and was the school’s assistant principal for three years prior.

Werner “Bucky” Hartman, newly named Harold C. Kaffie Middle School principal, was recognized as the 2022-2023 TASSP Middle School Principal of the Year.

Hartman previously served as principal of Robert Driscoll Middle School, where he led the campus during its recent designation as an AVID National Demonstration School.

Jenifer Guerra, an assistant principal at Roy Miller High School, was recognized as a 2022-2023 TASSP High School Assistant Principal of the Year honoree.

Guerra has served as Miller High School’s assistant principal since 2018. She also served as an English teacher at Elliott Grant Middle School, Mary Carroll High School and Veterans Memorial High School.

Each region selects one outstanding administrator from four categories, high school principal, junior high/middle school principal, high school assistant principal and junior high/middle school assistant principal.
