Ortiz International Center. This event is a showcase of exemplary partnerships throughout our district and recognizes school donors, volunteers, CCISD employees and students. Any CCISD employee or department may submit nominations.

Candidates are asked to submit an application as part of the districtwide program.

The incentives may be stacked. For example, substitute teachers who accept an assignment for a Monday in a special education self-contained unit in a middle school, for example, will receive $15 in addition to their daily rate.

Over the next few weeks, the Teacher of the Year Selection committee will review nominees’ submitted essays. In early February, the committee will narrow the selection to the top 15 semifinalists and request additional essay submissions. From the semifinalists, the committee will select six finalists and conduct interviews in March. A news conference announcing the winners will be held on Wednesday, March 4.

All nominees and their guests will be invited to the 2020 Teacher of the Year Banquet set for Wednesday, April 15, at the American Bank Center.

Upcoming CCISD Retirement Workshops The Department for Human Resources has partnered with Elite Plus, the District’s 457 provider to host the District’s 7th Annual Retirement Workshops on Tuesday, January 28th and Tuesday, February 4th in the Carroll High School Cafeteria from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

We will cover the TRS process for employees getting close to retiring, how to calculate your pension, explain how Social Security impacts educators and review all of the available options including health care, beneficiary options and the partial lump sum.

Those in attendance will leave with a much better understanding of what to expect from TRS. Whether you think you might retire this year or in five years, take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about retirement planning and resources available to facilitate the retirement process.
