CCISD appoints campus leader to district position
Corpus Christi ISD is pleased to announce that Dr. La Tricia Johnson, currently serving as principal of Meadowbrook Elementary School, will serve at the district level, starting in July. Johnson, who began her education career in 1994 as a first grade teacher at Solomon Coles Special Emphasis School, has been named Director of Strategic Evaluation Systems and Support.
In her new role, Johnson’s work will include management of the district’s involvement in the Teacher Incentive Allotment Program. House Bill 3 established the Teacher Incentive Allotment to recognize effective teachers on three levels: Recognized, Exemplary and Master. The designations qualify districts for teacher-focused allotment funding to reward high performing educators.
Additionally, Johnson will support the district’s work in reaching district and campus goals and initiatives, including assessment and school improvement.
Johnson holds a doctorate in educational leadership, masters degrees in reading, mid-management and curriculum and instruction, and a bachelor’s in interdisciplinary studies, all from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She has served as Meadowbrook Elementary School’s principal since 2006. Meadowbrook will close at the end of the school year, as students zoned for the school prepare to attend the new Cullen Place Elementary School.
“Dr. Johnson’s extensive experience as a campus administrator will serve her well in her new role,” said Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez. “We look forward to benefiting from her campus perspective as we work to establish the Teacher Incentive Allotment in our district as well as continue to pursue academic and professional excellence districtwide.”
