Congratulations, Teacher of the Year finalists!
Congratulations to the 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year finalist winners! Semifinalists essays were recently judged by the selection committee. The committee selected 3 elementary finalists and 3 secondary finalists. We will announce the winners during a press conference on March 7. All campus winners will be celebrated at the district’s annual Teacher of the Year Ceremony in April!

Dr. D. Scott Elliff Scholarship Award 2024
Looking for financial support to help complete your college degree or teaching certification? The Dr. D. Scott Elliff Scholarship Award was established to support CCISD staff who are attending classes to earn a college degree to become an educator or, if degree has already been received, need to obtain a State Teaching Certification. The scholarship award amount is $500.
Eligibility:
• Three years employed with CCISD.
• Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.
• Or needing to obtain State Teaching Certification must have degree from an accredited college or university.

Teacher Fellowship
Award 2024
Do you need Professional Development Training for Pre-AP or AP this summer? The CCISD Teacher Fellowship Award funds registration and some travel expenses for CCISD teachers to attend College Board approved professional development courses in PreAP or AP at sum¬mer institutes or seminars in Texas. Awards vary in value depending on requests, up to approximately $1,500.
Eligibility:
• Five years teaching experience
• Three years teaching in CCISD
• Currently teaching a secondary PreAP or AP course, seeking to increase or improve mastery of subject matter.

Ram Chavez dedication ceremony
In a special ceremony Feb. 23, CCISD board, district and schools officals honored local U.S. Army veteran Ramirio “Ram” Chavez for his lifetime of dedication to CCISD and our community. Mr. Chavez, a decorated Vietnam veteran, served the district as a band director and is a proud graduate of Roy Miller High School. Since the opening of Veterans Memorial High School, he has been instrumental in supporting students and staff and helping foster a sense of pride in our military community. Thank you, Mr. Chavez, for your continued service!

In the Board Room
CCISD’s board and superintendent recently convened a workshop to learn more about Lone Star Governance, whose guiding principle is, “Student outcomes don’t change until adult behavior changes.”
The research-based Lone Star Governance system is a continuous-improvement model for governing teams—boards in collaboration with their superintendents—who choose to focus intensely on only one primary objective: improving student outcomes. Many thanks to our district leadership for always putting our students first!
