Recently we broke ground on a new middle school which will be located on the southeast side of the city next to the new Creekside Elementary School. The new middle school is set to open August 2025. Many thanks to those who joined us to celebrate this exciting project!

Congratulations, February Above the Line winners!

Dr. D. Scott Elliff Scholarship Award 2024 Looking for financial support to help complete your college degree or teaching certification? The Dr. D. Scott Elliff Scholarship Award was established to support CCISD staff who are attending classes to earn a college degree to become an educator or, if degree has already been received, need to obtain a State Teaching Certification. The scholarship award amount is $500.

Eligibility: • Three years employed with CCISD. • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.

• Or needing to obtain State Teaching Certification must have degree from an accredited college or university.

Teacher Fellowship Award 2024

Do you need Professional Development Training for Pre-AP or AP this summer? The CCISD Teacher Fellowship Award funds registration and some travel expenses for CCISD teachers to attend College Board approved professional development courses in PreAP or AP at sum¬mer institutes or seminars in Texas. Awards vary in value depending on requests, up to approximately $1,500.

Eligibility: • Five years teaching experience • Three years teaching in CCISD • Currently teaching a secondary PreAP or AP course, seeking to increase or improve mastery of subject matter.

District leaders recently announced the February 2024 Above the Line employees. Four honorees were surprised at their work locations with the announcement they were selected. Do you know an employee who goes Above the Line? Nominate them!

Cynthia Martinez, Substitute Mrs. Martinez is always ready to jump right into her new assignments. She helps keep students learning while their teacher is out and takes over the room like it is her own. She has learned how to write and plan lessons, take grades and implements her own classroom reward system. Mrs. Martinez does her best to help all students grow.

Charles Hernandez, PE Paraprofessional, Los Encinos Elementary School Mr. Hernandez goes above and beyond for his students. He is always willing to give a helping hand when needed. He is a true team player and takes on tasks even when they aren’t his own. Mr. Hernandez gives praise to students who do a great job in the cafeteria while still upholding campus expectations and implementing Capturing Kids’ Hearts strategies.

Brooke Reyna, Special Education Teacher, Mary Grett Transition Center Brooke takes pride every day in her classroom. She takes her time to work closely with students to get them as independent as they can be to set them up for success for the rest of their lives. Brooke personalizes everything for her students to what tailors to them specifically. Even with her busy schedule, Brooke always is willing to help others.

Irene Hinojosa, Dean of Assesment and Accountability, Moody High School Irene gives her all to students and teachers.

Mrs. Hinojosa has an exceptional capacity to uplift and inspire our students and staff. Her position as dean would typically focus on instruction and administration, yet she goes above and beyond. She firmly believes that when individuals bring diverse talents and perspectives together around a common purpose, the result is better than what any one person could achieve alone.

Mireles Elementary recogntion as a National Showcase School On Feb. 12, they were surprised with the news that their video was named as one of the nation’s best.

As a district we have more than 20 National Showcase Schools, honoring their exemplary work in creating safe and welcoming environments.

Would you like in-district daycare?

Good news! CCISD is exploring the possibility of offering infant to age two daycare to employees at the established programs on our five high school campuses, which would also continue to serve our student parents. If approved, the employee program would be a collaboration with Workforce Solutions, and fees would follow a sliding scale.
